Melissa “Missy” Lynn Gabrysch, of Edna, passed away Thursday,
April 3, 2014, at the young age of 43. She was born June 1,
1970, in Denton, Texas, to James (Butch) and Pat Norrell.
Missy was a Science Teacher for Industrial High School and
touched the hearts of many individuals.
She was a loving wife, daughter, mother, aunt, sister-in-law,
niece, cousin and a true friend who will be missed dearly.
Missy is survived by her husband of 21 years, Allen Wayne
Gabrysch of Edna; daughter, Hannah Lynn Gabrysch; son, Logan
Wayne Gabrysch; also survived by, Butch and Pat Norrell, Wayne
and Agnes Gabrysch, Glenn and Danielle Gabrysch, Lee and Donna
Gabrysch, Kent and Lisa Gabrysch, Garland and June Chapman,
Paula Cantrell and Regina Wootten; nine, nieces and nephews and
numerous cousins and friends.
Missy graduated from North Lamar High School in 1988. She
attended Paris Junior College and then graduated from Texas A&M,
in College Station with a degree in biology. She was a true and
loyal Aggie and a loyal Cobra supporter.
Missy loved everyone-the IISD administrators, all of their
employees and most specially the students. Her friends at work
and in the community, along with her long time friends from
Paris, were a joy to her always. She was a fan of all sports,
especially when her children were involved. She loved the
outdoors including boating, fishing and planting in her yard.
A visitation will be held Sunday, April 6, 2014, from 4-6 pm,
with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm at Oaklawn Funeral Home in
Edna. A Funeral Mass will be Monday, April 7, 2014, at 10:00 am
at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Inez. Reverend Gabriel Bentil
and Reverend Johnson Owusu-Boateng will be officiating. Burial
will follow at St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery in LaSalle.
Pallbearers will be Craig Gabrysch, Brad Drake, Rusty Roe,
Dennis Zacek, John Zacek and Payton Gabrysch. Honorary

Mary Lydia Galvan-Gonzales, of Edna, passed away Friday,
September 26, 2014, at the age of 63. She was born January 18,
1951, in Edna, Texas, to the late Pete Lugo and Minnie Garza.
Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and
sister whom will be missed dearly. Her time on earth was
cherished by all that knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years Miguel
Galvan-Gonzales; daughters, Blanca Galvan and Fiance (Juan
Galarza) of Victoria and Felicia Galvan and Fiance (Joe Loera)

September 26, 1935 - January 30, 2014
Roland Archie Gandy, of Tomball, Texas, passed away Thursday,
January 30, 2014 at the age of 78. He was born in Morales,
Texas, on September 26, 1935, to the late Russell Otto Gandy and
Laura Ivy Laughter Gandy.
He retired from Williams Company
in 1995, and continued working contract work until 2010. He was
a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and will be
truly missed.
Roland is survived by his loving
wife of 50 years, Jeannette Thompson Gandy; daughter, Tina Gandy
Dickerson and husband Patrick of Tomball; daughter, Tammy Gandy
Schronk and husband Chris of Round Rock; sister, Sybil Fay

Henry R. Garcia, of Edna, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014
at the age of 66. He was born July 16, 1947, in Inez, Texas, to
the late Eusebio Garcia Sr. and Mercedes Robles Garcia.
Henry worked as a Truck Driver
in the trucking business for many years. He was a loving and
devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be missed
dearly.
He is survived by his wife

Johnny Joe “Poppy” Garcia, of Edna, Texas, Passed away on
Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the age of 54. He was born in
Ganado, Texas on July 1, 1960, to the late John R. Garcia and
Josie Garcia.
He worked at McDonalds as a maintenance man. He loved fishing,
barbequing, watching the Patriots and listening to country
music. Poppy was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend who
will be dearly missed.

Santos Lara Garcia, of San Antonio, Texas passed away Saturday,
February 28, 2015, at the age of 72. He was born October 29,
1942, in Victoria, Texas, to the late Santos Cruz Garcia and
Mary Lara Paredes.
Santos retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of active duty
service. He was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church for
many years. Santos was a loving husband, father, grandfather,

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Esther Cruz
Garcia; Daughter; Evelyn Monica Infante and her husband

at the age of 56. She was born November 21, 1957, in Victoria,
Texas, to John Samora and the late Elosia Partida Samora.
Esther was a Custodian for many
years, a devoted mother and grandmother who will be dearly
missed.

Anthony “Tony” Gerdes, of Edna passed away Monday, February 24,
2014, at the age of 91. He was born May 11, 1922, in
Hallettsville, Texas, to the late Anthony Martin Gerdes Sr. and

Tony served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in
the Philippines. He also owned a dry cleaning business in Edna
formerly called Courtesy Cleaners.

husband. She was president of the Pilots Club, and an active

needlework. Leverette was a loving mother, grandmother, sister,

Bishop Gipson, 80, of Vanderbilt, died in a local hospital
Saturday March 21, 1992,
following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Gipson was born July 1, 1911 in Jackson County to the late

Destiny Lynn Gonzales, 28, of Edna, passed away on Saturday,
March 16, 2019. She was born on Sept. 25, 1990 in Port Lavaca to
Martin Gonzales and Donna Cortez.
She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Ganado and
employed at Sonic Drive In. She is survived by her children,
Laythan Arriaga, Laylynn Palacios and LayRayna Palacios; mother
Donna Robinson, father Martin Gonzales; grandmother, Mary Louise

Emil Leos Gonzales, of Edna, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014
at the age of 80. He was born August 8, 1933, in Yorktown,
Texas, to the late Isaac & Petra Leos Gonzales.
Emil worked as a plumber at Kotlar Plumbing for 28 years before
retiring, then he joined Oaklawn Funeral Home for 10 years where
he loved to help serve the people in our community. Emil was a
very loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, who
will be missed dearly. He touched so many hearts and will never
be forgotten.

for 37, years as a foreman and known to his co-workers as

Julia Garza Gonzales, of Edna, Texas passed away Tuesday, April
21, 2015, at the age of 82. She was born June 30, 1932, in Edna,
Texas, to the late Hilario and Dolores Garza.
Julia had many occupations in her life, such as being a
waitress, mattress & purse maker, manager of housekeeping at
Care Inn of Edna and a cook for the Senior Citizen Center. She
loved to spend time with her family and friends. Julia was a
loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be
missed dearly.
She is survived by her daughters; Mary Ester Alvarado and her
husband Javier of Edna and Lupe Zarate and her husband Johnny
Carrillo of Edna; grandsons, Domingo Zarate and Joe Louis
Davila, Jr.; granddaughters, Lupe Ann Arriaga, Matilda
Corarrubias, Marsha Z. Salas, Dolores Arriaga, Yolanda Davila
Rodriguez and Debbie Davila-Gomez; great-grandchildren,
twenty-five; great-great-grandchildren, nine; numerous nieces
and nephews and many loving family members and friends.
Julia is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Domingo
Gonzales; son, Faustino Gonzales; sisters, Juanita Garza Dorado,
Concha Garza, Genoveva Bermea, Adela Garza and Eloisa Bermea;
brothers, Frank Garza, Margarito Garza, Narcisco Garza and Ramon
Garza; great-grandson, Johnny Angel Ortega. Visitation will be
held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 5~7 p.m. in the Oaklawn
Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A
Funeral Mass will be on Friday, April 24, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. in
the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Edna. Reverend Michael Petering
will be officiating. Burial to follow at Latin American Cemetery
in Edna.

B. Glenn Green, 80, of Edna, passed away, on January 29, 2019.
He was born on February 4, 1938, in Sinton, Texas, to the late
Lonnie Green and Bertha Boultinghouse Green.
Glenn spent many years at the Edna Country Club paying golf and
cards with his friends. He worked over 50 years in the oil and
gas industry.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara Green;
daughters, Kim Green and Sherri Wright; son, Darrell (Debbie)
Green; sister, Iva (John) Bowen; brother, Robert (Melanie)
Green; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Glenn is preceded in death by his parents.

Woodrow "Woodie" Green, 72,
of Victoria, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006.
He was born March 19, 1933,

Bobby Eugene Gregory, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at the
age of 77. He was born March 22, 1937 in Edna, Texas to Lonnie
E. and Rosie Lee Tompkins Gregory. Bobby was a loving husband,
and father who will be missed dearly. He is survived by his
loving wife, Della Gregory of Edna; son, Bobby Dale Gregory; two
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Bobby is preceded
in death by his parents.

Thomas Franklin (Frank) Gresham, Jr., of Mission Valley, Texas went
peacefully to his Lord on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. He was born
in Louise, Texas on March 9, 1924, to the late Thomas and Jessie
Gresham.
Frank served in the military during WWII as an Army sergeant and
paratrooper. He was a rice farmer in Jackson County for nearly
25 years. Frank was a loving father, grandfather,
great-grandfather, and friend.
He is survived by his daughters, Carrie Baker (Bill), Freda Calhoun
(Morris), and Reda Bagnall (Bruce); seven grandchildren; twelve
great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Frank is preceded in death by his
loving wife of 65 years, Wanda LaVerne Gresham.
Private services are pending at Oaklawn Funeral Home.

Ganado—Fraz Griffin, 97, of Ganado died Thursday, Aug. 19, 1993.
He was born Jan. 25, 1896, in Jackson County to the late Isaac
and Florence Edwards Griffin. He was a retired farmer and a
member of Prosperity Baptist Church in Ganado.
Survivors: daughters, Georgia Griffin of Ganado and Catherine

July 4, 2007, in Victoria. He was born Nov. 28, 1940, in Jackson
County, to the late Frez Griffin and Lomelia Houston Griffin. He
was a minister, pastor of Prosperity Baptist Church and Mt.
Olive Baptist Church for 33 years, Jackson Co. Region 6
Director, Minister Alliance President in Ganado, Employed by
Ganado I. S. D. for over 30 years and a custodian of First
Baptist Church in Ganado for 28 years.
He is survived by his wife, Fannie Griffin of Ganado; daughters,
Marilyn Jeanette Griffin of Arlington, Felicia Arlene Chaisson
of Ganado, Patricia Elaine Griffin of Ganado and Kimberly Denise
Griffin of Ganado; sister, Georgia Griffin of Ganado and
Catherine Elliott of San Antonio; brothers, M. C. Griffin of

Annatasia Nina Guerra
Annatasia Nina Guerra, of Edna, passed away on Saturday, March
16, 2019, at the age of 29. She was born in Victoria, on August
5, 1989, to Richard Guerra Sr. and Monica Castro Guerra.
Annatasia “Nina” worked at Sonic, and loved serving the
community. She also recently became a licensed insurance agent,
a passion she had just recently discovered. Nina was an awesome
mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and a great friend to many. She
loved to meet new people and was definitely one of a kind. She
will be greatly missed and forever be “Nina Ross the Boss”!
In addition to her parents, Nina is survived by her four
children, Markus Guerra, Layha Holmes, Lukus Holmes and Zayla
Holmes; sisters, Britny Castro and Amiee Guerra; brother,
Richard Guerra Jr.; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, several
extended family members and dear friends.
Nina is preceded in death by her grandparents Encarnacion Castro
Jr., Consuelo Cruz, Silverio Guerra and Eva Rivera.

Andrew Charles Gutierrez, of Edna, age 49, passed away Friday,
August 15, 2014. He was born in Ganado, Texas on September 5,
1964 to Clara Aldaco Gutierrez and the late Manuel Garcia
Gutierrez, Sr.
Andrew was known for his great personality. He adored his wife,
daughters and his two grandsons who were his whole world
including his family. He was looking forward to having his first
granddaughter, Kinsley Drew Edwards who is due in October. He
loved the outdoors and teaching his oldest grandson, Daylon
Andrew, how to hunt, fish and follow in his own father’s
footsteps as he was taught as a child. He was a Family man who
worked hard in the oilfield as a Crane Operator for Allegiance
Crane in Carrizo Springs, Tx. He spent many days away from home
to provide for his family. He was known for his crazy jokes that
would make your stomach hurt for days. He was loved by so many
people who knew him and he will be greatly missed. Heaven gained
a wonderful and loving Angel.
In addition to his mother, Andrew is survived by his wife,
GeeGee Greathouse Gutierrez of Edna; daughters, Danyel Gutierrez
Jaynes and husband Randy of Edna and Alysia Gutierrez of Edna;
brothers and sisters, Dora Gutierrez Cardenas, Felipa “Phil”
Gutierrez and husband Greg, Martin Gutierrez and wife Antonia,
Manuel Gutierrez, Jr. and wife Joyce, Richard Gutierrez and wife
Susan and Regina Gutierrez; grandchildren, Daylon “Buck”
Gutierrez, Ashton Edwards; also numerous nieces and nephews and
great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father; infant brother, John
Gutierrez; niece, Marcelina Gutierrez.
