Wednesday rites for JOSEPH YANEZ
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Wickenburg Chapel for JOSEPH YANEZ, 78, who died in community Hospital a t 5:11 a.m. Monday. Burial was in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Rev. James WILSON, Presbyterian minister, officiated. Mr. Yanez had resided her for the past six years with his only daughter, Mrs. Margarita COX, at 69 North Lincoln St. Born May 6, 1886, in Havana, Cuba, Mr. Yanez came to the United States at the age of 16 and was a cigar maker in Chicago for 40 years. He resided in Deer Park, Washington, the eight years preceding his move here. The Wickenburg daughter is the only survivor.

RAY O. YANEZ, age 86, passed away Jan. 17 at his residence in Wittmann, Ariz. Funeral services were held on Tuesday (Jan. 22) at 10:30 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix with visitation on Sunday at the Wickenburg Funeral Home. Ray was born in Phoenix and raised in Bagdad and Prescott. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the first scout in the Philippine Islands. Following his military service he returned to Prescott where he worked as a surgical technician at the Veteran’s Hospital for 47 years, retiring in 1980. He later worked at Yavapai Regional Hospital for a brief time. Ray was a very skilled craftsman and carpenter and could build just about anything. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and considered family the most important thing in his life. He is survived by his wife Cleo of Wittmann; children Steve Yanez and Ernestine Yanez of Prescott, Sherri Morales of Wittmann, Harvey Hutter, Jr. of Prescott Valley, Michael Hutter of Birmingham, Ala., Steven Hutter of Jacksonville, Fla., 28 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home & Crematory.

Funeral services for CATHERINE L. YEAGER were scheduled to be held at 2 p. m. Thursday of this week in the Lundberg-Hansen Mortuary in Glendale. Burial was to follow in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Rev. Scott Siegle was to officiate at both services. Mrs. Yeager died suddenly in her home in Sun City at 5:30 a. m. Monday. Mrs. Yeager and her late husband, DON YEAGER who died in 1952, lived in Wickenburg for several years until they built a large home on the desert near Morristown. This home was sold in 1957 to Mr. & Mrs. Bill Davis and Mrs. Yeager moved to Phoenix where she resided until last summer when she purchased a home in Sun City. She was active here in the Soroptimist Club, Easter Star, the First Presbyterian Church and enagaged in many civic and charitable projects. She was born August 14, 1898, in Marshalltown, Iowa. Surviving are one son, Marvin MILLER of Homewood, Illinois; two grandsons, Craig and Todd MILLER of Homewood; the mother, Mrs. Eunice MATSEN of Marshalltown, Iowa; two brothers, Orval J. LANDIS of Marshalltown and Clarence A. LANDIS of Glendale, Calif.; and one sister, Mrs. Iantha JOHNSON of Marshalltown.

IRENE R. YOUNG of Yarnell passed away on April 2 at the age of 80. She was born in London, England, on Nov. 1, 1924. She is survived by daughters Frances STOCKTON and Carol LENZ. Memorial service will be on Saturday, April 16 at 11 a.m. at the Yarnell Senior Center, 22302 S. Hwy 89 in Yarnell. Arrangement by Frey-Wickenburg Funeral Home. HIRAM A. YOUNG of Congress died April 19, 2001 at Wickenburg Regional Medical Center. He was 66. Mr. Young was born June 2, 1934 in Middleburgh, N.Y., and had lived in Arizona for four years. He is survived by his wife BEATRICE YOUNG of Congress; daughters Debra CAPO of Georgia, Laurie BOOTH of Massachusetts, Tracy YOUNG of Massachusetts, and Christine SQUIRES of Georgia; sons Eric YOUNG of Massachusetts, Dougless YOUNG of Massachusetts, and Rex YOUNG of Massachusetts; stepsons Henry GARGAN of Maine and Dennis GARGAN of Congress; stepdaughters Beverly RORABACK of Massachusetts; Darlene TOOMEY of Ohio, and Cheryl GARGAN of Massachusetts; sister Betty Lou YOUNG of New York; brother Herbert YOUNG of New York; 25 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday (April 30) at Frey Funeral Home in Wickenburg.

Highway toll mounts; VERNE YOUNG killed
The Phoenix Highway claimed its sixth traffic victim of 1950 on Sunday evening when VERNE YOUNG killed, 65-year-old Wittmann resident, was struck by a car and instantly killed. The accident occured at the small bridge on the southeast limits of Wittmann. It was a freak accident which took Mr. Young's life. His Model T Ford sideswiped a Greyhound bus. Both vehicles stopped on opposite sides of the highway and Mr. Young was walking across the highway to the bus when a car driven by Mrs. Virginia Lattimore of Phoenix struck him and carried him 183 feet. The body of Mr. Young is being held at the Wickenburg Mortuary while efforts are made to locate members of his family.

JACQUELINE S. YOUNGMAN, 65, of Du Quoin, Illinois and Aguila, Arizona, passed away at 8:25 A.M., Wednesday, Feb. 22 at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital in Pinckneyville, Ill. Jacqueline had worked as a laborer for Arizona Pipeline. She was of the Christian faith. She was a member of the Humane Society and Aguila Fire Department in Aguila, Ariz. She was born September 16, 1940 at Belpre, Ohio, the daughter of Leo S. and Helen (Brafford) McMains. She is survived by one daughter - Cindy Whitley and husband James of Du Quoin, two stepchildren - Cheryl Gilliam and husband Gene and Rod Youngman and wife Jill, all of Du Quoin, six grandchildren - Garrett Gross, Jordan Gross, Madison Whitley, Cody Youngman, Camden Youngman, and Brittany Douglas, two great grandchildren - Cole Goodwin and Hunter Douglas, and one sister - Patricia Lee Puckrin of Geneva, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services were held Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Dr. John Lewis officiating. Friends may make memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Perry County Humane Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
