ROBERT HENRY CAIN, JR., infant son of Mr & Mrs Robert Cain of Blythe, died at 2:20 p. m., Sunday, January 4 at community Hospital here. The babe was born in the local hospital October 7, 1952.

FRED CALDWELL rites Saturday
Funeral services for FRED CALDWELL will be held at 10 o’clock tomorrow (Saturday) morning in the Wickenburg Chapel with Bruce Hunt of the LDS Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Mr. Caldwell, who had been maintenance man and gardener at the Flying E Ranch for the past four years, died at 1 a.m. Thursday in Community Hospital. He had been ill about one month. Mr. Caldwell was born December 29, 1896, in Nebraska and resided in the Midwest before coming to Wickenburg to visit a son, Robert, who now lives in Phoenix. He and Mrs. Caldwell bought the Peaceful Valley ranch east of town 10 years ago. They sold the year following and moved to Oxnard, Calif., where Mr. Caldwell was a maintenance man and gardener in the school system there. Surviving are the widow, Lucy; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Sims of Naperville, Ill.; two sons, Frederick, Jr., of Covina, Calif., and Robert of Phoenix; two step-sons, Robert Young of Ogden, Utah, and Ellis Wood of Ellsworth Air Force Base, S. D.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Helen Davis and Mrs. Mona Rae Barker of Brigham City, U.; and 19 grandchildren.

GARY WAYNE CALLAHAN, of Thousand Palms, Calif., died Jan. 10 in Phoenix. He was 48. Mr. Callahan was born June 17, 1947 in Glendale, Calif. He had been in Arizona for 15 days, coming here from California. Mr. Callahan was a Coast Guard veteran who served three tours in Vietnam as a gunners mate. He was an insurance representative with Metropolitan Life and a teacher at Orange Coast College. Mr. Callahan loved sailing and racing sailboats, and riding off-road vehicles. He also enjoyed skiing and fishing with his sons. He is survived by his wife of six years, Jo of Thousand Palms, Calif.; mother and step-father Mary G. and Arthur Aigner of Orange County, Calif.; father-in-law and mother-in-law Gordon and Iola Kraemer of Wickenburg; sons Thomas and Robert McGee, both of Thousand Palms, and Michael Callahan of Texas; daughters Tori Morris and Gennifer Ferris, both of, Texas; and grandchildren Courtney, Morris and Tyler Ferris, both of Texas: Funeral services will be held at a later date in Porterville, Calif. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Callahan's name to: Stroke Activity Center, 1776 N. Palm Canyon Dr., Palm Springs, Calif., 92264. PIONEER SETTLER IS LAID TO REST
JAMES CAMERON, Resident of Hassayampa Valley For 60 Years Dies at Ranch
Funeral services for JAMES CAMERON, one of the oldest settlers on the Hassayampa river in point of continuous residence, took place at the Community Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon and were impressive and largely attended. Mr. CAMERON, who first settled on the river at Walnut Grove in 1876, passed away at his home 12 miles above Wickenburg last Friday. He was 87 years old, having been born in February, 1849 in Illinois. He first emigrated to Texas, where he engaged in the cattle business, driving cattle over the Old Chisholm trail and engaging in many fights with the Comanche Indians, who were on the warpath at that time. Upon removing to Arizona he continued in the cattle business, with some interests also in lumbering. His long residence on the river made him familiar with all the residents of the vicinity. The widow, two sons, a daughter, and eight grandchildren survive. The funeral services were presided over by Rev. Reese SCULL. J. R. BARNETTE, a close and long standing friend of Mr. Cameron, gave a scripture reading and obituary at the request of the family. The pall bearers were W. F. MORGAN, Alfred PURDY, Bert SCHOOF, Albert BALDWIN, John BOETTA and George CADY. Burial took place at the Wickenburg cemetery.

Services Held for Mrs. CAMERON
Graveside rites were conducted at the Wickenburg cemetery December 5 for MRS. RETA CAMERON, 84, who died in a Phoenix rest home December 3. The Rev. Robert JENKINS, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated. Mrs. Cameron was born in Pawhuska, Okla., January 1, 1879, and had resided in Arizona for 68 years. From 1898 until 1921 she lived on what is now known as the Nel Cooper Ranch at Wagoner, she came to Wickenburg in 1921. Survivors include one son James, Jr., who resides on the Rincon Road; one daughter, Mrs. Chester LATHAM of Phoenix; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Her husband was JAMES A. CAMERON Sr., who died in Wickenburg many years ago.

ISAAC CAMPBELL Rites Wednesday
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon of this week for ISAAC CAMPBELL, a resident of Wickenburg for the past 35 years, who died in a hospital in Phoenix Monday night, March 12. Mr. Campbell was 69 years of age, and had been in ill health for five years. He had mined and prospected throughout this section of the state for many years and was well known among those engaged in the mining business. The funeral services were held at the Wickenburg Chapel with burial following in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Mr. Campbell is survived by three brothers, M. J. and John, residing in Wickenburg and I. P. a resident of Safford. Three nephews and one niece also survive. They are Tom KEPPLER and Richard CAMPBELL of Clifton, Ariz., Buster KEPPLER of Safford and Mrs. Lucio SANDOVAL of Morenci.

JOHN D. CAMPBELL, 77, passed away March 28, 2004 in Sun City. John was born in Phoenix on July 23, 1926. He is survived by his wife Lillian, Sun City, Ariz.; three stepchildren Debra Sanders Yancey , Mesa, Ariz., David Sanders, Dallas, Texas and Kenneth Bingham, Yuma, Ariz.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mass will be held at St. Anthony's on Thursday, April 1, 2004 at 10 a.m. Father Brian Bell will officiate with burial at Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery following mass. La VERGE LEE CAMPBELL of Easton, Maryland, died on Wednesday, April 6 at her residence. She was 95. Born on November 22, 1909 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Effie KYSOR and Robert G. LEE. In her teen years, she was a practical nurse. During World War II, she was a "Rosie Riveter," welding aluminum on Corsair fighters. Her other professions include being a waitress, maitre d' and hostess. She was a buyer for Yeagers in Akron, Ohio, and for Grammer Murphy, mostly within the cosmetics industry, in Midland, Texas. She also worked in the department store Polsky's making drapes, pillows, etc. She was a wonderful seamstress. For several years in Arizona, she managed motels. In her later years, she cared for the elderly, many younger than she, in her home. She has a son that is a preacher, two grandsons that are preachers and two grandsons-in-law that are pastors. Ms. Campbell is survived by sons Dr. Jack CANADY of Easton, Md., David Lee CANADY of Hilliard, Ohio, and Robert R. FARRAR of Galena, Maryland; sisters Delma SEMENAS of Reno, Nevada, and Peg CARSON of Akron, Ohio; grandchildren Jonathan R. FARRAR of West Chicago, Ill., Timothy J. Farrar of Atlanta, Georgia, Phil Canady and Robyn Joy Snell both of Columbus, Ohio, Paul David CANADY of Centreville, Md., Mark Thomas Canady of Pacific City, Oregon, James Daniel Canady and Joy Darlene BOOTH both of Overland Park, Kansas; 21 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren and four great-great-great-grandchildren. S. CAMPBELL’s Funeral Held Last Saturday
Arizona Native Once Wickenburg Resident
Funeral services were held here last Saturday afternoon at 4 o’ clock for S. M. (STEVE) CAMPBELL, for the past 10 years a resident of Randsburg, Calif., but who was born in Arizona and spent most of his life in this state. Fifteen of those years were spent here in Wickenburg where he became well-known among both townspeople and prospectors Mr. Campbell passed away Wednesday morning of last week. He had suffered an attack pneumonia but had apparently recovered when a relapse occurred from which he failed to rally. Born in Morenci, Ariz., Mr. Campbell was 58 years of age at his death. All of his mature life was spent in mining. Surviving are the widow and five children, Eloisa, Rose, Steve, Richardo and Ray. He was one of eight brothers, five of whom survive. They are Ygonacio Campbell, Phx; J. A. Campbell of Prescott, formerly of Wickenburg; Isaac Campbell of Wickenburg and Manuel Campbell of Los Angeles. Numerous relatives of the deceased were here for the funeral services last Saturday. Burial was in the Wickenburg Cemetery.

Wednesday rites for Mrs. CAMPILLO
Funeral services for Mrs. AURORA CAMPILLO were held in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at 9 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. D.F. O’SULLIVAN officiating. Burial followed in the Garcia Cemetery. Mrs. Campillo died in Community Hospital Sunday afternoon. Born May 5, 1890, in Florence, Ariz., Mrs. Campillo came to Wickenburg while still a small child. Her home was east of town on the Phoenix highway. Surviving are the husband, Antonio, one daughter, Mrs. Allen HERSHKOWITZ, and two sons, Manuel MACIAS, Sr., and Raymond MACIAS, all of Wickenburg. Another son Frank MACIAS died her October 22. Also surviving are seven grandchildren. 10 great-grandchildren, a brother and a sister, Frank RODRIGUEZ and Mrs. Virginia ENRIQUEZ, both of Phoenix.

DOROTHY MAE CARL, age 84, passed away April 15, 2007 at her residence in Wickenburg. She was born January 18, 1923 in Green County, Iowa. She and her husband came to Arizona in 1979 from Iowa and settled in Wickenburg in 1990. She is survived by her husband Walter of Wickenburg, son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Lorraine Carl of Sandy, Utah; daughters Janet Jackson of Spokane, Wash., and Debra Luteyn of Laveen, Ariz.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter Anita Jane Hatfield in March of 2005. Family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home.

WALTER KENNETH CARL, age 87, of Wickenburg, passed away Oct. 7 in Phoenix, Ariz., the result of a car accident. Graveside services were held in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Walter was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Mae in 2007 and daughter Anita Jane Hatfield in 2005. He is survived by son Kenneth Carl (Lorraine) of Sandy, Utah; daughters Janet Jackson of Spokane, Wash.; Debra Luteyn of Laveen, Ariz.; sisters Dorothea Dailey and Gladys Noelck of Arcadia, Iowa; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. O. W. CARPENTER Rites Saturday
Funeral services for ORVILLE W. CARPENTER, 67, were held in the Wickenburg Chapel last Saturday afternoon with burial following in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Dr. Charles Poling officiated. Mr. Carpenter died suddenly of a heart attack September 20 at his home at 330 North El Recreo Drive. Born in Warsaw, Missouri, December 25, 1895, Mr. Carpenter later lived in San Diego, Calif., where he was a Civil Service employee of the navy Air Base transportation department. Upon his retirement he and his wife moved to Wickenburg and built their home 5 years ago. The wife, Lillian, is the only immediate survivor.

ALBERT CHARLES CARR of Congress, died Jan. 29 in Congress. He was 52. Mr. Carr was born June 5, 1943 in Riverside, Calif. He had lived in Arizona for three years, coming here from California. Mr. Carr enjoyed fishing and frogging. He also enjoyed working with his hands. He is Survived by his wife, Bobette of Congress; mother Lillian Buskirk, of Beaumont, Calif.; daughters Gracee and Tara Carr, both of Congress; son Aron Ashcraft of Indiana; sisters Bonnie Pistillie, Betty Grant, Ellen Carr and Marilyn, all of California; and brothers James Carr of Arizona, and Roy and Billy Carr, both of California. NANCY B. CARR of Wickenburg died July 20 in Wickenburg. She was 98. Mrs Carr was born Feb 3, 1898 in Coatopa, Ala. She had lived in Arizona for the past 30 years, coming from Nevada. Survivors include her nieces, LeNell Boley of El Paso, Texas, and Cora Hollinquist; nephew Walter Bolton Jr.; and great-grandniece Jadean Roberts of Kilgore, Texas and Sharon and Annette Crenshaw of Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. David Carr of Wickenburg. Graveside services were held Tuesday, July7 23 in the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. Pastor Bill Root officiated. LEO CARRILLO, 81-year-old movie star for three decades, died Sunday in Santa Monica, Calif. Mr. Carrillo was known to many Wickenburgers as he was a guest on the Desert Caballeros rides of 1947 and 1950. On those two occasions he helped entertain the crowds on Frontier Street at the send-off ceremonies. Mr. Carrillo, who made his biggest movie hit as the lovable Pancho of the Cisco Kid series, died of cancer. He was born in Los Angeles, was a newspaper cartoonist before turning actor in his early 20s, and played in vaudeville, stock companies and on the New York Stage before he went into movies.

JOHN L. CARRON infant son of Susan McKinney and Mark Carron of Wittmann died July 1 at Sun City West, Ariz. Survivors include sisters Ortica and Shaka Carroll, brothers Clyde and Kinneth Carroll, maternal grandparents Don and Ella McKinney all of Wittmann. The Rev. Jack Kelly presided over the services. Interment was at Wittmann Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Brown's Wickenburg Funeral Home.

MESA COUPLE CLAIM DEAD YOUTH AS SON
The unidentified youth who was killed in an auto accident near Aguila January 13, and whose body was held at the Wickenburg Funeral Home for two weeks was claimed last Saturday by Mr. and Mrs. W. J. CARTER of Mesa, who returned the remains to that city for burial. The Carters made five trips to Wickenburg before making final decision that the dead boy was their son, who is alleged to have been on the road for several years but who was said to have visited the parents on the night of January 9.

CARLA RUTH CARTER, 57, of Phoenix and formerly of Wickenburg, passed away July 10 of complications resulting from heart failure. Born on Oct.1, 1950 in Schenectady, N.Y., to Virginia and Samuel Hammerstrom, Carla moved with her family to Wickenburg where Sam opened the Sun Bowl in 1961. Sam shifted careers to education and civic leadership, ultimately becoming Wickenburg’s mayor before moving to Camp Verde and becoming superintendent of schools. Carla graduated from Wickenburg High School in 1968 and in 1980, while living in Salt Lake City, met and married Marion “Sid” Carter. Preceded in death by her parents and younger brother Bill, she is survived by her loving husband Sid and two Children, Blake Powell and Brenda Parent, both of Phoenix. Carla’s three grandchildren, Jayson Parent, Tristin and Trinity Powell were the lights of her life. She is also survived by her brother John Hammerstrom of Key Largo, Fla., and sister Patty Helm of Phoenix. Carla loved any and all family activities, especially camping and daily visits with her grandchildren. Warm and generous souls, the partnership of Carla and Sid opened their home and hearts to many young people in need of physical and spiritual succor. Family and friends gathered at the Carter residence on Sunday, July 13 to honor her with remembrances. As Carla’s life was dedicated to helping others, in lieu of flowers in her memory, the family requests that a donation be made to your favorite charity. While her soul is resting peacefully with God, Carla’s physical remains will be cremated.

IZORA "PAT" CARTER of Wikieup and formerly of Wickenburg, died June 17 at her home in Wikieup. She was 87. Mrs. Carter was born in Bolivar, Mo. on May 4, 1909. Mrs. Carter is survived by her daughter, Frances JAIME of Wickenburg. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, E.O. "Red" CARTER, and her grandson, Joseph JAIME. Services will be held in El Cajon, Calif. Sutton Funeral Home of Kingman handled all arrangements.

Brother of Yarnell Women Is Summoned
ARNIE W. CASBERE 59, brother of Mrs. Darrel McCAIN and Mrs. Frank RUSSELL of Yarnell, died in Paradise Valley Thursday of last week. Funeral services were in Phoenix Sunday. A native of California, Mr. Casbere later lived in Colorado and then moved to Phoenix 12 years ago. Survivors, in addition to the two Yarnell sisters, include the widow, Beulah; one daughter, Patrice Diane, Phoenix; and one son, Arthur, Prescott.

DAVID PATRICK CASEY “CASEY” passed away Sep. 6, at 46 years of age in Wickenburg, Ariz. He was formerly of Wethersfield and Rocky Hill, Conn. He died after a long illness. He attended Corpus Chriisti and South Catholic High. As a young man he excelled in Irish Football on the Glastonbury Irish Club Team. He haa tenacious desire to live life to the fullest and to that end he leaves close friendships scattered across the country from Connecticut to Arizona, many of whom surrounded him to the very end. Casey was dedicated landscaper, large-machine operator and cement finisher. He leaves his wife Sharon Casey of Wickenburg, Ariz., the pride and joy of his life daughter Courtney Casey of Scottsdale, Ariz., and his extended family of 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as his father John Jack) Casey and his wife Carolyn of Wethersfield. He was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth “Betty” Casey. He also leaves his sister Marie and Bill DeMilla of Newington, brother Jack and Gina Casey of Wethersfield, brother Tim and Franca Casey of Wethersfield, brother Michael and Maryellen Casey of Glastonbury, his sister Elizabeth Casey-Dalkowski of Newington and Bruce Dalkowski of Wethersfield. Uncle Dave was loved by his nieces and nephews Billy and Chris, Tim and Kelly, Griffin, Breden and Brittany. He was predeceased by his nephew Connor. Casey will now be fishing for eternity in the creeks of the lands beyond. A celebration of life will be held at the Rancher bar on Sept. 28 at 1 p. m. Arrangements by David’s Desert Chapel Funeral Home.

Prescott Rites for Former Resident of Castle Hot Springs
Funeral services for JAMES T. CASH, 89, who died in the Pioneer Home at the Prescott March 13 were held in that town Monday. Mr. Cash, who was born in Oxford, Me., had been an Arizona resident for 70 years. He was one of the last of the mule skinners, ran a pack train into the Iron King area in the early 1900’s, was summer custodian at Castle Hot Springs Hotel for a time and wrangled horses in the Castle Hot Springs area for 30 years.

Man Is Critically Injured In Wreck
SARO CASHIO, 51, of Los Angeles is in critical condition at Community Hospital following an automobile accident at 8:30 p. m. Sunday 5 miles east of Aguila on Highway 60-70. According to Highway Patrolman Dick SHAFFER, Mr. CASHIO was driving a 1942 Plymouth east when it ran off the highway and hit a bridge. The only passenger, James TOOMBS, 47, also of Los Angeles, was also admitted to the hospital with multiple lacerations and abrasions.

DARLENE FAYE CASON, 63, of Wickenburg, passed away on Sept. 4, following a valiant six-month battle with cancer of the thyroid. Darlene was born on Sept. 21, 1937 in Bowie, and raised in Douglas, Ariz., the second daughter of Ernest and Rosamae GARCIA. Darlene attended Douglas schools, Arizona State College, Tempe, graduated from the University of Hawaii, and received a master's degree from San Diego State. She taught in the Pearl City, Oahu, Hawaii, and San Diego City school systems. Darlene was multi-career oriented, including realty, her own interior design business, and the travel industry. Enjoying a talent for woodworking, she built several items of furniture that currently grace her home. Singing was a special enjoyment of Darlene's; she most recently sang with the Wickenburg Community Choir. An active member of the Mount Hope Assembly of God Church, Darlene touched many lives through her exemplary faith and commitment to the Lord. She courageously and gracefully fought her battle against cancer, giving all glory to God. Her exceptional gift of sharing her faith and willingness to counsel others will be celebrated by the many she touched on her journey through life. Darlene is survived by her husband of 44 years, G. Rex; her two daughters, Vicki MICHEL of Windsor, Calif., and Carole THOMAS of Imperial, Calif.; her mother, Rosamae GARCIA CLARK of Youngtown; two sisters, Louise CLARK of Avondale, and Myrna ALEXANDER of Tucson; and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Mount Hope Assembly of God Church, located at 500 Penn Lane in Wickenburg. At a later date Darlene's ashes will be placed in the Well's family cemetery near Douglas, close to her father who preceded her in death in 1988. ARTHUR CASTRO of Chino Valley died Dec. 30 in the Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott. He was 63. Mr. Castro was born Aug. 3, 1932 in Wickenburg. He was a 1951 graduate of Wickenburg High School, where he was considered an outstanding athlete. Mr. Castro enlisted in the Navy in 1952, serving four years. In 1958 he married his wife, Barbara, who survives him in Wickenburg. Shortly after their marriage the couple moved to Southern California where Mr. Castro was employed by R. E. Hazard as a labor foreman, constructing bridges throughout California. After 30 years of employment, he was injured on the job and after recovering retired and relocated to Arizona and Chino Valley, where he and his wife built their home. Mr. Castro loved his family and was extremely proud of it. He inspired and enriched all those who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of Chino Valley; sons George and Richard Castro, both of California; a daughter, Cristina Tyrrell of Idaho; five grandchildren; brothers Coney Orosco of Wickenburg, Raymond Espinoza and Fred Garcia of California, and Joe Garcia, Rudy Garcia and Adolph Garcia of Arizona; sisters Lilly Macias and Anita Garcia of Arizona, Irene Moya and Delores Hilerio of New Mexico, and Vera Cheatham of Illinois; and numerous nieces and cousins. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 5 from 6-8 p.m. at the Wickenburg Funeral Home Chapel, with Rosary taking place at 7:30. Funeral services will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, with burial following in the Garcia Cemetery. Fr. John Vogt will officiate.

CASTRO on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Burial at Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. Emma was born in Kassel, Germany, June 9, 1906, and passed away on Dec. 11, 2003 in Ohio. She raised her children in Wickenburg in the early 1950s, where oldest daughter Carmelita met and married popular local son Manuel "Shorty" Macias. Emma worked for many years at the Rancho Grande Motel, and after retirement relocated to California to be near her daughters Illa and Patricia. She returned to Wickenburg in 1988 and enjoyed seeing her many friends once again. Health problems moved her to Glendale, Ariz., Glendale, Calif., and eventually to Washington Court House, Ohio where she resided until her death. Emma was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, daughter Carmelita Macias in 1976, and grandson Joey Castro in 2002. Daughters Illa Sahlin, Patricia Alexander, sons George and Neal Castro, 13 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren residing in Arizona, Oregon, California, Colorado, Illinois and Ohio survive her. She will be forever missed yet forever remembered in our hearts. CLYDE CECIL, Jr. of Wickenburg, died Aug. 8 at the V.A. Hospital in Phoenix. He was 73. Mr. Cecil was born Oct. 30, 1927 in East Leavenworth, Missouri. A working cowboy from Wyoming to Arizona most of his life, Mr. Cecil managed the Big Corral in Wickenburg for the past few years. Survivors include his daughters, Jackie SPITZER of Copper Canyon, Texas and Claudia Ann SALINAS of Olathe, Kan.; sisters Jane R. MOORE of Olathe and Nancy McKIERMAN of Phoenix; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services have been held in Missouri.

BUD CHAMBERS DIES FOLLOWING ACCIDENT
Internal injuries received in an accident near Salome early last Friday morning resulted in the death at Community Hospital here Sunday of BUD CHAMBERS, age 42, a truck driver for the SED Construction Company. He had been residing in Salome recently in connection with the bridling of natural gas pipe line through that territory. Chambers was brought to the local hospital early Friday morning by two companions who told hospital attendants that the man was injured when his car struck a bridge near Salome, turned over and was wrecked. Early Sunday morning his condition became grave and an emergency operation was performed at 3 a.m. He seemed to rally after the operation but passed away a few minutes before 9 o’clock. The body was taken in the Wickenburg chapel and was sent by train that evening to Skiatook, Oklahoma, where his wife resides.

A.F. CHAMPIE, 80, Pioneer Arizonan, Is Summoned Here
Funeral services were held here Wednesday afternoon for A.F. CHAMPIE, 80-year-old Arizona pioneer, who passed away at his home in Wickenburg, on Sunday, February 11th, little more than a month after celebrating his 60th wedding anniversary. Burial was in the Wickenburg Cemetery. The Champies celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last Christmas Day. Mr. Champie was bedridden at the time. His wife, Nettie, is 78 years old.
Mr. Champie came to Arizona in 1888 from Texas. He was married four years earlier in San Antonio. He settled first in Yavapai County, engaging in mining and cattle raising. A Phoenix resident from 1908 to 1918, he moved to Wickenburg where he lived until his death. Also surviving are nine children: Mrs. Carl Roeser, Phoenix; Mrs. James Walker, Pasadena, Calif.; Mrs. R. F. Schaefer, Tucson; Mrs. James Mohme, San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. George Gemmell, Wickenburg; Mrs. Joe Lieber, Los Angeles, Calif.; Alfred C. Champie, Wickenburg; Russell Champie, Nevada City, Calif.; and James Champie, on furlough in Wickenburg after service in the Philippines with the Seabees.

Friday Rites For MRS. A. F. CHAMPIE
MRS. A. F. CHAMPIE, a resident of Wickenburg since 1919 died Tuesday afternoon in the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. H. ROESER, in Phoenix after a short illness. She was 93 years old. Funeral service will be at 10 o'clock this morning (Friday) in the Wickenburg Chapel with the Rev. James WILSON, Presbyterian minister, officiating. Burial will be in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Mrs. Champie came to Arizona in 1888 from Texas with her husband who died here in 1945. She was born in Comfort, Texas, May 12, 1868. Mrs. Champie's grandfather was a famous Indian fighter and rancher in Texas and her family has a long record of service to their communities.
Migrating to the Arizona Territory when still a young wife, Mrs. Champie lived for many years in mining towns in Yavapai County. In those early days she once shot a mountain lion out of a tree while her small children clustered around her, and on several occasions she had to cope with marauding Indians. During World War I Mrs. Champie knitted socks, sweaters and worked in other ways for her country while raising 10 children. During World War II, although in her seventies and nearly blind, she put in many hours stitching up hospital gowns and making surgical dressings. She once served on the Wickenburg School Board, helped raise funds for the building of the town's first community church, and helped establish the Ladies Aid in what is now the Presbyterian Church. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs.C. H. ROESER and Mrs. R. F. SCHAEFER of Phoenix; Mrs I James WALKER of South Pasadena, Calif.; Mrs. C. J. MOHME of Palm Springs, Calif.; Mrs. Joseph LEIBER of Los Angeles, and Mrs. George GEMMELL of Silver Bell, Ariz.; two sons, Alfred CHAMPIE of Wickenburg and James A. CHAMPIE of Winkleman, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

ALFRED CHAMPIE Funeral Monday
Funeral services were held at 11 o'clock Monday morning of this week for ALFRED JOHN CHAMPIE, member of a pioneer Arizona family, who passed away at his home on South Washington Street at 11:05 p. m. January 3. Rev. James WILSON, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church conducted the rites at the Wickenburg Chapel and burial was in the Wickenburg Cemetery where graveside services were conducted by the American Legion. A native Arizonan, Mr. CHAMPIE was born December 15, 1892, in the little mining town of Columbia, Arizona, near Castle Hot Springs. He was in the mining and ranching business all of his life. In 1921 he moved to Wickenburg and had resided here since then. He was a World War I veteran. He had never married. Surviving are a brother, James CHAMPIE of Winkleman, Ariz., and six sisters, Mrs. L. M. LOTT, Wickenburg; Mrs. Carl ROESER and Mrs. Rudolph SCHAFER, both of Phoenix; Mrs. George GEMMELL of Silver Bell, Ariz., and Mrs. James WALKER of South Pasadena, Calif.

J.M. CHAMPIE of the Castle Hot Springs area died Dec. 12 in Prescott. He was 90. Mr. Champie was the last member of a pioneer family, the A.F. CHAMPIE family. He was born when Arizona was still a territory on Feb. 11, 1906 in Phoenix. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Sarah; Son J.M. CHAMPIE, Jr. of Austin, Nevada; Stepsons John COOLEY of Tucson and Robert COOLEY of Chandler; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel, in 1971. Private family services have been held. Memorial services will be held in the spring in the Wickenburg area.

Funeral Services for Russell B. Champie, former Wickenburg resident, were held at the Wickenburg Chapel at 10: 30 a. m. Tuesday with burial in the Wickenburg cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. B. Ross CLEELAND. Mr. Champie died in Nevada City, Calif., following a brief illness, at the age of 43. A forest ranger, he was born in Prescott and received his schooling in Phoenix, attending Phoenix union High School and Phoenix Junior College. Until moving to Nevada City 12 years ago, where he served as a forest ranger in Tahoe National Forest, he resided on the Champie Ranch east of Wickenburg. The son of the late A. F. Champie, state pioneer who died last February, he is survived by his mother; his wife Olive; a daughter, Finette; two brothers, Alfred J. Mrs. Chandler, who was 31 years old and resided in Colorado Springs, Colorado, came to Wickenburg as a young child and lived here until she was 15 years old. Her parents, both deceased, are buried here. Surviving are the husband, John CHANDLER, and two children Christopher, 10, and Jane, 3 all of Colorado Springs; one brother James D. Grandma Chapman' Summoned Tuesday
Funeral services for Mrs. ADELIA JANE CHAPMAN were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Wickenburg Chapel with the Rev Carl ADAMS officiating. Burial followed in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Mrs. Chapman, familiarly known in this community as "Grandma Chapman," died at her home on the Phoenix Highway Tuesday morning. She was born February 26, 1874, in Texas and came to Wickenburg in 1931. She was the widow of the late Henry Adam CHAPMAN. Surviving are three sons: Lem of Blythe, Pete of Wickenburg and Louis of Scottsdale; two brothers and one sister who reside in Texas; 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was a member of the Four square Church.

GENEVIE GLORIA CHEESBRO, age 79, passed away Oct. 12. She was born Dec.31, 1928 in Adrian, Mich., to Archie and Lila BUTLER. She graduated from high school in 1946 at Sand Creek, Michigan. She married Eldon “Sandy” CHEESBRO Dec. 7, 1946 in Hudson, Michigan. They moved to Warren, Ohio, in the 1950s where she worked as a medical assistant. She and Eldon moved to Arizona some 30 years ago settling in Circle City. She was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed reading. She loved to play cards and often played with friends on a regular basis. Genevie is preceded in death by her husband Eldon and daughter Sandra, mother Lila, father Archie, brother Eugene and sisters Lila, Delores and June. She is survived by son Eldon E. Cheesbro (Debbie) of Congress, daughter Karen Chiarella (Anthony), son-in-law Jerry Merten of Circle City, 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, sisters MaryLou Collar, Jane Moore, Dorothea Kreighbaum and Nancy Van Neiuwenzhe, brother Bill Butler and several nieces and nephews and friends. She was loved deeply and will be missed by her family and many friends. Memorial contributions may be made in Genevie’s memory to Hospice of the Valley, 10323 W. Olive Ave. Peoria, AZ 85345. Phoenix Funeral For MARC CHERRY
Funeral services were held in the Memory Chapel of the A. L. Moore & Sons Mortuary, Phoenix, at 11:30 o’clock last Friday morning for MARC CHERRY, 18 year-old former Wickenburg resident, who died in Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix Wednesday night. Dr. Charles S. Poling of that city former Presbyterian pastor here, officiated. The youth, born in Berkeley, Calif., later lived in Phoenix until he moved to Wickenburg where he attended high school. His step-father, N. F. Archer, was with Mohave Mining & Milling Co. here until about a years ago after which the family returned to Phoenix. Survivors are his mother and step-father, Mr. & Mrs. N. F. Archer; two brothers, Stephen Cherry and Jeffrey Archer; his father Preston CHERRY of Sacramento, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. Glenn BRAY of Yuma.

VERA “KITTY” CHERRY, age 79, passed away on April 6 in Sun City West, Ariz. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 9 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Sam Weinschenk officiating. Kitty was born and raised in Columbia, S.C. She was a member of the National Honor Society in high school. She later went on to work in civil service as a court reporter for the Office of the Judge Advocate General. She met and married B.H. Cherry Nov. 22, 1947 in Columbia, S.C. They made their home in Atlanta, Georgia, where B.H. worked as a home builder and she worked as a legal secretary for a brief time then dedicated her time as a mother and homemaker. She was active raising children, involved in the local PTA. and many other community activities. After the children were older she began interior decorating and eventually worked in real estate as an agent and broker. She was also an avid golfer and served as president of the Georgia Women's Golf Association and was a member of the Atlanta Women's Golf Association as well as Atlanta Athletic Club in Duluth, Ga. Kitty was an avid bridge player both in Atlanta as well as here in Wickenburg. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Church for many years and served as president of the Lady's Aid Group within the Church. She and B.H. moved to Wickenburg in December of 1996. B.H. became a licensed contractor and real estate broker, began building homes and built several homes here in Wickenburg. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a member of Las Señoras and played bridge often. She is survived by her husband B.H. Cherry of Wickenburg; son Phil Cherry of Norcross, Ga.; daughter Marian Vermillion of Lawrenceville, Ga.; grandson Kevin Vermillion of Jefferson, Ga.; great-grandchildren Emily May Vermillion and Camron Russell Vermillion. Concluding services will take place on April 15 at 2 p.m. at Crowell Bros. Funeral Home in Norcross, Ga., with interment to follow in Peachtree Memorial Park in Norcross. Local arrangements are under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home

Funeral services for LEE CHESEBRO were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Wickenburg Chapel with the Rev. James B. Wilson, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Mr. Chesebro was admitted to Community Hospital Sunday where he underwent surgery that evening. He died Monday morning. Born September 28, 1879 in Monroe, Wis., Mr. Chesebro had lived in Wickenburg since 1924. He was a Santa Fe Railroad employee until 1935 when he retired. Surviving are the widow, Ms. Kathryn Chesebro, and one son, Lee Maxwell Chesebro.

JOHN HENRY CHICHESTER of Wittmann passed away in his home on April 29 at the young age of 49. John was born on Sept. 11, 1958. John will be greatly missed; he impacted so many lives in a positive way. John never knew anyone as an enemy. He treated everyone he came in contact with as a friend. John lived a life that few people can imagine. When he was 27 years old, his kidneys failed and he lived the next 22 years on dialysis. In the last few years of his life, he developed serious heart problems, and his general health continued to deteriorate. Through all of this he always remained positive and upbeat. He never let his problems get him down and always continued to treat everyone with kindness. His gentle spirit influenced everyone he came in contact with. John is survived by his adoptive mother Lucille, his natural mother Janelle, his brother Jim and a long list of friends.

LEONARD D. CHILLDRES of Congress died April 24 in Congress. He was 60. Mr. Chilldres was born Oct. 24, 1935 in Judsonia, Ark. He had lived in Arizona for the past eight years. Mr. Chilldres was a member of the American Legion in California and a member of the Wickenburg/Congress Kiwanis Club. He was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Chilldres was a talented furniture maker, with some of his work sold to the Wickenburg Inn and Rancho Grande Motel. He also made cabinets and was a carpenter. He wrote many books and some of his manuscripts are currently being review by publishers. He was also a very good portrait painter. Survivors include his wife, Mary; three sons, Michael, Randy and Leonard III; four daughters, Heidi, Barbi, Lenina and Lela; 13grandchidren; and a brother, Richard. Private family service has been held. All arrangements were him handled by Brown's Wickenburg Funeral Home.

GLADYS HELEN CHORMICLE of Congress, died July 31. She was 85. Mrs. Chormicle was born Aug. 11, 1915 in Dublin, Texas. She was a retired hospital sewing room technician. Survivors include her husband, William E. CHORMICLE of Congress; three daughters, Jeanette HANCE, Elaine BAGLEY and Florence JOHNSON; a sister, Nettie Van HUNTER; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Hall of fame stock contractor ALBERT “BOBBIE” CHRISTENSEN of the famed CB outfit was laid to rest April 10 in his beloved Oregon. Bobbie Senior, as he was known, was born on June 18, 1913 and passed from this world on March 30, 2007. Along with his brother Henry and sister Babe, together they built a stock contracting empire that during its “hey day” would not be matched. From the far-flung dirt arenas scattered throughout the northwest, the Christensen brothers would become known as the “cowboy's contractor.” Known inside the arena for his uncanny ability to “read” a bronc, Bobbie would be selected to pick up at the very first national finals rodeo in Dallas, Texas, in 1959 and then again in 1960 and 1961. His ability to “pluck a cowboy” to safety and to always uphold the welfare of the animal soon made him a popular choice on the rodeo circuit. He picked up broncs at the famed Calgary Stampede. In later years Winston Bruce would name him as “one of the best ever.” From the Pendleton Roundup, Ellensburg Rodeo, the Lewiston Roundup, Livermore, Oakdale, the Cow Palace, Salinas, Porterville, St. Paul, and others, Bob Christensen was not only a “cowboy's friend” but a friend to all he came in contact with. In later years he put his talents to work as a trapper for Douglas County. He had grown up with a 30-30 in his hands and a pack of traps in his saddlebags, so he felt right at home. He enjoyed his years helping protect the ranching folks, and most of all treasured the friendships developed through the years. He retired at the tender age of 85 and once again began a new adventure. This time he packed up and moved to New Mexico to live closer to his daughter and family. While there, he pulled his traps out and worked trapping beaver on the San Juan River and keeping coyotes out of the spring calves for neighbors. He was an avid supporter of his grandsons Jesse Christensen's and Brett Tatum's rodeo careers. Bob always enjoyed keeping up on news through close contact with his son Bobby Jr. He enjoyed traveling to Oregon in the fall for elk hunting and also enjoyed watching the National Finals Rodeo while visiting with his many friends at the Cowboy Reunion. Most recently he resided with his daughter Vicki in Wickenburg, Ariz. His quick smile and the ability to make others feel important and at ease will never be forgotten. He was truly a gentleman and always wanted others to succeed at whatever life handed them. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife LUCILLE WARD and later to his second wife RITA SHERMAN. He is survived by his son Bobby Christensen Jr. of Arlington, Oregon, and daughter Vicki Felder of Wickenburg, Ariz., along with eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held April 10 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Roseburg, Ore.

Rites Held for GUY CHRISTENSEN
Masons from Wickenburg and Phoenix conducted graveside services August 26 at Wickenburg Cemetery for Guy CHRISTENSEN, former resident, who died at White River, Ariz., August 23. Religious services were conducted in Phoenix prior to the removal of the body here. Mr. Christensen lived with his family here until 1951 when they sold their Rancho de Los Nonos on the California Highway (now the Rafter Ram Ranch) to Mr. & Mrs. Harry STEELE. They had been living in Phoenix. The widow and one daughter, Myrtle Mae, both of Phoenix, survive. One other daughter, Florence, died two years ago.

INEZ CHRISTENSEN went gracefully to be with the Lord on April 10, 2005. She was 83 years old. Inez was born in Iowa and served as a WAC in World War II with the Signal Corps in France. After the war, she married Don Christensen and moved to Flagstaff, Ariz., where she raised her family. For many recent years she made her home in Wickenburg, Ariz., with her daughter Donna Christensen-Henry and the Hon. John C. Henry. Inez was preceded in death by her husband Don H. Christensen, infant son Don Lee and her parents and siblings. She is survived by her daughters Diane Shine (Bill), Dona Christensen-Henry (John), sons Keith Christensen (Cindy), Brian Christensen (Becky) and Kent Christensen (Monica). She has numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. The memorial service for Inez, at which time her ashes will be interred, will be held in Flagstaff at the Flagstaff Citizen's Cemetery on her birthday, Aug. 18, 2005. Miss Christenson and her sister, Myrtle Mae Christenson, operated Rancho de Los Ninos here in 1949 and 1950. Their parents, Mr and Mrs Guy Christenson, also lived here during those years. The family now lives in Phoenix. Miss Christenson was born in Gates, Ore., June 19, 1907. She came to Arizona with her parents in 1924. She graduated from St. Mary's school of Nursing in Tucson in 1931, and was employed as a nurse in Inspiration Hospital at Miami at the time of her death. She was a member of the Laurel Chapter of Eastern Star in Phoenix. The parents and sister, who live in Phoenix, are the only survivors.

CHRISTOFFERSON Funeral Tuesday
Dr. Charles S. POLING conducted funeral services in the Wickenburg Chapel Tuesday afternoon for THORVAL R. CHRISTOFFERSON who died in Community Hospital January 10 following an illness of six weeks. Burial was in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Mr. Christofferson was born in Denmark. He came to the United States when he was two years old, the family settling in eastern Montana. He was married to the former Aline WATTS in 1935 and then moved to Post Falls, Idaho, where he worked as a welder. He came to Wickenburg with his family three years ago and has been connected with mining and milling at Aguila. Surviving are the widow, Aline; two daughters, Bonnie and Joy; and one son, Gary, all of Wickenburg; five brothers, Chris, Hans and Tony of Aguila, Nels of Clarkston, Wash., and Gerhardt of Idaho; and one sister, Bertha of Minneapolis.

RICHARD CHRZANOWSKI
RICHARD "RICHY" CHRZANOWSKI passed away on Dec. 9 after a long, full life. He was born in Rudka, Poland, on May 10, 1914. As a teen, he sought his fortune by traveling to America. He epitomized the immigrant work effort of that era: by the time he was 19, he had gone from working on a spinach farm on Long Island to owning his own meat market. From these humble beginnings, through hard work and the loving support of his wife Wanda, his butcher shop became the base for a thriving catering business, Richy's Catering Service in Brooklyn, N.Y. The Chrzanowski family grew through the 1940s and 1950s to become a family of six. After a summer vacation in 1957, the Chrzanowskis discovered Wickenburg and decided to leave New York and move to Wickenburg. Richy never stopped telling people how much he loved Wickenburg. Richy was very proud of the house he built for Wanda in honor of their 50th anniversary in 1989. Richy had many passions. He loved America and became a U.S. citizen as soon as he could. Deep-sea fishing, playing poker and cribbage were his favorite pastimes. "Pleasing people" was his motto, and this was evident by his service to others through the organizations to which he belonged. Richy was a charter member of Elks Lodge 2160. He belonged to the Lions Club and was an active member of his church - St. Anthony of Padua. He was one of the founding members of the local Knights of Columbus. Richy is in Heaven now, leaving behind his loving family including 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Wanda remains in Wickenburg at the Chrzanowski Palace. His children Bill and Barbara (Chrzanowski) Baxter live in Wickenburg; Lee and Ronni (Chrzanowski) Ahnlund are in Glendale; Richard and June Chrzanowski are in Carson City, Nev.; and Anthony and Felicia (Chrzanowski) Herriage reside in Buckeye. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requested that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley in Richy's name. The address for HOV is 1510 East Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.

Funeral services for Mr. BERNARD M. CHURCHILL, age 72, were held Saturday, May 19 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Greg Werdin officiating. Concluding services and interment followed in the Morristown Cemetery. Bernard was born in 1934 to BERTHA and MELVIN CHURCHILL in the small town of Geneva, Nebraska. He also, with his dog helped his dad in the cornfields and with many odd jobs around the farm. He went to a small one-room school until he reached the eighth grade. His mother passed away when he was 11 years old, at which time he moved into the town of Geneva where he lived with his grandmother until graduation. While in high school he participated in Future Farmers of America raising two calves and some chickens to show. Bernard’s father remarried and two boys were born - Dr. Melvin Churchill of Lincoln and Roy Churchill “deceased.” After graduation from high school he and several of his friends embarked on several different jobs, none making a go of it, so he moved to York, neb., 10 miles north and began driving a gravel truck. Here he met and married Marilyn Boling and along came a son Monty Melvin in 1956. Needing a steady paycheck, Bernard moved his small family to Lincoln, Neb., where he started working for a small company in the computer industry. They purchased a small two-bedroom house. Seven years later a daughter was born, Julie Jo in 1963. Needing life insurance for his increasing family, Bernard purchased some from a company by the name of Banker’s Life Insurance of Nebraska. The salesman mentioned that this company had an opening in the computer department and that Bernard should apply. He did and a week later he started working at Banker’s Life Insurance Company of Nebraska and stayed there for 36 years going through several different types of computer systems. Shortly after starting work there the name “Bernie” was placed on him and stayed with him until his passing. Unfortunately after 18 years, Marilyn and Bernie’s marriage ended. He met and married Diana in Lincoln. They were married May 1, 1976 and had a happy busy 31-year marriage. Diana had two children Ken and Kathleen Magruder. Both children married and have given us nine happy grandkids. Ken and wife Amy live in Greeley, Col., and have four boys and two girls from a previous marriage. Kathleen and husband Reid Baker live in Prague, Neb., and daughter Julie and husband Church Kerley live in Phoenix with daughter Kelly. In 1992 Bernie retired from the Ameritus Insurance Co., to become a stay-at-home husband. In 1994 Diana got tired of driving in the snow and ice that seemed to come every winter to Lincoln so she found a job in Wickenburg, Ariz., in the hospital medical records department. We moved out here over Memorial Day weekend and purchased a home in Circle City. Bernie loved to drive around the area making new friends so he could return later and spin some tall tales, setting on the front porch every morning talking to everyone that walked by, as he knew a lot of people around Circle City. He also enjoyed fishing –catching few fish – camping, teaching his granddaughter Kelly Jo how to fish and ride a bike, watching NASCAR races on TV, cheering for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and rooting for our favorite sons (Suns). In March of 2004 he was diagnosed with colon/liver cancer, undergoing chemotherapy weekly since that time. On Tuesday, May 15 at 5:15 p.m. he was taken from this world to continue his life in heaven and, as we all like to think, fishing and spinning tall tales with our grandpa and his dad. Arrangements were under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home.

EDWARD CHURCHILL Funeral Tuesday
The Rev. Jennings of Phoenix and Congress conducted funeral services Tuesday afternoon in the Wickenburg Chapel for EDWARD G. CHURCHILL, 40-year-old resident of Wikieup who formerly resided in Wickenburg. Burial was in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Mr. Churchill died May 9 in a hospital at Kingman following a heart attack. Born in Glendale, Ore., January 10, 1919, he had lived in Arizona for 12 years, being an automobile mechanic here until her moved to Wikieup three years ago where he operated a garage. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Dorothy Churchill; three daughters, Carol, Linda, and Donna; the mother and step-father, Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Keiffer of Springfield, Ore.; and a brother, Don Churchill of Eugene, Ore.

Mrs. DOROTHY CLARK Summoned In Texas
Friends here have learned of the death of Mrs. DOROTHY CLARK, former resident of Wickenburg, which occurred following a brief illness in a Wichita Falls, Texas, hospital September 27. While she lived here Mrs. Clark served at the Wickenburg Hospital, first under the late Dr. COPELAND and later under Dr. Floyd B. BRALLIAR. She was the daughter of Mrs. Daisy HANSON of Highlands, Texas, also a former resident of Wickenburg. For the past year Mrs. Clark had made her home in Jacksboro, Texas, with her husband and two children. At the time of her death she and Mr. Clark were operating a drive-in cafe. In addition to her husband, son and daughter and mother, Mrs. Clark is also survived by two sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 29, in the First Methodist Church of Jacksboro with burial following in the Wynn Hill Cemetery there.

JAN CLARK of Wickenburg, died Sept. 8 in Wickenburg. She was 70. Mrs. Clark was born Oct. 29, 1930 in Akron, Ohio. She was a longtime resident of Arizona, moving to the state in 1973 and first residing in Parker before coming to Wickenburg. She was a member of the Wickenburg Soroptimists Club, Chamber of Commerce, and served as chairman of the Gold Rush Days Parade. She was a real estate broker, and owner of Jan Clark Realty and Desert Breeze Apartments. She enjoyed world traveling on cruise ships. Survivors include her children, Cathy (Peter) LINTON of California, Lindee Teague of Ohio, and Mike (Nancy) CLARK and Mark (Mary) CLARK, both of Arizona; sister Marilyn REHBERG of Huntington Beach, Calif.; cousins Jack and Brigid STOEKEL and Bob and Ann SHARPE; grandchildren Annalisa and Jamie LINTON of Mission Viejo, Calif., Jenessa and McKenna TEAGUE of Gahanna, Ohio, Howard and Mitchell CLARK of Gilbert, and April, Sabrina, Nolan and Chris CLARK of Peoria; and nieces and nephews Nancy, Tim, Scott, Tood, and Cindy McCOLLUM. JUNE CLARK of Wickenburg, died July 29 in the Wickenburg Regional Care Center. She was 72. Mrs. Clark was born Jan. 13, 1924 in Harrisburg, Pa. She had lived in Arizona for the past 20 years. Mrs. Clark enjoyed spending much of her time as a volunteer Wickenburg Regional Hospital, owned a clothing store (Pat’s Boutique) for six years, was a member of the Wickenburg Country Club, and enjoyed playing bridge and bingo. She was a member of St. Alban Episcopal Church. Survivors include her son, John Martin of Texas; son-in-law Wil Scott of Wickenburg; granddaughter Michelle. (Scott) Fasso of Hinkley, Calif. and six other grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by her husband Howard "Dutch" Clark in 1991 and daughter Patricia Scott in 1994. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2 at St. Alban Episcopal Church in Wickenburg. The Rev. Dan Gerrard will officiate. Donations in Mrs. Clark’s name may be made to St. Alban's Church and the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were by Brown's Wickenburg Funeral Home.

RAY CLARK Rites Held In Oklahoma Funeral services and burial for RAY CLARK, Wickenburg resident for the past five years, were to be held in Tulsa, Oklahoma, this week. The body was shipped there Monday. Mrs. CLARK died in Community Hospital last Saturday. He was born in Texas April 27, 1891. Surviving is the widow, Mrs. Elvena CLARK. He had lived at the Count of Ivy on the Prescott Highway.

Mrs. Jean CLAUSIN flew to Spokane, Wash., Tuesday where she was called by the death of her father, C. BERT CLAUSIN, 79, who passed away that morning following a heart attack. Masonic services and burial were to be held in Spokane today (Friday). Survivors, in addition to the Wickenburg daughter, are the widow, Alma CLAUSIN; another daughter, Mrs. Lloyd G. PATTEE, Minneapolis, Minnesota, two grandsons and three great grandchildren.

Graveside services for ARLYSS W. CLEVELAND, age 86, were held on Friday, June 27 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Paul JONES of Yarnell Community Presbyterian Church officiating. Arlyss was born Dec. 4, 1921 in Albert Lea, Min., to Leslie G. Cleveland and Hazel Gilbertson Cleveland. He was raised and attended schools there and later served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. Following his military service he returned to Minnesota for a brief time and later moved to California. He became a watch repairman, which he had done for over 20 years while living in both Texas and California. He began working at the Yuma Proving Grounds where he was a scientific research photographer. After retiring he moved to Yarnell. Arlyss enjoyed wood carving and landscaping and spent a lot of time working around his home. He was preceded in death by his wife Paula on Oct. 28, 2003, a sister Nadeane CALDWELL in 2005, and parents Leslie in 1966 and Hazel in 1981. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home & Crematory.

EDNA HEDGSON CLINE of Wickenburg, died May 19 in Wickenburg. She was 87. Mrs. Cline was born Sept. 9, 1908 in Jamestown, Kan. She had lived in Arizona for the past 26 years, coming from California. Mrs. Cline was a graduate of Kansas Wesleyan University. She was a school teacher and choir director at the First Presbyterian Church of Wickenburg for many years. Both she and her husband, Glen, were very active in the church. She was a member of the P.E.O. Survivors include a nephew, Ed HODGSON of Kansas; and friends Shirley and Ralph THURLOW and Lynn and Dick STONE, all of Wickenburg. Mrs. CLINE was preceded in death by her husband in December of 1993. Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) in the Wickenburg Nursing Home. Graveside committal services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. Rev. Jim LONGSTREET will officiate. MADGE E. CLINE of Billings, Mont. and a former winter resident of Wickenburg, died Aug. 15. She was 80. Madge honored her role as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Always an elegant lady, she exuded strength in business, balance in family and a caring spirit with friends. Madge was born Oct. 23, 1920, the daughter of Katherine and Derwood PETRIE. She graduated from senior high school in 1938. Before her marriage in 1945 to Jack M. CLINE, Madge taught school in Reed Point, Mont. Madge and Jack adopted three children, Robbin, Janet, and Debbie. After Jack's death in 1974, she became president of Big Sky Linen, which she successfully increased through her tenacious business acumen. In 1982, Madge married the second love of life, Bill SCHUMACHER. Mutual respect, companionship and traveling to Arizona were threads that prevailed in their marriage until Bill's death in 1992. It is our tribute to Madge to go confidently through life, having been honored with her love and unselfish support. Survivors include her children, Robbin (Shirley), Janet PLATT (Chuck), and Debbie STRICKLIN (Joe); stepsons, Roland SCHUMACHER and Ralph SCHUMACHER; grandchildren Brett and Marcus CLINE, Nicole, Kristine and Jonathan PLATT, and Brandy K. Missing Phoenix Man Found Dead Near Morristown
WALTER L. COBLE of Phoenix, who had been missing from his home since November 24, was found died in his automobile in the bed of the Hassayampa River approximately 2 ½ miles west of Morristown last Saturday afternoon. A garden hose had been attached to the automobile’s exhaust pipe with the other end inside the car. The ignition was on although the motor had stopped when the supply of gasoline apparently became exhausted. Judge R. L. WESTALL, acting as coroner, ruled the death a suicide. The car was seen by Wilbur GILBERT, 17, of Morristown while he was gathering firewood. Gilbert noticed the hose from the exhaust pipe and went into the Morristown Grocery to report his find. Deputy sheriffs were notified by telephone and went immediately to the scene. Deputy George GUGEL said it appeared that Coble had driven his car as far into the river bed as he could before the car became stuck in the sand. He said that it appeared the 34-year-old man had been dead about seven days. The body was removed to the office of the county medical director in Phoenix.

DOROTHY LOUISE COCHRAN, of Yarnell, died of Feb. 6 in Yarnell. She was 76. She was born Dec. 7, 1919 in Poplar Bluffs, Mo. She had lived in Arizona for 12 years. Mrs. Cochran was one of 16 children born to Lon and Pearlie Miller Uhl. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Yarnell. She was very active until she became ill. She had served as a Sunday and president of the Baptist Women’s Missions Organization for several years. Mrs. Cochran is survived by her husband, Charles of Peeples Valley; daughter Wanda Kirby of DeSoto, Mo.; sisters Ella, Gearline, ShirIey, Betty, and Bertha; brothers Luther, Robert and Donald Gene; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Jr., five sisters and two brothers. Services have been held at the First Southern Baptist Church in Yarnell. Pastor W.C. Kimbler officiated. Salome Woman’s Father Summoned at Florence SALOME —- Word had been received here of the death of W. W. COCHRAN of Florence, Ariz., father of Mrs. F. H. Burd, which occurred March 8. He leaves his widow, two sons who are in the navy, and another daughter, Martha, who was recently married to Austen Haydis of Salome. Mrs. Burd has been in Florence for the past two weeks and Mr. Burd joined her there for the funeral services which were held Sunday, March 11.

Iowan Dies Here of Acute Asthma
MILTON COFFIN, 37 year-old farmer from Fairfield, Iowa, who came to Arizona for his health several months ago, passed away Sunday morning at 8:50 o’clock at the Wickenburg Hospital. Death was due to acute asthma. Mr. Coffin resided for some time at Cactus Garden Lodge, but when his condition grew steadily worse, he was admitted to the hospital here on October 19th. Mrs. Coffin, who had accompanied her husband to Arizona, returned to Iowa a few weeks ago to look after business matters and was not here at the time of his death. Surviving also are four daughters. The body was taken to the Wickenburg chapel and later returned to Iowa for burial.

KIMBLE COLEMAN, of Morristown, died Jan. 29 in Ajo. He was 87. Mr. Coleman was born Jan. 26, 1909 in Quay County, N.M. He had lived in Arizona for 24 years coming here from New Mexico. Mr. Coleman a graduate of New Mexico State University was an electrical engineer for Kennecott Copper Corp. in New Mexico. He was also a World War II Army veteran. He had many hobbies, but his main hobby was playing the fiddle. He was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers Association. He is survived by his wife of 58 years. Pauline of Morristown; daughter Fern McKinney of Phoenix; son Charles Coleman of Seligman; sister Mary Crawford of Scottsdale; grandchildren LaNette and Daylan McKinney, both of Phoenix, Duane Coleman of Seligman and Leddy Hughes of Seligman; great grandchildren Quincy and Clell Babers and Kalvin and Riley Coleman all of Seligman. Funeral services and burial have been held in the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. Pastor Renay Dorris officiated. Frey Funeral Home and Cremation Service handled all arrangements.

FINAL RITES HELD HERE TUESDAY FOR PIONEER RESIDENT
A pioneer resident Wickenburg, Mrs. JENNIE COLEMAN, age 79, died Sunday, November 17, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roberta ZERTANNA, in Phoenix. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church in Wickenburg Tuesday at 2 p. m. with burial in the Wickenburg cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. Charles A. SURBER, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, and Hassayampa Chapter No. 35, 0. E. S., of which Mrs. Coleman had long been a member. Graveside services were also conducted by the O. E. S. Mrs. Coleman came first to Wickenburg in 1917 and is well remembered by all old residents here. Always very active, she at one time operated a rest home on Jefferson Street. She had lived with her daughter in Phoenix for the past several years. Only other immediate survivor is a grandson, Jim Don BAILLIE.

Mrs. Baker's Father Died In California
Mr. & Mrs. Charley BAKER and children returned from Compton, California, Sunday where they had been called at the death of Mrs. Baker's father, JOSEPH COLEMAN, on September 28. Funeral services for the 67-year old man were conducted in Compton last Saturday afternoon. In addition to Mrs. Baker, survivors include the widow and six other children: Frank COLEMAN, Edward COLEMAN and Eugene COLEMAN, all of Compton; Mrs. Katheryn SCOTT, Gardenia, Calif.; Mrs. Roseline DENNIS, Bell, Calif.; and Mrs. Vera MURRAY, Compton.

JESSE GERALD COLYAR, of Morristown, died Jan. 12 in Morristown. He was 60. Mr. Colyar was born Dec. 15, 1935 in Port Angeles, Wash. He had lived in Arizona for two years, coming here from Washington. Mr. Colyar served in the U.S. Marines. He then became a truck driver, traveling throughout the country for many years. He spent the majority of his life in Washington. He was loved by many and will be missed dearly. He is survived by his daughter, Starla Ronish of Washington. Private family services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 17 (today) at Wickenburg Funeral Home with interment in Washington. Arrangements were handled by Brown's Wickenburg Funeral Home.

VIRGINIA P. COMBS passed away Nov. 16 at her residence in Wickenburg. She was born Nov. 25, 1918 in Summit, N.J. Virginia was raised there and attended schools there. She graduated from Chatham Hall in Virginia. She later married Fredrick GILBERT, and following their divorce she moved to Denver, Colo., where she met and married Harry B. COMBS. They made their home in Denver and have been wintering in Wickenburg for the last 30 years. Mrs. Combs was extremely active in the Kenmore Foundation in Virginia, and she worked on behalf of the Desert Caballeros Western Museum and was actively involved with the Friends of Music here in Wickenburg.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harry B. COMBS in 2003, and a son Christopher T. GILBERT in 2002. She is survived by daughter Victoria GILBERT of Los Angeles, Calif.; son and daughter in-law Joan GILBERT of Denver, Colo.; stepchildren Terry COMBS and Tony COMBS both of Denver, Colorado, and Clara MOORE of Montrose, Colo. 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, Nov. 19 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church with Fr. Dan GERARD officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Desert Caballeros Western Museum at 21 N. Frontier Street, Wickenburg, AZ 85390. On beautiful angel wings, BETTY LOUISE CONLEY's spirit left her body on Sept. 23. She was with us for 81 years. Her husband Bert CONLEY, parents Claude and Louise MORRIS, in-laws Ross and Doscar CONLEY, many relatives and friends were waiting her arrival. Her children Larry CONLEY, Elaine SWEETLAND, Alberta DURAN and Bob CONLEY, brothers Edward and Donald MORRIS, sisters Violet PLUMB, Rosalee HATCH and Sharon FULLER will truly miss her, as well as her many family members and friends. There will be a celebration of her life at Bill and Elaine Sweetland’s residence in Mayer, Ariz., on Oct. 25.

ELAINE CONLEY, of Wenden, died March 2 in Lake Havasu City. She was 86. Mrs. Conley was born Sept. 24, 1909 in Wenden. She had lived in Arizona one year, coming here from California. Mrs. Conley was raised in Wenden. She worked at her parent’s mine, the Gold Star Mine, driving the one truck back into Wickenburg. The gold Star Mine, which her parents started, is located in the Wenden area. Mrs. Conley enjoyed humor with her friends, reading, and listening to the radio and TV. She is survived by her friends Betty Robrig and Stella Lee, both of Wenden. Interment will be held in a later date in the Wenden Cemetery. Frey Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of all arrangement.

Funeral Rites For Mrs. Julia CONNELL Held Here Tuesday
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon of this week. at the Wickenburg Chapel for Mrs. Julia A. Connell, widow of Tom CONNELL, one-time Wickenburg Town Marshal. Mrs. Connell passed away at her home here at 9 p.m. Friday, December 2. She was born in Massachusetts, February 14, 1876, and had lived in Wickenburg for the past 20 years. No close relatives survive. Burial was in the Wickenburg Cemetery.

BARBARA S. CONROY, a former resident of Wickenburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, in St. Louis, Mo. She was 90 years old. Mrs. Conroy was born in Pony, Mont. on Feb. 17, 1913, to Lee S. and Mary Ellen (O'Brien) Tower. After attending grade school and high school in Dillon, she received her degree in Education from the University of Montana-Western in 1931. After graduation, she taught in both Twin Bridges and Whitefish. In 1937, she married William F. (Bill) Conroy, an electrical engineer with the Great Northern Railway. Their daughter, Carol Ann, was born in 1942 in Waltham, Mass. Between 1942 and 1945, Mrs. Conroy raised their daughter while her husband served with the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific. After World War II, the family lived in Wenatchee, Wash. before moving to Anaconda in 1951, where Bill Conroy took a job as Superintendent and later General Manager of the Butte, Anaconda & Pacific Railway. While living in Anaconda, Mrs. Conroy was a substitute teacher and was active in numerous community organizations including the Girl Scouts, the Catholic community and school system, and the Anaconda Women's Club. Barbara and Bill played golf regularly at the Anaconda Country Club, were avid bridge players, and enjoyed spending time outdoors at their cabin at Georgetown Lake. Later in life, they began spending winters in La Paz, Mexico and then in Wickenburg where they continued to relish their time on the golf course and at the bridge table. She also took pleasure in needlework, enamel and copper crafts, and silver jewelry making. After her husband died in 1992, Mrs. Conroy lived in Wickenburg year-round. She moved to St. Louis in 1997 to be closer to her daughter. Mrs. Conroy is survived by Carol Ann and her husband Karl Barnickol, by her grandchildren Karl (Sara) and Laura (Bob Wilhelm) Barnickol, her sister Polly Bohnert, and her sister-in-law Dorothy Long. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her granddaughter Mary Beth, her sister Mary Lee and brother William C. Tower. RAYMOND E. COOK, of Yarnell, died Feb 6 in Glendale. He was 83. Mr. Cook was born April 3, 1912 in Precept, Neb. He had lived in Arizona for 71 years, coming from Nebraska. Mr. Cook was honored with prizes and recognition for his farming ability of setting records in cotton production, and innovations in irrigation and cultivation. He liked gardening, fishing and hunting. He will be missed by a host of friends in Yarnell and the Salt River Valley. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maxine, of Yarnell; daughter Nancy White of Phoenix; sons Richard and Darrell Cook, both of Glendale, and David Cook of Kingman; sister Wilma McDonald of Phoenix; brother Robert Cook of Glendale; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation and funeral services have been held at the Yarnell Community Presbyterian Church. Graveside services and burial were in the Genung Cemetery. Dr. Jay H. Confair officiated. JULIEN DALE COOK Funeral Saturday
Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at the Wickenburg Chapel for JULIEN DALE COOK, a resident of Wickenburg for the past six years, who passed away shortly after noon Wednesday at Community Hospital. He had been admitted to the hospital earlier that day. Mr. Cook was born November 26, 1881 in Austin, Texas, and came to Arizona when he was 14 years of age, helping to drive cattle through to the Wilcox area. He was a rancher and for many years was a saddle maker for Porter's in Phoenix. Mrs. Cook died a year ago. Surviving are a son, J. D. COOK of Phoenix and two daughters, Mrs. B. T. PERRY of Phoenix and Mrs. Charles SCANLON of Burbank, Calif. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Bill BARKER of the First Baptist Church and burial will follow in the Wickenburg Cemetery.

Mrs. Cook was a retired nurse, and had worked many years at Wickenburg Community Hospital. WANDA COOK died Feb. 2 in Wall Lake, Iowa. She was 74. Mrs. Cook was a longtime winter resident of Wickenburg. Hold Final Rites For FRED COON, Sr.
Funeral services were held in Wickenburg Tuesday morning for FREDERICK INGRAM COON, veteran employe of the Santa Fe Railway and a resident in this vicinity Since 1924, who passed away Thursday, July 26 at the Santa Fe Hospital in Los Angeles. A heart attack was the cause of his death following an illness of only a. few days. For the past four years Mr. Coon, well known throughout this part of the state had been section foreman for the Santa Fe at Bouse. He was born in 1877 in Green Island. New York. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World. Rev. B. Ross CLEELAND of the Presbyterian Church conducted the funeral services at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning at the Wickenburg Chapel and burial followed in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Surviving are the widow Mrs. Lillie Coon; four daughters: Mrs. F. D. RAWLS and Mrs. Dollie GATES of Wickenburg and Mrs. Edna RENICK and Mrs. Victoria ERWIN of Salt Lake City, Utah and a son. Fred, Jr.of Wickenburg. Four grandchildren also survive. All members of the family were present for the funeral except Mrs. Erwin who was unable to come because of illness.

Heart Attack Proves Fatal to GUY COOPER
Desert Caballeros throughout the country will learn with sorrow of the death of one of their members, GUY D. COOPER, of Naperville, Ill., which occurred following a heart attack while he was in Washington, D. C. recently on business. He was eating breakfast in a Washington hotel the morning of October 11 when he was stricken and died without regaining consciousness, according to a message received by gene Francis of Phoenix, executive secretary of the Desert Caballeros. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 14, in Naperville. Mr. Cooper is survived by the widow and two sons. He was engaged in the trucking business and his trucking lines operate throughout the middlewest and east. He rode with the Desert Caballeros from 1955 through 1959 and again last year. He had been a winter guest here at the Monte Vista and Slash bar K guest ranches.

MILTON CORDRAY Rites Pending
Funeral services are pending for MILTON CORDRAY, 74 year-old Wickenburg resident, who died in Community Hospital Monday evening. Mr. Cordray had lived here many years and friends say he spoke of helping the late Mrs. Elizabeth Smith, who operated the Hassayampa Hotel in years gone by, build Wickenburg’s first theatre at the east end of the underpass. He was a plasterer by trade until his retirement. He lived for many years at 526 North Adams, then resided in a trailer at Forepaugh for about one year and just about a month ago had moved his trailer to Wittmann. He was injured in a fall about two weeks ago. Monday he was brought to Community Hospital by ambulance and died a few hours after his arrival. His wife died in Wickenburg in 1953. Only known survivor is a step-daughter, Mrs. Verna Hutson, Los Angeles. Mr. & Mrs. Perry Ball were his neighbors here and were considered as his closest friends.

WALTER WESLEY COUGHRAN, SR. died June 21 at his home in Congress, Ariz. He was born Dec. 17, 1912 in Skull Valley, Ariz., to lifelong Yavapai county residents and Arizona natives Pearl Marie ROBERTS and James Wiley COUGHRAN, a second generation Arizonan. Walter grew up in an Arizona Pioneer family and then worked for Yavapai County Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1975. He became a rancher and heavy equipment operator in Skull Valley for many years before relocating to Congress, where he resided until his death in June. Walter spent his free time hunting and fishing throughout Arizona. His passion was gardening, and “grandpa” was always ready to share the wonderful vegetables from his garden. Walter is survived by his beloved sister Hulda Christopherson, son Walter COUGHRAN, Jr, grandson Jeffrey COUGHRAN, granddaughter Tina (COUGHRAN) LANDESS PETRICH, and two great-grandchildren Julianne and Jacqueline LANDESS PETRICH. Walter was a devoted caregiver to his pets and is also survived by Princess. Grandpa Walt will be truly missed by anyone who knew him. A private memorial service will take place at a later date. The Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

ROBERT J. COUSINS Sr., born April 2, 1931 in Oelwein, Iowa, died Jan. 29 in Wickenburg, Ariz. He was the son of Albert and Floy (HOCKADAY) COUSINS. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was an active member of the American Legion in Minnesota and Arizona. He was also one of the elite 40/8 serving as the Grand Chef de Gare in 1981-1982, as well as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a long time resident of Moorhead, Minn. He worked for Clay County. He also was a bridge engineer, when he retired to Wickenburg, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Glen COUSINS. When he came to Arizona he met his significant other Jayne JOHNSON and her family. Bob loved to be out on the lake. He also was a golfer, among other sports, with Jayne. After a long illness he is at peace with the Lord. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday (Feb.14) at the Kellis Draper Post 12 in Wickenburg. Arrangements are by David’s Desert Chapel Funeral Home.

DEE J .C. COX of Morristown, died May 13 in Morristown. He was 71. Mr. Cox was born Jan. 28, 1925 in Willow Springs, Mo. He had lived in Arizona for the past year, coming from California. Mr. Cox was the youngest of 13 children born to Charles and Tennessee (Cordelia) Cox. He left home at 14 and rode freight trains across the Midwest to Nebraska, where he found work and also competed in rodeos. At 16 he lied about his age and joined the Army, when World War II broke out. In the army, Mr. COX was sent to the South Pacific where he was injured. His troops had to leave him behind as the Japanese approached. He was taken in by a tribe of natives on Luzon in the Philippines and released back to U.S. troops after 18 months of recuperation. While in the army Mr. Cox was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Medal, American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal World War II, Combat Infantryman's Badge, and a Bronze Star. After the war Mr. Cox became the largest supplier of rodeo livestock in the Northwest, and had the largest Charlais cattle ranch in New Mexico. He spent two years building highways across Africa and worked on three of the largest dams in North America. Mr. Cox wrote country western music and always wore custom-made personally designed western clothing. Horses were his hobby. Mr. Cox will be remembered as of the last of the old time cowboys. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Jean, of Morristown; son and daughter-in-law Steve and Carlota COX of California; brothers Daniel Jay COX of Spokane, Wash. and David Charles COX of Hilo, Hawaii; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Thursday Rites For L. V. CRABB
Funeral services for L. V. CRABB, long time Wickenburg resident, were scheduled to be conducted at 11:30 o’clock Thursday morning of this week at A. L. Moore Mortuary in Phoenix. Burial was to be in Greenwood Memorial Park there. Mr. Crabb, who resided at 468C North Adams Street, became ill Monday and was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Phoenix. He died there at 5 o’clock the following morning. Born in Pomona, Calif., December 27, 1887, Mr. Crabb came to Arizona when he was three years old and ranched, raised cattle and mined in the Aguila, Bagdad and Wickenburg areas all his life. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Jennie E. Crabb; two daughters, Mrs. Verna Mae Slagel of Phoenix, and Mrs. Sarah Lee Perner of Seligman; and two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Garner of Phoenix and Mrs. Eva Kane of California.

DONALD EDWIN CRAIG was born Feb. 4, 1931 and passed away March 12. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Donald moved to Wickenburg in 1979 and was a member of the Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post 12, the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star, Shriners, and the Gold Shirt Gang. He is survived by his wife Barbara; children Kathryn, Michael, Gary, Keri and Kim; stepchildren Clifford and Charlien; grandchildren Rachel, Yolonda, Kelly, Anthony, and Casey; step-grandchildren Amanda, David, Austin, Shealise and Coby; and great-granddaughter Jadalyn. Don was a long-haul truck driver his entire life, and he’s driving that 18-wheeler to Heaven.

FRANK CRAMER IS SUMMONED
Pioneer Prospector Ill Only Short Time
FRANK CRAMER, resident of the Wickenburg community for the past 20 years, passed away early last Monday morning at the Community hospital in Wickenburg, where he had been a patient since August 1. His death was caused by a tumor. Mr. Cramer had apparently been strong and healthy up until some five or six weeks ago when he suddenly started failing and was placed in the hospital for treatment. He was 64 years of age. According to Ed HILL, an old friend of the deceased, Mr. Cramer was born in Austria and came to the United States about 21 years ago. He had no living relatives in this country. He operated the Scott Lead mine about 30 miles from here in the Buckhorn Mountains and was also interested in the Tonopah-Belmont mine. Funeral services were conducted from the Wickenburg Chapel Thursday morning with burial in the Wickenburg cemetery.

CLAUD CRAWLEY DIES SUDDENLY
Popular Musician and W. P. A. Agent Suffers Fatal Attack After New Year Dance
Tragedy trailed the heels of merriment early New Year morning. When CLAUD (SLIM) CRAWLEY well known in Wickenburg as a musician and employment agent for the W.P.A. suffered a sudden hemorrhage after returning from a dance and expired in the arms of his wife at their home six miles west of town. He had been furnishing music for a New Years eve party at a ranch house, and reached his home after midnight. Feeling the attack coming on he went outdoors and there Mrs. CRAWLEY found in a critical state. She was alone with him and little could be done to help his pitiable condition. He passed away murmuring the prayers which Mrs. CRAWLEY repeated as she held the dying man. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. Reese SCULL, and interment took place in the Wickenburg cemetery. The services were largely attended and many floral offerings were received. The pall bearers were Jesse YOUNGBLOOD, Dr. KAISER, Earl STEWART, Ethel WILMETH, J. F. MAPP and John PERRIN. Claud CRAWLEY was born in Mississippi March 26, 1892. For a numbers of years he followed the trade of oil derrick building and Wickenburg in 1928. His sunny rigging in Texas. He came to disposition and ability as a singer and musician made him a host of friends. He survived by his wife, Bertha, three sisters, living in Denver, Colorado, and a brother in Houston, Texas.

Sick Baby Rushed To Hospital Here But Died Enroute
Misfortune overtook a California family traveling on Highway 60-70-89 near Wittmann early Monday morning. The two children of Mr. & Mrs. Carl R. CRENSHAW, Sandra, age 18 months, and the baby, Terry Lee, six months, were both taken ill and the parents called upon Highway Patrolman Dick SHAFER for assistance. He rushed the baby to Community Hospital here where the child was pronounced dead upon arrival. The little girl was hospitalized with tonsillitis. The body of the baby was to be taken to Blackfoot, Idaho, for burial, reported Shafer.

Hold rites for JAMES CRAYNE
Graveside rites were conducted in the Wickenburg Cemetery at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning for JAMES E. CRAYNE, 73, who died in Community Hospital last Saturday morning. R.B. SULLIVAN, lay reader of St. Albans Episcopal Church, officiated. Mr. CRAYNE was born in Kentucky on June 2, 1889. He resided in Oregon and later in Washington before moving to Wickenburg 6 years ago. In the northwest he owned an apartment house and worked in a furniture store. Surviving are the widow, Dixie, one stepson, Jack CRAYNE of Wittmann; the father J.F. CRAYNE of Toppenish, Washington, who was 96 years old on Sunday; one brother, C.C. CRAYNE of Gridley, Calif.; two sister, Mrs. Henry KORTER of Yakima, Wash., and Mrs. Jack GREER of Tucson; and a nephew, Ben CRAYNE of Wickenburg.

VALERIE CRESS, March 2, 1934 - Nov. 16, 2008
VALERIE CRESS was born in Seattle, Wash., and passed away at her home in Buckeye, Ariz., surrounded by friends and family. Valerie took pride and devoted her life to her husband of 55 years Bill; her children Cami, Curt and Kelly, and breeding and raising winning Quarter Horses. When Valerie was 9, her family moved to Yuma, Ariz. It was there that her father Frank Hogue started growing produce. It was also in Yuma that Valerie met Bill Cress. In 1957 Valerie and Bill moved to Wickenburg and began developing the F.H. Hogue Ranch in Aguila. The Cress' moved to Aguila in 1960. It was there that they raised their family, cattle, produce and Quarter Horses. It was in 1964 that the Cress' first got involved in horses when Cami started 4-H. From those humble beginnings the Cress' owned, bred and showed some of the best horses in the entire country. It was on the Aquila ranch that Schottische was born. She was by Dart Bar and out of the Cress' mare Penny Pawnee. Schottische earned more than 600 AQHA Points in Western Pleasure and was the first horse inducted into the NSBA Hall of Fame. Bill and Valerie then bred Penny Pawnee to Arizona's Supreme Champion, Study Hall. The resulting colt was appropriately named Physical Ed, He went on to earn four AQHA World Championships, AQHA Hi Point Pleasure Driving horse and was the earner of over 650 AQHA points. During their time in Aguila the Cress' also stood stallions, Poco Buzz Boy, Parker's Dandy and Mr. Red Ant. Kelly Cress won three AQHYA Reserve Championships with Tee Jay Jag, Handy Opie and home-bred Miss Red Satin. Valerie was very involved in the Sun Circuit serving as a volunteer in the Hospitality Room for many years. After retiring the Cress' moved to Buckeye. Valerie is survived by her husband Bill, sister Sharon Akers, three children Cami (Rod) Elliott, Curt (Bobbi) Cress and Kelly Evans. Valerie has five grandchildren, Levi and Jani Elliott, Malerie and Coby Cress and Clay Burns. The family requested memorials be sent to Valerie Cress, Hospice Inspiris, 2025 N. MATILDA M. CRILEY of Aguila, died Feb. 24 in Sun City West. She was 85. Mrs. Criley was born May 10, 1910 in Burr, Neb. She had lived in Arizona for 16 years. She was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church, most recently belonging to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wickenburg. The first church she and her family attended was in Fort Morgan, Colo. and services were only spoken in German. Her hobbies included flying, traveling and crafts. Mrs. CRILEY is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lewis, of Aguila; daughter Mera Louise ANDERSON of Golden, Colo.; son Paul A. of Westminster, Colo.; sisters Evalena WITTER of Beaveton, Ore., Goldie SCHNEGELBERGER of Fort Morgan, Colo., Hazel SMITH of Thornton, Colo., and Doris NEB of Wiggins, Colo.; brother Lavern HENKE of Longmont, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald CRILEY in 1991, and sister, Leona OSTWALD in 1995. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 28 (today) at 2:30 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Pastor Ed WESSLING will officiate. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Denver, Colo. Arrangements were handled by Brown's Wickenburg Funeral Home.

ELLA M. CRINER of Yarnell, died Feb. 6 in Yarnell. She was 69. Mrs. Criner was born April 20, 1927 in Russelville, Ark. She had lived in Arizona for the past 10 years. Survivors include her husband, Edward Criner of Yarnell; daughters Betty Bailey of Yarnell and Patty Nopp of Yakima, Wash.; son James Criner of Anchorage, Alaska; brother James McKienzie of California; sisters Grace Charves of California, Kathleen Kaine of California, and Jean Clark of Arkansas; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services have been held.

ISADORE FRANK CRITELLE of Wickenburg, died Sept. 13 in Phoenix. He was 74. Mr. Critelle was born Jan. 16, 1927 in North Adams, Mass. He was a cook, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by many friends. Services will be today, Wednesday, Sept. 19, at 10 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., in Cave Creek.

Friends here of the Oliver Corbin family, former Wickenburg residents, were saddened last week to learn of the death Mr. Corbin's mother, Mrs. ANNA B. CORBIN which occurred July 13 at Alhambra, Calif. where the family had lived for several years. Mrs. Corbin who was 79 years of age, had been in ill health for two years. Services were held July 15 at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Schools are Dismissed and Teaching Staff Attends Services in Phoenix.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Memory chapel of A. L. Moore & Sons, Phoenix for the Rev. Oliver Lee CORBIN, who passed away here Tuesday night after a long illness, at the home of his son, Oliver L. CORBIN, Jr. The Rev. Fred LINE, pastor of the First Congregational church of Phoenix spoke, and two hymns, "O, Love That Will Not Let Me Go" and "O Master, Let Me Walk With Thee" were sung. Burial was in Greenwood Memorial cemetery. The pall bearers were R. S. EIMICKE, J. R. BARNETTE, John O'BRIEN, L. P. JOHNSON, L. F. COOR and H. K. MACLENNAN. The Wickenburg schools were dismissed out of respect to Reverend CORBIN, and the teachers attended the services in a body, as well as many friends of the family in Wickenburg. Mr. CORBIN, who was 72 years old, was born in Highland, West Virginia, and had been a minister in the Congregational church for 45 years at the time of his resignation, three years ago. He and Mrs. CORBIN came to Wickenburg two and one-half years ago from Wichita, Kansas. Mr. Corbin was a graduate of the Theological Seminary at Adrian, Michigan, and a member of the Masonic lodge and the I. O. O. F., holding membership in both lodges at Anthony, Kansas. During his years of service, he was a pastor of churches in Douglas, Wyoming, Creed, Colorado, Buena Park, Perris and San Francisco, Calif.; Anthony, Kansas, Manchester and Waynoka, Oklahoma. The survivors are his wife, Anna B. CORBIN, two sons, George E. of Wichita, Kan., and Oliver L., who has been a teacher here for the past five years; two grandchildren, Joan Lee CORBIN, Los Angeles, and Lee Lelatour CORBIN, Wickenburg, and a brother and two sisters in the east.

Accidental Wound Fatal to Youth
HOWARD CREECH, 17, of Salome, died Wednesday afternoon at the Wickenburg hospital as a result of accidental gunshot wounds received in a freak accident on February 12th. Funeral services are pending awaiting word from the boy’s father in Stanton, Texas.

DAVID K. CREMER, age 83, passed away Aug. 4 at his home in Salome. He was born March 7, 1925 in Kankakee, Ill., to David K. Cremer, Sr. and Leifa Cremer. He moved to Arizona in 1956 settling in Phoenix and worked for Garrett Corporation as an electronic engineer, retiring in 1983. David was active in the Boys Club and was a member of the NRA as well as an avid gardener. He was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Schrader. David is survived by his wife Ina Cremer of Salome and children Dawn Patterson ( Dennis) of Salome; Doug Cremer (Sharon) of Caldwell, Idaho; Greg Cremer (Christie) of Nampa, Idaho; Rick Cremer (Chris) of Sarasota, Fla., Mark Kitson of Lima, Ohio; Brent Kitson ( Sally) of Goleta, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers George Cremer of Kingman, Ariz.; and Jerry Cremer of South Bend, Ind. Services Saturday For JOHN V. CRONE
Christian Science services will be held in Wickenburg Chapel at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday) for JOHN V. CRONE who died in Community Hospital early Wednesday morning. Masonic services will be held at the grave in Wickenburg Cemetery. Mr. Crone was born January 11, 1883, in Oklahoma. Mr. Crone was a commercial wood carver in Los Angeles for 25 years before he retired in Wickenburg in 1951 where he and Mrs. Crone purchased the Frank Beaver home at 153 North Lincoln Street. Since coming here, he carved 71 horses, each from a different kind of wood and each in a different pose and the group is considered to be a collector's item. As his health failed, he switched from carving to cutting and polishing stones as a hobby. In her early days, Mrs. Crone was the first woman railroad station agent west of the Rockies. Survivors include the widow; three daughters, Mrs. Eula WIRTZ of Grants Pass, Oregon, Mrs. Opal GONZALES of Continental Divide, N.M., and Mrs. Iona SAULSBERRY of Santa Rosa, Calif.; four sons, Roy of Sandy, Oregon, J. A. of Santa Rosa, Calif., T. V. of Phoenix, Guy of Torrance, Calif., and J. C. of Houck, Ariz. Living brothers and sisters are Claude CRONE, Wichita Falls, Texas; Elbert CRONE, Quemado, N.M.; Mrs. Leola DICKERSON and Mrs. Althea HURST, Albuquerque, N.M.; and Mrs. Pearl McMEANAMY and Mrs. Maude HARE of Sentinel, Oklahoma.

Widely Known Guide Who Died Last Week, Local Woman's Uncle
Wednesday's Republic carried a story about the death last week of WILLIAM (Uncle Billy) CROSBY, 82, widely known guide, cowboy and one-time Indian interpreter, who was a familiar figure to thousands of tourists and hunters at Jacob Lake Lodge in Northern Arizona, "Uncle Billy" was the uncle of Mrs. Georgia JACKSON of Wickenburg, and had been a visitor in our town a number of times.

GEORGE WESLEY CULP of Yarnell, died Monday, March 6th at the age of sixty-three. Mr. Culp was well known in this vicinity having come to Arizona in 1916 from New Mexico. Nine children survive him.

JACK JESSE CULP, 81, passed away at home with his wife, daughters, and family by his side in Congress, Ariz., on Sept. 28. Graveside services were in Genung Cemetery in Peeples Valley. Jack was born March 15, 1927 in Peeples Valley to the late Sarah Leisering Culp and George Wesley Culp. He grew up in Peeples Valley and Yarnell. He enlisted in the Navy during World War II and was in the CBs after the war. He also served in the reserves. Jack was proud of the time he served his country. After the war Jack met and married Laura A. Warren on Nov. 9, 1946 in Yarnell, Ariz. They have two daughters, Alice M. Culp, and Anita L. Culp. Jack worked at various ranches in the area. He worked at the Iron King Mine in Humboldt, Ariz., and also the Bagdad Copper Mine. Jack loved to team rope when he lived in Bagdad. He belonged to the Bagdad Sheriff's Posse. He became land manager for Cypress-Bagdad Copper Mine in Wikieup, Ariz. They lived there for several years, then Jack retired. Jack and Laura then moved back to the Congress area in 1989. Jack is preceded in death by his parents Sarah Leisering Culp and George Wesley Culp; brothers Gene CULP, Logan CULP, Charles Wesley CULP, George Lee CULP; and sister Dora CULP SISTRUNK. He is survived by his wife Laura A. CULP; daughter Alice M. OWENS and son-in-law Terry Owens of Tucson; daughter Anita L. Morrison and son-in-law Gary MORRISON of Archer City, Texas; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sisters Dean Shaw and brother-in-law Marvin SHAW of Yarnell, Ariz.; Jayne STOFFER and brother-in-law Bill STOFFER of Cottonwood, Ariz.; brother Robert CULP and sister-in-law Joyce CULP of Elko, Nevada; Aunt Evelyn "Babe" RUBASH of Wickenburg, Ariz.; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. He will be forever loved by all who knew him and will not be forgotten. Family suggests memorial contributions in his memory to Prescott Hospice Family Care Foundation, 1000 E. Called To Florida By Mother's Death
Harold CUMMINGS was called to Miami, Florida, last week by the death of his mother, MRS. A. W. CUMMINGS which occurred at midnight April 24, following a brief illness. Mrs. CUMMINGS was 70 years of age, having celebrated that birthday last September while she was in Wickenburg visiting her son and family. In addition to her husband and the son Harold, she is survived by another son, Edwin CUMMINGS of Sandusky, 0hio, and two daughters, Mrs. Edna CARNES and Mrs. Anita PECK, both of Miami; also 10 grandchildren. Funeral services were held last Saturday in Miami.

EMILY CUMMINGS of Wickenburg, died Jan. 16 in Wickenburg; She was 80. Mrs. CUMMINGS was born Nov. 26 1915 in Philadelphia, Penn. She had lived in Arizona for 50 years coming here from North Miami Beach, Fla. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and was currently the treasurer for the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Soroptomist Club of Wickenburg. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Harold W. CUMMINGS of Wickenburg; daughter Shirley RALLS of Phoenix; son Glenn Cummings of Wickenburg; brothers Bill and Bob BOYER both of North Carolina; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services have been held. The Rev. Dan Gerrard officiated; Interment was in the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be made to in Mrs. Cummings's name to the Eastern Star, P.O. LONNIE RAY CUMMINS of Phoenix died Sept. 20 in Phoenix. He was 45. Mr. Cummins was born Oct. 10, 1950 in St. Louis, Ill. He had lived in Arizona for two months. Survivors include his daughters Jennifer and Chrissy; sisters Dorothy McBride of Wickenburg. Judy Bianco of Phoenix , Cille Thompson of Cordes Junction and Retta Muelot of Los Angles; brothers John Cummins of Collinsville and Robert Cummins, of Collinsville. Roy Cummins of Caseyville, Ill, Leonard Cummins of Collinsville and Roy Cummins of Caseyville; and several nieces and nephews. Lonnie had been working as a mason for a construction company in Phoenix. Visitation was held Tuesday (Sept. 24) at 6 p.m. at the Wickenburg Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services were conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 24) at the Wickenburg Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Abodollazadeh officiating. Cremation with remains interred will be held at a later date. Brown's Wickenburg Funeral Home Inc., handled all the arrangements.

Mrs. Field's Mother Died In Washington
MRS. ETTA CURRAN, 81, mother of Mrs. Earl FIELD, passed away in Aberdeen, Washington, April 27. Funeral services were conducted in that city on Monday morning of this week. Mrs. FIELD left Phoenix by plane for Aberdeen the day before her mother died. In addition to the Wickenburg daughter, Mrs. CURRAN is survived by two sons, Ben CURRAN of Aberdeen, and Clarence CURRAN of Grayland, Washington.
