SAND, Albert

Albert Sand, 52, Phoenix winter visitor and former resident, died yesterday, (3 Jan 1960) in St. Joseph's Hospital. Mr. Sand, who for the past ten years had lived in Beatrice, Nebraska, was a Phoenix resident prior to 1951. His Phoenix vacation address was 1307 E. Colter. In Beatrice, he was a retailer for the Beatrice Recreation Co., a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and of the American Legion. He was a World War II veteran. Surviving are his wife, Minnie, of Beatrice who accompanied him to Phoenix; his mother, Mrs. Pearl Sand, Barnston, Nebraska; two daughters, Mrs. Marcia J. Reed, Phoenix, and Mrs. Dorothy Ann Staehs, Sacramento, California; two sons, Kenneth W. of Barnston and Gerald A. of Topeka, Kansas; a brother and a sister, both out of state and nine grandchildren. Funeral services for Terry Schaier, 40, who died Thursday in Wickenburg, will be conducted tomorrow at Mercer Mortuary, 1541 E. Thomas. Rabbi Milton Shulman will officiate. Cyrus M. Sherrill, 75, taken ill in Phoenix while en route to California, died yesterday at Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Sherrill was a resident of Waterloo, Iowa, where he was a purchasing agent for the Chamberlain Co. He had been employed there for 52 years. Mr. Sherrill and his wife were traveling to California to visit relatives when he became ill. Arrangements are being made by the Mercer Mortuary to send the body to Waterloo for services and burial. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alice Sherrill; a daughter, Mrs. Vincent Kremenak; Portales, N. M.; a foster daughter, Mrs. Maynard Dyer, Plattsville, New York, and two sisters and two brothers living out of state. A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Mr. Smith came to Arizona in 1915 and had been a resident of Ajo since 1937. He was a car repairman for Phelps Dodge before his retirement. STOLAROFF, Myer

Tucson -- Graveside funeral services for Myer Stolaroff, 67, a Benson merchant who died in Tucson Medical Center January 11, 1960, were conducted at Evergreen Cemetery. A color guard and firing squad from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base conducted military graveside services at Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Stolaroff had operated the Fair Store, a retail clothing business, in Benson since 1931. Born in Russia, he came to the United States in 1904. He lived in El Paso and Douglas before moving to Benson in 1914. A veteran of World War I, he was active in the American Legion. He was a past state vice commander of that organization. He also was a member of 40 and 8. He never married. He is survived by three sisters, Dr. Ethel Stoliar and Miss Jennie Stolaroff, both of New York City, and Mrs. Judith Feldman, Roswell, N. M.; and four brothers, Frank, Santa Fe, N. M., Sam, of Roswell, and two brothers who live in Europe. The AZ Republic Jan. 14, 1960.

A building inspector at Williams Air Force Base, he was a civil service worker.
