RAGLAND, Harry Walter, (H. W.)

Private funeral services for Harry Walter (H. W.) Ragland, 75, who died Friday at his home, 8608 N. 30th Dr., will be tomorrow in Memory Chapel, A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary, 333 W. Adams. The Rev. Everett Crimmings will officiate. Cremation will follow. Mr. Ragland, a real estate and insurance broker, came to Phoenix 13 years ago from Long Beach, California. He was born in Perry County, Illinois. He is survived by his wife, Bess; a son, Wilbur, Pinckneyville, Illinois; a daughter, Romona Ragland, of Illinois; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Krone, Tamaroa, Illinois; and Mrs. Bertha Merkle, Wiley, Colorado; and a brother, George Tamaros. 31 January 1960

RAGSDALE, Cecil M.

Cecil M. Ragsdale, 47, a native of Texas, moved to Phoenix in 1936. Wife, Evelyn O.; son, Cecil W. of Fort Sill, Oklahoma; daughters, Mrs. Clarence Buckmaster and Peggy Diane Ragsdale, both of Phoenix; mother, Mrs. Bessie Ragsdale of Dallas, Texas; three brothers and two sisters, all out of state. RAMIREZ, Jack R.

Jack R. Ramirez, 25, born in Chandler; survived by mother, Mrs. Dora Ramirez of Phoenix; sisters, Mrs. Antonio Rodriguez of Los Angeles and Carolina and Mary Ramirez, both of Phoenix; brothers, Walter of Los Angeles; Ernest, Willie, Frank and John, all of Phoenix. RAPIER, Cinton

Funeral services for Cinton Rapier, 83, who died in Gila General Hospital here, will be in Miles Mortuary in Miami. Mr. Rapier, born in Bellegreen, Arkansas, went to Safford in 1888, but spent most of his life in Globe. He freighted lumber by mule and horses from the Sierra Ancha Mountains during construction of Roosevelt Dam. He served in the merchant marine during World War I, and worked for the U. S. Forest Service in New Mexico and for the Arizona Highway Department. When he retired he was on maintenance work on the Globe-Young highway. He is survived by two brothers, Blueford, Claremont, California, and Wesley Rapier, Lakeside; and four sisters, Mrs. Nettie Wilson, Willcox; Mrs. Priscilla Lamb, Phoenix; Mrs. Etta Gibbony, Burbank, California; and Mrs. Lottie Wright, Lowell. 21 January 1960

RASCHERT, George H.

Yuma -- Funeral services for George Henry Raschert, 64, who died Monday, Jan. 18, 1960, in a Yuma hospital, were in the Yuma Mortuary. Born in Illinois, he had lived here the past 6 1/2 years. He retired after 30 years of service in the Army in August 1953 as a master sergeant. At that time he was stationed at the Yuma Test Station. He is survived by his wife, Magdalene; and a brother, two sisters, and two foster daughters, Mrs. Donald Mae Berger and Mrs. Emma Lou Smith, all of Peoria, Illinois. The AZ Republic 20 Jan. 1960.

REYNOLDS, George E.

Pima -- Funeral services for George Edgar Reynolds, 65, who died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1960, in Bayard, N. M., were in the Pima Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Caldwell Funeral Home in Safford was in charge of arrangements. Military graveside services were conducted at the Pima Cemetery. Mr. Reynolds, born in Pima, was a World War I veteran. He was a carpenter. He is survived by his wife, Sybil; three sons, Lavoy and Bruce, both of Pima, and Ross, Safford; a daughter, Mrs. Mina Lee, Pima; six sisters, Mrs. Mary Jones, Pima, Mrs. Hazel House, Globe, Mrs. Laura Rose, Miami, Mrs. Sadie Rose, and Mrs. Delia McCuen(?), both of Phoenix; and Mrs. Pearl Anderson, San Fernando, CA; a brother, Earl, Pima; and seven grandchildren. RHODES, James W. (Dusty)

Douglas -- Funeral services for James W. (Dusty) Rhodes, 71, who died in his home here Jan. 2, 1960, were in Brown-Page Chapel. Graveside services were conducted by members of the Elks Lodge in Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Rhodes was born in Topeka, Kansas, and was a railroader until his retirement in 1956. He became a conductor in 1911 for the Santa Fe and served with the El Paso and Southwestern and for the Southern Pacific railroads. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; two daughters, Mrs. Claude Lewis, California, and Mrs. Ralph Kimble, Douglas; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. The AZ Republic 5 January 1960

RICKARD, Alma

Mesa -- Funeral services for Mrs. Alma Rickard, 79, Mesa visitor, were held in Grand Island, Nebraska. Mrs. Rickard died Sunday, January 24, 1960, in Mesa Southside Hospital after a long illness. She was a native of Illinois. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Bernice Grosvenor, and one grandchild, both of Mesa. Melcher Mortuary of Mesa is in charge of arrangements. RIDDLE, Parley W.

Funeral services for Parley W. Riddle, 54, of 1137 E. Las Palmaritas, were in the Lundberg-Hansen Sunnyslope Chapel, 2 E. Dunlap. Bishop Reed Price of the 14th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officiated. The Sunnyslope Veterans of Foreign Wars conducted graveside services at Resthaven Park. Mr. Riddle, a native of Castlegate, Utah, died Friday, January 15, 1960, in Phoenix Veterans Administration Hospital. He served in the U. S. Air Force more than 18 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary, and a brother, Stanley, of Sparks, Nevada. The VFW also held a servivce for Mr. Riddle at the mortuary. The AZ Republic January 17, 1960.

Chandler -- Funeral services for John B. Roberts, 51, were in the Beuler Mortuary. Burial in Mesa Cemetery. Mr. Roberts died Saturday, January 23, 1960, at his home here. Born in Hawk Run, Pennsylvania, he lived in Chandler the past 12 years. He was caretaker for the Presbyterian Church and a city employee. Survivors include his wife, Florence M., a son, John T. Roberts, and three daughters, Mrs. Charles R. Green, Mrs. E. D. Short, and Mrs. Michael D. Toth, and six grandchildren, all of Chandler; three brothers and a sister living out of state. ROBINSON, Robert, Sr. and Robert Robinson, Jr.

Funeral Services for Robert Robinson, Sr., were in Webber's Eastlake Mortuary, 1641 E. Jefferson. Services were held at the same time for his son, Robert Robinson, Jr., who died at the age of 5 days in a Phoenix hospital. The father died of a gunshot wound December 31, 1959. Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife, Flora, and two stepchildren, Barbara and Gene Carroll. The family resides at 1130 W. Hadley. Officiating at the services was Elder Felton King. Interment in Greenwood Memorial Park. AZ Republic 8 Jan 1960.

ROGERS, Cora O.

Funeral services will be in Cole and Maud Mortuary here for Mrs. Cora O. Rogers, 74, who died Thursday in Pinal General Hospital, Florence, after a long illness. Mrs. Rogers had lived in Arizona 23 years, the past 18 here. She was born in Flintville, Tennessee. Survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Grace Roberson, Coolidge; Mrs. Roxie Starns, Florence; and Mrs. Gertrude McCarty, Tulsa, Oklahoma; and three brothers, Tom, Bob and Jack, all of Coolidge. 31 January 1960.

ROGERS, John (Buck), Jr.

Flagstaff -- Funeral services for John (Buck) Rogers, Jr., 19, were in the new stake building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints here. Flagstaff Mortuary. Mr. Rogers and his twin brother, Joe Austin, were born in Flagstaff. He had spent all of his life at the Buck Rogers Trading Post near Cameron. He attended Flagstaff and Tuba City schools. He died Tuesday, January 5, 1960, after an accident at Cameron. Survivors besides his twin brother, Joe, are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Buck Rogers; two sisters, Mrs. Dick Wright and Mrs. Jack Seeley; and another brother, Stanley, all of the Flagstaff area; and his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Rogers, San Bernardino, Calif. ROMERO, Pedro Lopez

Safford -- Rosary for Pedro Lopez Romero, 75, who died Dec. 29, 1959, in the Safford Inn Hospital, will be recited at 8 p.m. today in the Caldwell Funeral Home here. Requiem mass will be sung tomorrow in Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Solomon. Burial will be in the San Jose Cemetery. Mr. Romero , both in Clifton, had lived the past 35 years in the Safford area. ROMERO, Ysidora O.

Tempe -- Rosary for Mrs. Ysidora O. Romero, 72, was at the family home on 48th Street north of Broadway. Requiem mass was in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial in Guadalupe Cemetery. Mrs. Romero died New Year's Day en route to a hospital. She was born in Mexico and came to the United States 34 years ago. Survivors include her husband, Reyes, and a daughter, Arcadia Romero, Tempe. ROSARIO, Francia

Services for Francia Rosario, 8-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Greg Rosario, 4646 S. 10th St., were in Bloom's South Phoenix Mortuary, 3800 S. Central. Miss Rosario died Friday, Jan. 15, 1960. Burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Other survivors include four sisters, Grace, Julie, Dorothy, and Jennie, all of Phoenix, The AZ Republic Jan. 17, 1960.

ROSENSTIEL, David J.

David J. Rosenstiel, 38, an official of Schenley Industries and son of the firm's president, died yesterday of a heart attack in his Tucson home. Mr. Rosenstiel, son of Lewis S. Rosenstiel, was regional advertising merchandising manager for Schenley. He was active in Tucson civic affairs, including the Tucson Medical Center. Mr. Rosenstiel moved to Tucson in 1949. His parents had been long-time Tucson visitors and Schenley's executive headquarters were moved here in the early 1940s. He is survived by his wife, the former Babette Lazarus, of Columbus, Ohio; four children, David, Robert, Nancy, and Billy; and a sister, Mrs. Sidney Frank, and his grandmother, Mrs. Florence Heller, both of New York City. Funeral services will be at Adair Funeral Home with Rabbi Albert Bilgray officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Cincinnati. 28 January 1960.

ROSELL, Henry V., 7 January 1960

Requiem high mass was sung in St. Anthony's Church, 900 S. First Ave., for Henry V. Rosell, 26, who died Saturday, January 2, 1960, en route to Good Samaritan Hospital. Burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Rosary was recited in the Whitney and Murphy Funeral Home. Mr. Rosell, born in Coahuila, Mexico, came to Phoenix 12 years ago. He was a partner in the Arizona Fence Co. and operated a Union Oil Co. service station at Roma and 7th Ave. He resided at 845 W. Mitchell Dr. He was a member of the Mexican Chamber of Commerce. Survivors, all of Phoenix, are his wife, Frances; three sons, George, Terry, and Michael; a daughter, Cynthia Louise; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jose R. Services for Roy Monroe Rosevear, 68, of 2112 W. GLenn Dr., who died in his home Wednesday, January 13, 1960, were in Memory Chapel of A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary. Dr. Fletcher H. Scharer officiated. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Park. Born in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania, Mr. Rosevear came here tow years ago after retiring from the U. S. Steel Corp. in Clairton, PA. He is survived by a son, Robert G., Phoenix; two sisters, Mrs. Edward Gray and Mrs. Robert Stevick, both of McKeesport, PA.; and two grandchildren. The AZ Republic Jan. 15, 1960.

ROSS, James William

Funeral services for James William Ross, 27, who was killed Tuesday in an industrial accident, will be tomorrow. The Rev. Hugh Lind will officiate in the Chandler First Baptist Church. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery. Mr. ROSS lived at 298 W. Elgin in Chandler. He had been employed the past year by a dairy. Previous to that, he was employed for nine years by Bogle Farms, Chandler. ROSS, John Frederick

Funeral services for John Frederick Ross, 60, Arizona Title Guarantee and Trust Co. officer who died Jan. 10, 1960, in St. Joseph's Hospital, were in Memory Chapel, A. L. Moore & Sons Mortuary. The Masonic funeral committee officiated. Burial in St. Louis. Mr. Ross came to Phoenix in 1937 from St. Louis. He had been associated with the Phoenix title company 23 years and at his death was senior vice president and a title officer of the firm. He was a veteran of World War I, a 32nd degree Mason, member of the Mount Moriah Lodge, St. Louis, and of the York Rite and El Zaribah Shrine in Phoenix. Surviving are his wife, Melba E. and two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Ebeler and Mrs. Alvera Horst, both of St. Louis. The AZ Republic 12 Jan 1960.

ROUNDS, Clara B.

Mesa -- funeral services for Dr. Clara Belle Rounds, 82, were in the Garden Chapel of M. L. Gibbons Mortuary. The Rev. Elbert S. Morford officiated. Burial in Mesa Cemetery. Dr. Rounds died Jan. 9, 1960, in Mesa Southside District Hospital after a short illness. She was born in Oswego, N. Y. Her family moved to Sioux City, Iowa, and later she moved to Chicago where she graduated from the Chicago Medical College in 1904. She practiced medicine in Chicago until her retirement. She moved to Mesa 13 years ago. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Mesa and of the Order of Eastern Star of La Grange, ILlinois. She is survived by her husband, Howard A., who until his retirement was a handwriting expert with the U. S. Secret Service for many years; a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle MacPherson of Marango, Iowa; two sons, Daniel H. of Mesa and Clarence A. of Roswell, N. M.; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Prescott -- Funeral services for William P. Rowe, 60, who died in the Veterans Administration Hospital here Sunday, January 3, 1960, will be in Lansing, Michigan. Mr. Rowe, born in Newberry, Michigan, had been a resident of Prescott nine years. A retired U. S. Army master sergeant with 30 years' service, he was a veteran of World War II.
