Robert Edward "Bob" Kelley, 72, passed away at
his home in Midlothian, Virginia, on Saturday, January 13, 2018.
Robert was born November
28, 1945, in Roanoke, Virginia. He was a 1964 graduate of Patrick Henry
High School. He and his late wife, Carol Anne “Susie” Hinchee, were married
August 7, 1965, at Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church in Roanoke.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1966, and
served four years active duty and two years reserve. While stationed at
Davis Monthan AFB, Tucson, Arizona, their son, Brian C. Kelley was born in
1969. When his service was completed, he moved his family back to Roanoke,
eventually moving to Midlothian, Virginia. He was a sales manager and
worked for several computer companies over the years: Data General
Corporation, Sun Microsystems, Spectrum Data Systems, and Kronos
Corporation. Robert had several avid interests: Civil War history and
ancestry; trap & skeet shooting; golf; salt water tropical fish, and
photography. He was an NRA instructor in rifle, handgun, and shotgun, one
of the founders of the Roanoke Valley Four Wheel Drive Association, and
Virginia State Representative for Sporting Clays. Several times a year,
declaring he had to get his “mountain fix,” he took pleasure in spending a
few days at the Kelley cabin in Floyd County. He will be remembered as a
loving, caring soul with a larger-than-life personality who enjoyed telling
jokes and making people laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ausborne Paul Kelley and
Marguerite Heckman Kelley. His wife of 52 years, Carol Anne “Susie”
Hinchee, died October 25, 2017. Survivors include his son, Brian C Kelley,
Midlothian; his brother, Richard Kelley, and sister, Paula Kelley Ward and
her husband, John, all of Roanoke, Virginia; a sister, Peggy Kelley; a
niece, Erin Ward Byers, White Plains, New York; a nephew, Sean Ward, San

Mistele Obituary (2011) - Legacy Remembers
Merrily Louise (Lowry) Mistele passed from death into
eternal life on December 1, 2020. She was born on July 12, 1924, to Fred
and Verna (Black) Lowry in Oklahoma City, Okla. She was preceded in death
by her first husband, Marvin Woodcock; her second husband, Robert Mistele;
her sister, Frances (Lowry) Winfrey and son-in-law, Michael Touscany.
She is survived by her brother, Fred J. Lowry (Elnora); her children,
Britton Mistele (Jean), Suzanne Touscany, Nan Sierra (David), and Sarah
Bechler (Paul). 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great
great-grandchild.
Merrily graduated high school early and became a legal secretary for
attorney Herman Mercer. She then married her high school sweetheart Marvin
Woodcock who served in the United States Air Force during World War II and
shot down and died in the Italian Alps. She then met Bob Mistele at church and they were married November 2, 1946. Merrily
was the wife of baseball player, coach and teacher. Along with raising
their four children, she used her talents of sewing to good use both for
the children and her home. As the children grew and left home she spent
hours painting, French heirloom sewing, smocking, rug hooking and wool
appliqué. Selling many of her "wares" along the way.
Merrily was also very active in church both in the choir and Pioneer Girls.
A favorite was her annual solo of "Sweet Little Jesus Boy" at the
Christmas Eve service. She was a member of the Wooley Sheep Rug hooking
group in Roanoke and was dearly loved by all who knew her.
Merrily's relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ was evident in every
aspect of her life. Many times sharing with others of God's faithfulness
all through her life. One of her favorite verses she often shared with her
grandchildren was 2 Timothy 2:15.
She will be greatly missed but her family that remains eagerly awaits their
reunion with her in heaven!!!
The family will be having a private graveside service at a later date.

Michael
Robert Touscany, 63, of Floyd, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013.
"Mike" was born 63 years ago in Detroit, Mich. He grew up in a
loving home, and enjoyed playing little league sports, Tigers baseball
games, red wings hockey games, and fast cars. He played in several bands in
the mid 1960s. He met his wife, Sue Mistele Touscany, when they were
seniors in high school. They married, and went to work in his father's
store, The Goodhousekeeping Shop, in Detroit.
In 1982, they
moved with their two daughters to Greensboro, N.C. where
he took a position with Circuit City. In 1995, they moved to Floyd, and
Mike transferred to the Circuit City in Roanoke. He was with Circuit City
for 22 ½ years. In 2004, he became the night store manager at Lowe's on
220. In 2007, he became General Manager at Shoe Carnival until he retired
in June, 2012.
Mike was
diagnosed with cancer six months after he retired. He fought a courageous fight, and was the perfect patient. If you knew Mike, he
was a gentle, patient, funny, one-of-a kind guy. He will be greatly missed
and never forgotten.
Mike was a Christian, and knew he would one day be with his Savior.
God's love and peace sustained him throughout his life and his death.
Left to cherish
his memory are his wife, Suzanne Mistele Touscany; daughters, Melinda
Touscany Carr and husband, Brian, Nan Touscany Lamay and husband, Wayne;
awesome grandsons, Grayson Carr and Payton Carr; sister, Sally Wilson;
sisters-in-law, Jean Mistele, Nan Sierra, Sarah Bechler, Connie Snider,
brothers-in-law, Britt Mistele, Ricke Snider, Paul Bechler, David Sierra;
beloved nieces and nephews; and his precious mother-in-law, Louise Mistele.
He also leaves behind his faithful dog, Rico; and lifelong friends, Jim
Holloway, Mike Daly, and Carol Szalega.
Special thanks
and gratitude to Good Samaritan Hospice: April, Pam, Lydia, Heather, and
Darlene. We could not have done without you. Special thanks to Joe Womack,
C.W. Turner, and hairdresser, Ashley.
Funeral
services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at
Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Joe Womack officiating.
Interment will follow at the Vest Cemetery. The family will receive friends
one hour prior to the funeral service at Gardner Funeral Home. There will
be no night visitation at the funeral home.
Condolences to
the family may be made at www.gardnerfuneralhomefloyd.com.
