ABBOTT, Silas E.

Silas E. Abbott, 55, who came to the Valley 41 years ago, died Oct. 25, 1979, of a heart attack at the South Phoenix Ambulatory and Emergency Center. He was pastor of Abiding Word Church in South Phoenix. Mr. Abbott attended Glendale High School and was a carpenter 19 years with the J.A. Wood Co. until retiring two years ago. Survivors include his wife, Notra B.; children, Judy Davis, Richard Lee and Terry Lynn; mother, Annie Abbott; five grandchildren; two sisters and three brothers. 28 Oct 1979

ADAIR, Dallas T.

21 Nov 1910 - 27 Oct 1979
Mesa -- Dallas T. Adair, 68, who worked in the preventive maintenance department at Williams Air Force Base until he retired, died Oct. 27, 1979, in Mesa Lutheran Hospital. Mr. Adair lived in the Mesa (line cut off) ... in Arizona most of his life. He served with the Sea Bees construction batallion in World War II. Survivors include his wife, Laura; children, Daline Maddern, LuAnne Brummond, Donna Prosser, Wana Stevens, Owen and Michael; and two brothers, Thomas and Charles. Services were at Meldrum Mortuary Chapel, 52 N. MacDonald St. Interment Mesa City Cemetery. Published in The Arizona Republic Monday, October 29, 1979.

ADAMS, Herbert J.

Sun City -- Rosary for Herbert J. Adams, 71, was at Menke Funeral Home. Mass was at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church. Mr. Adams, a former logger in Stephenson, Michigan, came here in 1975 from Penbine, Wisconsin. He was a member of Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, Ethel; daughters, Carol J. Rice and Gwendolyn; a sister; three brothers and a grandson. The AZ Republic 22 Oct 1979, p. C4.

ADAMS, Ernestine M.

Services for Ernestine M. Adams, 71, of 4648 E. Hubbell, who died Oct. 5, 1979, in Hillhaven Nursing Home, will be 1 p.m. Monday in Chapel in the Garden, Mercer Mortuary, 1541 E. Thomas. She came to Arizona 22 years ago from Olem, N. Y., and is survived by her husband, Frank; children, Mazie Ley (?), Thomas and Edd; eight grandchildren and seven great-granchildren. AKER, Terry L. T.

3 July 1955 - 2 Nov. 1979
Terry Lee T. Aker, 24, who lived in Phoenix until she moved to Kaufman, Texas, three months ago, died Nov. 2, 1979, in Kaufman. She was killed in an accident at an acoustic ceiling manufacturing company where she worked. Her father, Jesse Traughber, lives on West Buist Ave. Other survivors include her daughter, Tillie Jo; mother, Mrs. Reesie Monroe; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Reece Grimes and Mr. and Mrs. Delman Cook; two sisters and a brother Services will be in Kaufman. ALBINS, Ted

Services for Ted Albins, 52, who died Oct. 27, 1979, in Scottsdale Memorial Hospital from injuries suffered in an automobile accident, were at Grimshaw Bethany Chapel. Mr. Algins was a general manager of Hurricane Car Washes and a member of the 29th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a Korean War veteran and moved to Arizona 50 years ago from his native Texas. Surviving are his children, Alysia, Tammy, Douglas and Gregory; a brother, Phil; and three grandchildren. Interment Albins Cemetery. The AZ Republic Oct. 29, 1979.

ALLEN, Lyle R.

2 August 1912 - 30 Sept 1979
Mesa -- Lyle R. Allen, 67, a World War II veteran who was owner-operator of a television shop in Mesa 16 years and was a member of American Legion Post 26, died Sept. 30, 1979, in Tucson Veterans Hospital. Mr. Allen lived in Arizona since 1961 and is survived by a sister and two brothers. Larry J. Melcher Mortuary. Services were in Illinois. 2 Oct 1979

ALLEN, Saul S.

Peoria -- Saul S. Allen, 69, who came to Arizona in 1929 and owned United TV & Appliances of Phoenix until retiring in 1971, died Oct. 14, 1979, in Boswell Hospital. Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Frances; children, Judith Ann Burley and William; a brother; and three grandchildren. Services in Lundberg Chapel. The AZ Republic 17 Oct 1979.

ALLWINE, Pearl

Pearl Allwine, 85, of 2328 E. Beverly Lane, a retired licensed practical nurse, died Oct. 4, 1979, in Renton, Washington. She moved to Phoenix in 1924 and had worked as a sales clerk and beautician. Survivors include her children, Mary F. Lippert, Josephine Tice, Robert and Hobert; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
