HALE, Henry Fletcher

Services for Henry Fletcher Hale, 90, who came here 53 years ago and was a City of Phoenix bus driver 26 years until 1953, will be Friday in Sunset Chapel, 310 W. Camelback. Mr. Hale, 4720 N. 23rd Ave., died Oct. 2, 1979, in Phoenix Baptist Hospital. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Methodist Church and Woodmen of the World. Hannah, 74, who retired in 1970 as an electrician after 10 years with Maricopa County Hospital, were in Memory Lawn Mortuary, 719 N. 27th Ave. Mr. Hannah died Oct. 17, 1979, in his home. He came here in 1946 from Kenosha, Wisconsin. He had worked as a butcher, painter, sang with barber shop quartets and worked with the Senior Citizens at the Washington Adult Center. Mrs. Hatch, 511 E. Third Ave., had been a genealogist and her quilts had won prizes at Arizona State Fairs. Thatcher -- Mary M. Holgerson, 65, died Oct. 3, 1979, at the Cochise County Hospital in Douglas. Mrs. Holgerson moved to Arizona in 1937 and lived in Tucson, Naco, Nogales and Globe before moving to Thatcher four years ago. She was the postmaster in Naco three years and later ran the Naco Mercantile store. George Earl Hollingsworth, 61, an FBI agent in Phoenix from 1950 until taking a medical retirement in 1961, died Oct. 17, 1979, in his home at Hudson, FL. Mr. Hollingsowrht joined the bureau for 21 years after serving as a Navy fighter pilot in the Pacific in World War II where he attained the rank of lieutenant commander. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and Elks Lodge in Phoenix unil moving in 1970 to Cardiff By The Sea, CA. Survivors include his children, Karen O'Neil, Stephanie Tarbox, Pam, Debbie, Gretchen and George, Jr.; a sister and two grandchildren. Services were in Encinitas, CA. 26 Oct 1979

HOLT, Francis Lyman

Graveside services for Francis Lyman Holt, 62, who died Sept. 30, 1979, in the Tucson St. Mary's Hospital burn unit, will be 2 p.m. Friday in Mesa City Cemetery, 1212 N. Center. Mr. Holt attended schools in his native Mesa. He lived in the Tucson area the past 35 years and was an ironworker. He was building a hay feeder when he cut into an oil barrel and it exploded August 20, 1979, at his home in Cortaro, north of Tucson. He suffered severe burns and a broken leg. Survivors include his children, Carolyn, Annette, Patty, Bill, Charlie and David; six sisters and six brothers. Services were in Brings Mortuary at Tucson. Holzer, 82, was in Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th St. Mas in St. Joseph Church, 1101 N. 40th St. Mrs. Holzer lived in Phoenix 28 years before moving to Apple Valley, California, a year ago where she died Oct. 28, 1979. The Rev. Robert A. Hoppe, 57, pastor of Covenant United Presbyterian Church and a consultant for the United Presbyterian General Mission Council, died Oct. 11, 1979. Mr. Hoppe had previously served as director of Project Equality, the Commission on Religion and Race in Detroit, the commission on Evangelism and Social Witness in Ohio and as a consultant to the National Council of Churches. He also had been pastor of Sunnyslope United Presbyterian Church and an associate director of UPGMC before coming to Phoenix in 1977. He graduated from Miami University in his native Ohio and United Theological Seminary. Survivors include his wife, Ellie; children, Bonnie Stearns, Heather Newman, John P., Ronald, and David B.; a sister and a brother. Oct. 13, 1979.
