Glendale -- James R. Kane, Sr., 52, died Wed., June 12, 1974, in Valley View Hospital. He had been a clerk for the U.S.Postal Service 25 years in Phoenix. His Marine Corps service in World War II included the assaults of Bougainville and Guam. Wife, Annette; sons, John and James; his mother, Mrs. Lena Kane and a brother and two sisters. KARE, Fred

Fred Kare, 82, a restaurant and bar owner 56 years, who was credited with helping Marty Robbins at the beginning of his country-western singing career in Phoenix, died Tuesday, June 25, 1974, in John C. Lincoln Hospital. Mr. Kare, of 7018 N.33rd Ave., had owned and operated Fred Kare's Cocktail Lounge from 1947 to 1955 at 4806 E. Van Buren. Lamina Bar in Superior until 1957, Sarge's Cow Town until 1962 and Manzanita Grill & Bar until 1968. Born in Greece, he came here in 1946 from Chicago. He was a member of Moose Lodge 708 and Elks Lodge 335. Survivors include his wife, Sylvia; and nephews, Theodorus and Nickolaos Karavitis. Trisagion prayer services were in Grimshaw Bethany Chapel, 710 W. Bethany Home. Memorial services in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1973 E. Maryland. Burial in St. Francis Cemetery. KAVANAUGH, Joseph Francis, Jr.

Tempe -- Joseph Francis Kavanaugh, Jr., 53, a bartender, died Sat., July 6, 1974, in Desert Samaritan Hospital, Mesa. He was an Army veteran of World War II who earned two bronze stars. Wife, Helen; daughters, Patricia and Nancy; mother, Mrs. Irene Kavanaugh. Rosary was in Gibbons-Bunker Tempe Chapel. Burial in San Francisco. 7/7/1974.

KEEN, Arch J.

Arch J. Keen, 79, who came here in 1926 and started the first restaurant in Sunnyslope, the Arch Keen Buffet, also the first trailer court in this area, died Tuesday, June 11, 1974, in his home, 9634 N. Third Drive. Mr. Keen was the postmaster at Cactus from 1936 to 1938 and had owned The Camera Shop in Phoenix from 1946 to 1964. Services were in Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th St. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mabel; daughters, Mrs. Ronald Lenocker and Mrs. Bobby Few; and four grandchildren. KELLEHER, Irene E.

Irene E. Kelleher, 67, died Tuesday, July 16, 1974 in Good Samaritan Hospital. She came here from Denver in 1941 and had been a member of the Phoenix Center for the Blind Auxiliary. She was a secretary who worked eight years at the Church of St. Louis the King and also for the Electrical Contractors Association. Memorial services for Evonne Kelley, 41, were at All Saints Episcopal Church, 6300 N. Central. Burial in her native Langdon, N.D. Chapel of the Chimes handled arrangements. Laveen -- Matilda J. Kelly, 62, who had lived all her life on the Gila Indian Reservation, died Friday, June 7, 1974, in Phoenix Indian Medical Center. Children, Alice Polacca, Cecelia Arriaga, Geraldine Goodwin, Jennie Narcia, Lina Ray, Eugene Cassa and Philbert Cassa; step-sons, Anthony and Wilbur Kelly; 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. KELSEY, Patrick T.

Services for Patrick T. Kelsey, 64, were in Paradise Chapel, 3934 E. Indian School. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Kelsey of 4902 N. 42nd Place died Monday in Doctors Hospital. He had been a deputy claims director fo the Arizona Insurance Department the past three years. KENT, Eva Helen

Yarnell -- Mrs. Eva Helen Kent, 67, a graduate of Oakland City College in Indiana, died Friday, June 21, 1974, in her home. She was retired from the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department. Before joining the City of Phoenix, she worked in the public health departments of New York, California, and Arizona. She was author of numerous books and retired to Yarnell in 1972 to write a book on the history and philosophy of aging problems. She is survived by her uncle, Ralph Kent, and cousins in Hemet California. Cremation. 6/25/1974.

Mesa -- Services and burial for Mrs. Elizabeth Kerin, 66, who died Saturday, February 9, 1974, in Mesa Lutheran Hospital, were in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Mrs. Kerin, 2422 Ashton Place, was a native of Mount Pleasant and came to Mesa three years ago. Survivors include her husband, William H.; a son, William III of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. Diane Dobs of Denver and Mrs. Nancy Fitzpatrich of East Lansing, Mich.; a sister out of state and seven grandchildren. Glendale -- William W. Kerstetter, 60, died Thursday, June 27, 1974, in John C. Lincoln Hospital. He had been a machinist for the F & B Manufacturing Co. KETTERING, Charles B.

Charles B. Kettering, 75, died Saturday, June 29, 1974, in Phoenix Medicenter of America. Mr. Kettering retired in 1966 as head of the metallurgy division of Inspiration Consolidated Copper Co. He was a native of Lockport, Illinois, and moved to Ajo in 1917 after completing his education in Long Beach, CA. He went to work for the New Cornelia Copper Co. of the Phelps Dodge Corp. as a hydro-metallurgist. In 1926, he moved to Inspiration at the opening of the leaching plant of Inspiration Copper Co. Wife, Ardath; a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Dunsmore, and three grandchildren. Burial in Greenwood Memorial Park. 6/30/1974.

Mesa -- Joseph R. Kidd, 50, his wife, Ruth H. Kidd, 49, and their son, Terrence A. Kidd, 16, were killed Sunday, June 30, 1974, in an 18-vehicle accident near El Reno, Oklahoma. Mr. Kidd was a branch manager of Household Finance, a scoutmaster of Troop 451, and a Navy veteran of World War II. His survivors include children, Richard, Raymond, Kenneth and Christine Kidd; his parents, Peter and Edith Kidd; brothers, Harold, Donald and THomas.
Mrs. Kidd had been a policy processor the past two years for State Farm Insurance Co. in Tempe. Survivors in addition to her children include her mother, Mrs. Bertha Kattenhorn; and a sister.

Sun City -- Mrs. Mabel M. Krogstad, 70, who was a department store buyer in St. Paul, Minnesota, 18 years, died Friday, February 8, 1974, in Boswell Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Krogstad, 10241 Clair Drive, came to Arizona in 1966 from her native St. Paul. She was a member of St. Joachim Catholic Church, 11625 N. 111th Ave. Survivors include her husband, Ralph; one daughter, Mrs. Elaine Wennersten of Phoenix; two brothers and one sister out of state; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
