KINGREA, Charles Leo, PhD, 76, a special husband, father and granddad of Baton Rouge, LA, formerly of Narrows, died Saturday, February 19, 2000 in the Our Lady of the Lake Region Medical Center, Baton Rouge, LA. Dr. Kingrea was born in Barrens Springs, Va. on August 17, 1923 and was the son of the late Shirley Leonard and Lena Rose Williams Kingrea. He was a graduate of Narrows High School, Class of 1939 and the Greenbrier Military School in Lewisburg, W.Va. He receive his Bachelors, Masters and PhD from Virginia
Tech in Chemical Engineering and later obtained his MBA from the University of Houston in Houston, Texas. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U. S. Army and retired from the U. S. Army Reserve as a Colonel. He was employed by the Ethyl Corporation for 34 years, where he worked in Baton Rouge, LA and Houston, TX. Prior to his retirement in 1946, while stationed in Dallas, Texas, he married the love of his life, Margaret McCreary and they have celebrated their life together for almost 54 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Richard Owen Kingrea and his wife, Debby and their children, Rock, Eric and Taylor of Fairhope, Ala., David Leonard Kingrea and his wife, Bonna and their children, Leigh, Craig and Tommy Calicchio of Boyce, LA., Kay Kingrea Barnhill and her husband, Jim and their three children, Maggie, Colleen and Jamie of Little Rock, Ark., all who will miss their loving and generous granddad.

The family will gather with their friends at Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. February 23, 2000 in Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg, with the Rev. Wayne Monroe officiating. The family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to me First United Methodist Church, Narrows, Va., 24124. Pallbearers will be grandsons and Eric and Matthew Mullins. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Mullins, L. Bane Coburn, Benny Hale, Allen McClaugherty, Joe Muncy, W. G. Simmons, Bob Williams, Clarence Clevenger and Harry V. Witt.

Stella Blevins, “Beloved Mrs. B” age 86, a resident of Oliver Springs, Tn, passed away, Saturday, June 20, 2015, at her home.

Mrs. Blevins was born on February 3, 1929, in McComas, West Virginia. She has lived in this area for the past 9 years having lived most of her life in California.

Stella was a retired Pre-School Teacher, Sunday School Teacher, and a lifetime member of the International Missionary Church in Reseda, Ca.

Mrs. “B” was an avid reader, loved her gospel music, Gaither videos and her dogs. Her special soul and a nurturing spirit will now light the heavens.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Eldridge Kingrea and Lucy Conner Kingrea; by her husband, Ralph W. Blevins; by one son, Michael R. Blevins; by one brother, Ronnie Kingrea, and by two sisters: Eva Ramsey and Dana Kingrea.

Mrs. Blevins is survived by three children: Lea Ramsey and husband, Jack of Oliver Springs, Roger A. Blevins and wife, Rita of Pozzallo, Italy, and Peter R. Blevins of Oak Ridge; by grandchildren: Jeffery Blevins, Evelyne Blevins, and Katie Chinchak; by great-grandchildren: Erica Blevins, Josh Chinchak, and Dylan Chinchak and one great-great-grandchild, Hannah.

She is also survived by a brother John Kingrea and wife Norma, of Princeton, WV; by sisters-in-law, June Taylor of Las Vegas, NV, Shizu Work of Simi Valley, CA, and Bessie Kingrea of Beaver, OH. Also several nieces, nephews, and a host of special friends, relatives and loved ones are left to mourn her passing. Special mention is also made of her caretaker, Louise Laurence.

Burial and graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at Anderson Memorial Gardens with the Rev. John Wiseman officiating. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements

Elmer was a Veteran of World War II and was retired from the Veterans Hospital. The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for their care of Elmer. Walter Howard Kingrea, 79, formerly of Pilot, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 10, 2013. Born in Christiansburg on July 21, 1934, he lived most of his life near and around the Roanoke area, and later moved to Tennessee to be closer to his children. He was the son of the late Hosea and Alma Kingrea. He was preceded in death by half-brothers, Earl Kingrea, Mallie Kingrea, June Kingrea, and Lewis Anderson; and half- sisters, Freida Hungate, Louise Hamblin, Claudy Eanes, Lela Craft, and Beulah Kurley. 
He graduated from Check High School in Floyd County, Virginia, served in the United States Air Force in Japan as an air traffic controller and later worked as a skilled iron worker and craftsman for All-Steel Fabricators, where he helped design and build the hand and guard railing at the Salem Memorial Stadium. He enjoyed watching Virginia Tech football and listening to country and bluegrass music.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013, in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, Christiansburg with the Rev. Kenneth Kingrea officiating. Interment will follow at Huffville Cemetery, Floyd. The family will receive friends on Saturday November 16, 2013, from noon until 2 p.m. Arrangements by Horne Funeral Service.

Ila James Kingrea Parsons, 93, of Roanoke, went to be with our Lord, Monday, September 18, 2017.

She was predeceased by her parents, Hobart Arold Kingrea and Nellie Francis Pugh; husband of 67 years, James Robert Parsons, Sr.; and two grandchildren, Lindsey and Geoffrey Bayne.

Ila was a long time member of Raleigh Court United Methodist Church. She also made many friendships during her 60 year sewing circle group. Ila was an avid gardener and doll collector.

Left to cherish Ila’s memory are her three children: Sandra Bayne and James Parsons, Jr. of Roanoke, VA, and Frances Workman (David) of Whitsett, NC. Her grandchildren; Christa Davis Acampora (Ralph) of Pelham, NY and Karen Davis League (Britt IV) of Chesapeake, VA. She is also survived by two step-grandchildren: Shawn Workman (Christine) and their children, Keirsten, Kaedun, Ian and Eli, of Burlington, NC and Cristina Workman (Lauren) and their child, Bryce, of Smyrna, GA. And a niece, Mary Bishop Zimmerman of Blacksburg, VA.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Raleigh Court United Methodist Church with Rev. Seungsoo Jun and Rev. Roy Miller officiating.
