THE HENRY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Tue., Feb. 23, 1932, p. 3, col. 2 [edited]. Mrs. Demerit Austin, wife of Jim Austin of Fieldale, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17 at Staunton. Mrs. Austin had been in declining health for several years. Funeral services were conducted from her home at Fieldale Friday evening, and interment was made in Oakwood Cemetery. The deceased is survived by her husband and the following children: Eldridge, Lonza, Arlene and Claude, Miss Ollie Austin and Mrs. Jesse Stegall, all of Fieldale, and a number of other relatives.

THE HENRY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Tue., March 1, 1932, p. 5, col. 7 The funeral of Mrs. Demerice Austin, who passed away Wednesday, February 17th, was held Friday afternoon at the home of her son-in-law, J. B. Stegall, at Fieldale. Interment was made in Oakwood Cemetery. The deceased is survived by her husband, James R. Austin, and the following children: Mrs. J. B. Stegall, Alonzo, Eldridge, Orlean, Claude and Oliver Austin. The pall bearers were James Stegall, Alfred Stegall, Terrell Fulcher, Allen Ingram, Brice Stultz and Kernell Kasey.

THE HENRY BULLETIN, Fri., Nov. 16, 1934, p. 1, col. 3 [edited, see also Nov. 19th, p. 4, col. 5]. Final rites for Jesse Ben Stegall, 51, highly esteemed Henry County citizen, popular deputy sheriff and resident of Fieldale who passed away at his home Wednesday night, were held from the late residence this afternoon. Members of Patrick Henry Lodge Knights of Pythias and the I.O.O.F. of Fieldale lodge assisted in the services. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery here. Surviving is his wife who prior to her marriage was Miss Roxie Lee Austin of Narrows; five children: Mrs. Gertrude M. Fulcher, Misses Mary Grace and Ruth Stegall and Messrs Posey and J. B. Steagall Jr., all of Fieldale; four brothers, Charles H., George E., Watt H. and J. A. Stegall and four sisters, Mesdames T. M. Hundley, R. D. Hundley, J. A. Ingles and J. D.
