Quilt of Valor Presentation

Presented to Vietnam Veteran, Jack Cornett, by the youth of Collegeport and the El Maton 4-H

Hi, Mr. Cornett,

I’m really honored to be here with you today – and even more honored to be one of the many to present you with this Quilt of Valor.

This quilt is more than just a gift – it’s a heartfelt “thank you.” It represents appreciation for your service, your sacrifice, and your strength. It was made with care, compassion, and deep respect for what you’ve given to this country. Every thread, every stitch carries the message. You are appreciated. You are respected. You are not forgotten.

This quilt is a symbol of comfort, but it’s also a symbol of recognition. You’ve stood up and served when you were needed, and that kind of courage deserves to be seen and honored. This isn’t just about acknowledging your military service – its about honoring you – Jack Cornett – the person who gave time, energy and heart in service to others.

We often hear people say “thank you for your service,” and while those words are always sincere, they can sometimes feel too small for what they’re trying to express. That’s where the Quilt of Valor comes in. It’s a way of saying thank you that you can feel – something you can literally wrap around you, a reminder that your service matters to so many people, including those who may never get the chance to say it in person.

I hope that whenever you look at this quilt or use it, you feel a sense of pride. I hope it reminds you that what you’ve done is meaningful – and that you’ve made an impact. And I hope it brings a little comfort and warmth, in the same way your service has brought protection and strength to others.

So today, from the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of the youth of Collegeport and the El Maton 4-H Club, I want to thank you – not just for your service, but for the person you are. It’s a real privilege to know you, and to be able to present this to you today.

Thank you, Mr. Cornett, Adyson Merck
