FRENCH-INDIAN WAR VETERANS

Researched, written and contributed by: Homer Musselman

The French Indian Wars broke out in 1754. Staffordians responded to the call and sent men to the frontier to fight the French and the Indians. In a letter to Governor Dinwiddie, Captain William Fitzhugh stated that 109 men, exclusive of officers, had marched from Stafford to Winchester. The war ended with the Peace of Paris in 1763.
