Harris (Joyce), of Greensboro, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Harris, of
Christiansburg; grandsons, Edward Van Lear II, of Christiansburg, Mark
Van Lear, of Louisa, Eric Harris, of Christiansburg, Jason Harris, of San
Francisco, Calif., Justin Harris (Amy), of Richmond, Jonathan Cromer
(Anita), of Roanoke, Matthew Phillips (Amy), of Arnold, Md.;
granddaughters, Amy Harris, of Roanoke, Nicole Lloyd (Sam), of
Christiansburg, Amanda Leddy (Harvey), of Eden, N.C.;
great-grandchildren, Megan Cromer, Jacob Cromer, Will Lloyd, Rachel

special caregiver, Marjorie Lucas. She was predeceased by, sisters, Avis
Goad, Ethelyne Hanky, Mabel Gallimore; and a
brother, Richard Cox. Gertrude enjoyed reading, gardening, quilting,
sewing and needlework, however her greatest love was her family
especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She worked at Floyd
Garment Company and retired from Poly-Scientific in 1984. Funeral
services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Gardner
Funeral Home with the Rev. Nathan Phillips officiating. Interment will
follow at Indian Creek Church Cemetery. Friends may call after 1 p.m. on
Tuesday at Gardner Funeral Home, where the family will be from 6 to 8
p.m. Flowers will be appreciated but donations may be made to the
American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, Va.

He was a lifelong member of the Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church in
Indian Valley, VA. He retired from Ingersoll Rand in Roanoke, where he was
employed for 27 years.
He is preceded in death by his mother & father, Treva & Lewis
Henley.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Phyllis Jane Henley; sons &
daughters-in-law, David & Terri Henley and Jonathan & Anne Henley;
step-son, Keith Parks; step-daughters & step-son-in-law, Robin &
Rex Allen and Renee Farmer; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren;
13 step great-grandchildren; brother & sister-in-law, Donald &
Joyce Henley; sister & brother-in-law, Anna May & Carmen Roop;
sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Linda & Ernie Harris and Mary Boseley; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 in
the Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Pastor Drew Hunsley and Elder Tim Witten officiating. Interment
will follow in the Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at her home in Radford. She
was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lewis Henley; her parents,
Simon and Roena Smith Harris; stepmother, Maranda
Slusher Harris; four brothers; and three sisters.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Larry and Jane
Henley of Roanoke, Donald Edward and Joyce Henley of Childress; one
daughter and son-in-law, Anna May and Carmon Roop of Radford. She is also
survived by six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three step
grandchildren, seven step greatgrandchildren and three step
great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Louise Lyle of Radford; and a
multitude of nieces and nephews, and a very special niece, Verlie Slusher.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to the Carilion Clinic
Hospice Team for providing such wonderful care. A very special thank you to
Sherry Reed and Karen King for your kindness and special care that was
given, not only to our mother but to the family as well. God places people
in our lives for a reason.

Louise was a well-known locally recognized quilter. She loved politics and

happenings until the end.

Joseph & Amy Lyle; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild;
and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marshall Phillips Slusher, 85, of Christiansburg, passed away Thursday,
February 28, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wyatt and Ocie
Marshall; two husbands, Berlie Phillips and Ferd Slusher; an infant
daughter; and brother, Kirby Marshall.
She is survived by a special niece, JoAnn Smith of Tucson, Ariz.; four
stepsons, Wayne Slusher of Mt. Vernon, Wash., Gary Slusher of Aberdeen,
Wash., Terry Slusher of Columbus, Ga., and Michael Slusher of New York; two
stepdaughters, Ann Peterson of Belton, Mo., and Michele Paterson of
Michigan; 10 step-grandchildren and 14 step great-grandchildren; nephew,
Carlie Marshall and his wife Sherry of Christiansburg; and many other
relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 11 a.m. at
Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Indian Valley with Elder
Tim Whitten officiating.

October 24, 2009 at Heritage Hall Health Care. She was born in Montgomery
County, Virginia on August 22, 1938. She was preceded in death by her
husbands, Jerry Wyatt Phillips and Marvin Larry Vaught, father, Clarence
William Price, Sr., brother, Floyd Price, and granddaughter, Jessica Hope
Vaught. She is survived by her daughter, Rena Richmond and fiancé, John
Carter, of Randleman, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Toni Vaught,
of Newport; mother, Evelyn Smith Price, of Blacksburg; two brothers and
sisters-in-law, Clarence William, Jr. and Shirley Price, of Blacksburg,
Jimmy and Betty Price, of Sylvatus, Va.; ten grandchildren, Dale Vaught,
Justin Vaught, Geoffrey Vaught, Dominic Bari, Mikey Price, Matthew Price,
Jennifer Radford, Jason Cragett, Serena Richmond, and Zachary Richmond;
five great-grandchildren, Zachary Leggett, Alexis Price, Olivia Vaught,
Jeffrey and Troy Radford. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday,
October 27, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.
Jimmie Lee Price officiating. Interment will follow in the Indian Creek
Cemetery, Indian Valley Road, Floyd. Friends may call any time after 12
noon and the family will receive friend from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening
October 26, 2009, at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg.
