Christiansburg, our loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, left July 5, 2008
to a great family reunion in Heaven with her son Jack, grandson, Daniel
Lee, the father of her children and first husband, Luther (Red) Lester, second
husband, Bill Thompson, mom, dad, and ten brothers and sisters. Waiting
to walk the golden streets with her are her children and their spouses,
Elsie Seabrook, Ronnie and Betty Lester, Carolyn Altizer, Betty Radar,
Jimmy and Judy Lester, Judy and Gary Roberts, Kitty and Bruce Harris. She
is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and
two loving companions, Rascal and Frosty. The family will receive friends
at The Horne Funeral Home, Sunday, July 6, 2008 from 4 to 6 p.m. The funeral
service will be held in The Horne Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, July 7,
2008 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Wallace Yopp and Pastor Leon Alley
officiating. Interment will follow in Huffville Cemetery, Floyd, County.

ACCIDENT CAUSES DEATH
At a result of injuries
received while coupling a threshing machine engine and separator, last
Friday afternoon, Ottis S. Lester, died at 4 o"clock last Saturday
morning.
He was backing the engine down hill, and in some way reaching for the lever
he missed it, letting the engine back on the separator, knocking the cab
and smokestack off from the engine, and pinioning him right in over the
smokestack where he received all the smoke and steam directly in the face.
His screams for
help were most pitiful, while those present were doing all in their power
to free him.
He directed them from the time just what to do and five men finally lifted
the separator which sunk 8 inches in the ground, and backed it up, thus
freeing him.
Dr. Barnhart
was immediately called and upon examination found his right arm broken and
his head, face and breast all burned to a crisp.
It seems doubly sad on account of his plans to return to his home in
Virginia in a few weeks, and only the past Sunday he had written a letter
to that effect.
The engine was
fired up for the first time this season so as to be ready to start to work
next Monday.
He was born in Christiansburg, Virginia and was very nearly 24 years of age.
He leaves a
father, one sister, two half sisters and two half brothers all of Virginia
and an uncle, Abe Lester and family of this place, to mourn his untimely
death.
