Roy E. Duncan, 64, died Sat­urday while fishing on Claytor Lake. He was a retired Lynchburg Foundry employee. Surviving are his wife, Mintha Gallimore Duncan; six daugh­ters, Mrs. Noah Bain, Mrs. Roy Lytton, Christiansburg, Mrs. Vance Rutherford, Mt. Airy, NC, Mrs. Cecil Lytton, Mrs. Leon Fizer, Mrs. Roger Wade, Radford; his mother, Mrs. W.C. Duncan, Radford; seven sisters, Mrs. David Lester, Mrs. Press Duncan, Miss Has­sie Duncan, Mrs. Frank Bain, Radford, Mrs. Eugene Morris, Mrs. Marvin Dickerson, Mrs. Paul Moore, Dublin; seven bro­thers, Hubert Duncan, Burman Duncan, Lincoln Duncan, Troy Duncan, Hobert Duncan, Rollie Duncan, William Duncan, Rad­ford; 14 grandchildren. The funeral was today at 2 p.m. at Bain's Chapel Pente­costal Holiness Churchildren with burial In Pentecostal Confer­ence Headquarters Cemetery, Dublin. The Rev. G.R. Tay­lor and the Rev. J.M. Jewell conducted the service. Active pallbearers were Ce­cil Lester, Landon Bishop, Ira Duncan, Carl Duncan, Robert Duncan and Burman Morris. Seaver-Sanders Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Russell Paul Duncan, 81, of Christiansburg, Va., went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, after a sudden illness.

He was born on January 10, 1929, in Floyd County, to the late Gilbert W. and Elva H. Duncan. Russell was a beloved husband, father, and brother, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Sarah T. Duncan; children, Larry Duncan and wife, Diane, Linda Whitworth and husband, Russell, David Duncan, Wayne Duncan and wife, Beth and Diane Kelly; sister and brother-in-law, Reva and Bob Semones; grandchildren, Scot and Toby Duncan, Tara McAllister, Elizabeth McCann, Chris Duncan; greatgrandchildren, Christopher, Caleb, Scarlett Duncan, Sarah Wilson, Parker McAllister, Currin McCann, Jordan, Kayla and Brandon Duncan; sistersin-law, Julia Bratton and husband, Robert, Sally Boles and husband, Rudy, Mary Peterman and husband, Bill, Mary Francis Teany and Margie Teany; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Russell was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy. He owned and operated Duncan's Texaco for 36 years in Christiansburg, he served on the County Board of Supervisors for four years. He was a Mason, and a member of the Lions Club and Jaycee's. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Christiansburg Life Saving Crew. He was a member of Old Brick Presbyterian Church in Radford, Va.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2010, at the Horne Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be conducted 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2010, at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kathy Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Indian Creek Cemetery. GREENSBORO - Robert C. Semones, 77, of Greensboro, died on February 28 at home after a long illness.
A native of Carroll County, VA, Bob attended Virginia Tech. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a salesman and executive in the furniture industry for over 40 years. He was an accomplished horseman with a love for Hackney ponies. He was also an officer and long-time member of the American Hackney Association.
He was predeceased by a brother, Donald G. Semones, and a sister, Janet Semones Patton.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Reva Duncan Semones of the home; three daughters, Celeste Semones Brawner (Tom) of Greensboro, Jeanine Semones Lovell (Tommy) of Rural Hall, and Renee Semones Briley (Randy) of Kernersville; and five grandchildren, Simone Lovell, Nicolette Lovell, Candace Lovell of Rural Hall, Walker Brawner of Greensboro, and Reese Briley of Kernersville. He is also survived by a sister, Betty Semones Wyrick, of Weaversville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Greensboro for their compassionate care in Bob's final days.
A graveside service will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 1. Forbis & Dick, Guilford Chapel is handling funeral arrangements. Reba Mitchell Duncan, 95, of Christiansburg, Va., went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at 1 a.m.
She was born on October 30, 1919, to the late Elbert J. and Clara Ada Smith Mitchell of Indian Valley, Floyd, Va. Reba lived her last years in Skyline Manor Nursing Home in Floyd.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Fred (Speedy) Randolph Duncan, who passed away on May 21, 2009; and two sons, Richard Eugene Duncan and Larry Randolph Duncan.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Jean Duncan Gay of Roanoke, and Shirley Ann Harless Sweeney and husband, Vernon, of Christiansburg; two grandsons, Keith W. Harless and wife, Diane, of Rocky Mount, and Kevin S. Harless and wife, Sherrie, of Roanoke; six great-grandchildren, Chris Harless, Brandon Harless, Abigail Harless, Jessica Perfater, Jordan Perfater, and Jasmine Perfater; two great-great-granddaughters, Alysa Harless and Lily Harless; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all the staff of Skyline Manor Nursing and Rehab Center for all their care and compassion.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 14, 2015, from noon to 2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held directly after at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Thomas Pegram officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.

Fred Randolph "Speedy" Duncan, 88, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 21, 2009. He was born July 5, 1920 in Floyd County to the late John B. and Virgie Phillips Duncan. He was a Word War II veteran, serving in the Army in the American Asiatic Pacific Theatre and was a member of the VFW and DAV. He retired from the Radford Arsenal after 30 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Reba Mitchell Duncan; a son, Larry Duncan, of Roanoke, Va.; a daughter, Betty Gay, of Roanoke, Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Harless Sweeney and her husband, Vernon Sweeney, of Christiansburg, Va.; brother and sister-in-law, Vance and Lena Duncan, of Christiansburg, Va.; sisters-in-law, Ruby Duncan, Dovemi Duncan and Goldie Duncan; three grandchildren, Keith Harless, of Rocky Mount, Va., Kevin Harless, of Roanoke, Va., and Joy Perfater, of Christiansburg, Va.; six great-grandchildren, Abigail Harless, Chris Harless, Brandon Harless, Jessica Perfater, Jordan Perfater, and Jasmine Perfater; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff at Salem Health and Rehab. Center for their care and compassion for Fred. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Horne Funeral Home, with Pastor Kenneth Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 from 12 noon until time of service at Horne Funeral Home. Dovemi Lillian Marshall Duncan, 88, of Indian Valley passed away on the evening of Thursday, January 28, 2016, at Heritage Hall Rich Creek.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hascue Bernard Duncan; parents, Clydis Marshall and Edna Duncan; infant son, Bergil Andrew Duncan; sister, Geneva Marshall; brothers, Clarence Marshall, Cobern Marshall, Otis Marshall and Rufus Marshall; half-brother, Monroe Duncan; and son-in-law, Marvin Jarels.

Dovemi is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mozelle and Gene Morrell, Brenda and Allen Cox, both of Indian Valley, and Nadean Jarels of Christiansburg; granddaughters and their husbands, Melissa and Darren Werner, Lynn and Greg Reed, Angela and Rocky Huff, Kayla and Chad Piediscalzo; grandson, Jameson Jarels; great-grandchildren, Darren and Kendall Reed, Will and Sam Werner, Jana and Shane Huff; sisters, Verna Marshall and Alice Snyder; half-sister, Shirley Bryant; brother-in-law and wife, Vance and Lena Duncan; sisters-in-law, Lorene Marshall and Vivian Marshall.

Dovemi was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an excellent cook and homemaker and enjoyed preparing big Sunday dinners for her family. Her interests included family, gardening, canning, crocheting, cross stitching and making handmade arts and crafts. She loved watching all of the wildlife in her yard and was enamored with her birds, especially the red cardinals. She loved spending time with her family and was always so happy to be with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If there were three words to sum up the life of this precious woman, they would be family, faith and love. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2016 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rocky Huff and Pastor Jay Law officiating. The interment will follow at Indian Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon till 2 p.m. at Maberry Funeral Home.
