Calvin A. Akers, 79, of Laurelville, died October 14, 2012 at OSU. He was
born on March 22, 1933 in West Virginia the son of Kenneth and Thelma
(Painter) Akers. He was a Jehovah Witness. He was preceded in death by his
parents, five brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Marie
(Morton) Akers; daughters, Evelyn Akers, Debora Welsh and Tena DeVault; five grandchildren, Brandy, Leslie, Kelsey,
Braxton and Daniel; two great-grandchildren, Abbie and Alex; and ten
siblings. Memorial service will be held Saturday November 3, 2012 at the

EDWARD "C" AKERS, JR., a well-known resident of the Rich Valley
section of Washington County, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010, at Johnston
Memorial Hospital. He
was born April 1, 1929, in Washington County, Virginia, a son of the late C.
E. Akers, Sr. and Pearl Kestner Akers. He lived his
entire life in Washington County and was a retired mechanic. He had worked
several places through the years including Abingdon Dodge, J. C. Vann
Equipment Co., Tri-Vann, and Lebanon Equipment. He was a quiet, gentle man
who was always helpful to folks and enjoyed country music and eating
breakfast out with his friends. He will be sadly missed by his dog
"Brit". He was of the Methodist faith. Survivors
include one sister, Annette A. Hay and husband Elmer of Abingdon;
three brothers, Leroy D. Akers of Bristol, Tennessee, Eugene F. Akers of
Bristol, Virginia, and Kenneth D. Akers and wife Nellie of Abingdon,
Virginia, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral
services for Charles Edward "C" Akers, Jr. will be conducted at
8:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 26, 2010 in the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with
Pastor Jerry A. Eggers and Pastor Larry Linkous officiating. The family will
receive friends at the funeral home from 6:30 P.M. until the time of the
funeral service. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday,
May 27, 2010, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Harold
Mitchell, Don Wirt, Bob Reynolds, Earl Fogleman,
Scott Gobble, Allen Hay, Kenny Akers, and Jimmy Reynolds. Honorary
pallbearers will be additional nephews and friends. The funeral procession
will leave the funeral home at 10:40 A.M. on Thursday. Friends may join the
family and pallbearers in the funeral procession or meet at the cemetery.
Friends will also be received at the home of Kenneth Akers, 12116 Bow Hunter

-- Mrs. Dora Blanche Counts, age 92, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at the Grace
Health Care Center. She
was born on Jan. 13, 1911, in Washington County, Va., and was a daughter of
the late Charles Akers and Mona Webb Akers. She was also preceded in death by
her husband, Roy Gilmer Counts. She attended Temple Baptist Church. She
is survived by a brother, Curtis Akers of Marion, Ohio; special
sisters-in-law, Joyce Akers and Ruth Taylor, both of Abingdon; special
nieces, Angelia Akers of Abingdon and Vickie Kendrick and Tammy Vicidomini, both of Bristol Virginia; and several other
nieces and nephews. The
funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at the
graveside in Knollkreg Memorial Park, with Rev.
John W. Price officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. till
10:45 a.m. Wednesday before the service. Honorary casket bearers will be Dr.
