Saturday, September 27, 1997. Born in Geneva, N.Y., he was a son of
Isabella Simms Landis of Modesto, Calif., and the late Samuel C. Arnold. He
also was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Seth Arnold. He was employed
with Fairmont Tamper and was a Mason and a Navy veteran. In addition to his
mother, he is survived by his wife, Geneva Cox Arnold of Lexington, S.C.;
two sons, John Gabriel Arnold of Columbia, S.C., and Joshua Mark Arnold of
Charleston, S.C.; a brother, Fred Arnold of New York, and one
granddaughter, Madeline Joy Arnold of Columbia, S.C. Funeral services for
John Gilbert (''Jack"") Arnold will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at
St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 403 Park Road, Lexington, S.C. Burial will be
in the Cox Family Cemetery in Indian Valley, Va. The family will receive
friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Caughman-Harman Funeral Homes, Lexington
Chapel, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, S.C. 29072. Memorials may be made

State St.,
Seneca Falls. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday
in St. Paul Episcopal Church, Waterloo. The Rev. David R.
Mihalyi, rector, will officiate. Burial
will be in the Cox Family Cemetery, Indian Valley, Va.
Mr. Arnold was born in Toms River, N.J., Sept. 21, 1968, son of John G. and
Geneva Cox Arnold. He was a

Willard Cox and Rev. Kenny Wurzburger officiating. Burial will be in the

1996, in in Lewis-Gale Hospital, Salem. She was born on November 8, 1914
and was the daughter of the late Frank Taylor Altizer and Flora Isabelle
Dulaney. She was preceded in death by her husband, Berman Lee Cox and
several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Cox is survived by one son and
daughter-in-law, Wilkie and Bonnie Cox of Christiansburg; two daughters and
sons-in-law, Wanda and Jabe Hollandsworth of Christiansburg and Bonnie and
Harlan Wade of Roanoke; three grandsons, Gregory Scott Hollandsworth of
Christiansburg, Michael Kevin Wade of Roanoke, Alan Jeffrey Wade of Andrews
AFB, Md.; five granddaughters, Anita Cox, Jessica Cox, and Kim Allen all of
Christiansburg, Kathy Cox of Roanoke, Lisa Sheppard of Richmond; five
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Archie Altizer of Radford and Frank
Altizer Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz.; and one sister, Edith Williams of Del.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 1996, at White
Rock Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Kenny Wurzburger and Elder
Willard Cox officiating. Burial will be in the Cox Cemetery. Mayberry

Cox, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Radford
Rehabilitation Center. He was born on January 20, 1929 to James P. Cox and
Jessie Altizer Cox of Floyd County. He was preceded in death by his wife of
69 years, Bessie Hollandsworth Cox, sister; Effie Higgs, brothers; Russell
Cox, Coleman Cox and Phillip Cox and an infant sister. He is survived by
four children and their spouses; Brenda and Wayne Johnson, Sandra Rorrer,
Donald and Debbie Cox, Wayne and Erma Cox; 14 grandchildren; three
step-grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; sisters, Reba Wade, Glenda
DeHart; brother, Allen Cox. He was a retired dairy farmer in Montgomery
County and a disabled veteran of World War II having served in the Battle
of the Bulge. He was a faithful member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Valley
View Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Larry Hollandsworth and Elder Raymond
Goad officiating. Interment will follow in the Cox Family Cemetery with
Military Rites by the Army National Guard. Family will receive friends from
10 a.m. to noon prior to the service at the church.

Bessie was born May 18, 1927, to the late Clive and Ruby Quesenberry
Hollandsworth. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death
by her brother, Herbert Hollandsworth; sisters, Ruth Gallimore and Majella
Myers; and two infant brothers.
She is survived by her husband, of 68 years, Bernard J. Cox; children,
Brenda and Wayne Johnson, Sandra Rorrer, Donald and Debbie Cox, Wayne and
Erma Cox; 14 grandchildren including two special granddaughters /
caregivers, Connie Crockett and Elizabeth Quick; 30 great-grandchildren; 2
step-grandchildren; 4 step-great grandchildren; sisters, June and William
(Bill) Reynolds, Ardith Harris, Joyce and Donald Henley, and Joan Henley;
brothers, Randolph and Edith Hollandsworth, and Larry and Sandra
Hollandsworth; many nieces and nephews and cousins; special caregivers,
Phyllis Donathan and Tara Smith.
A special thanks to Home Instead Senior Care, Intrepid Health Care
Services, and Good Samaritan Hospice.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at the
Valley View Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Raymond Goad, Elder Larry
Hollandsworth, and Dr. Joel Burroughs officiating. Interment will follow in
the Cox Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon to 2 p.m. prior
to the service. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cox

Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Jep Cox, Cliff
Harris, and Early Harris; one son, Arnie Harris; one sister, Lucille
Lester; three brothers, Davis Lester, Elvin Lester and Dempsey Lester.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Jane Cox, Willis;
several stepsons and stepdaughters; four sisters and two brothers-in-law,
Lela Marshall, Radford, Ada and Aaron Altizer, Floyd, Annie and George
Bower, Gay Royal, Christiansburg; one brother, Ray Lester, Christiansburg;
three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11
a.m. Saturday, February 17, 1996, at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel,
Floyd, with Elder Cecil E. Quesenberry and Elder Sidney Rakes officiating.
Burial will be in the Cox Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7

Wilkie Monroe
Cox, 79, of Christiansburg, Va., formerly of Floyd County, passed away
suddenly on January 14, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents,
Berman and Ila Cox; an infant son and daughter, and stepdaughter, Kimberly
Allen. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Bonnie Bradley Cox;
daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Craig Beale of Roanoke, and Jessica
and Ryan Marquart of Christiansburg, and daughter, Anita Ferguson of Pilot;
sisters, Wanda Hollandsworth of Christiansburg, and Bonnie and Harlan Wade
of Roanoke; grandchildren, Christopher and Sierra Ferguson, Hunter Linkous,
Cody Ferguson, Mackenzie Linkous, Jayden Marquart, Ava and Emma Beale,
Addison Marquart, Grayson Marquart; and great-grandson, Evan Ferguson.
Also, nieces, nephews, numerous cousins and special friends. Wilkie retired
from Kollmorgen/Inland Motors in 2018 after 34 years and previously worked
for Corning Glass Works. He loved listening to Old Time music and watching
Nascar races. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys and Dale Earnhardt fan. He
enjoyed working in the garden and spent many years helping his parents on
their farm in Floyd County. He also loved spending family vacations in the
Great Smoky Mountains. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather
and loved spending time with his family more than anything. He will be
missed by so many. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020,
from 5 until 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held
Sunday, January 19, 2020, at 2 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with
Pastor Shake Smith and Pastor Mike Vest officiating. Interment will follow
at the Cox Cemetery in Floyd.
