Freda Marie Weddle, 76, of Bristol, Tenn., went to be with the Lord, Thursday March 17, 2017. Mrs. Weddle was born in Sandstone, W.Va., Summers County on July 7, 1940. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vernon E. Weddle; son, Gary Wilson Weddle; and mother, Sybil Williams Shackelford. Growing up she was especially close to her grandparents, the late George Walters Ayers and Parmellia Taylor Ayers. Mrs. Weddle worked for Sears for over 15 years in Calif. and Ga., and later enjoyed working part time at Burger King in Blountville, Tenn. When her family was young, she hosted the neighborhood kids to pool parties and was very active in scouting with her three sons. She enjoyed reading, bowling, gardening, and her backyard birds. She had a great time with the Red Hatters of Bristol, Tenn. and attended Redeemer Lutheran Church. Survivors include her sons, Vernon Lee Weddle and wife, Lori, of Camas, Wash., and Kevin Porter Weddle of Bristol, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Jeana Marie Weddle and Erik Robert Weddle, both of Portland, Oreg.; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. The family will hold a Celebration Graveside Service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Rose Lawn Cemetery, 4410 Lee Highway, Marion, Virginia 24354. The family would like to thank the many friends and family members who have been generous with prayers and support. The family would like to express special gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and aides at Bristol Regional Medical Center ICU4 and Wellmont Hospice House. PUGH, Bessie E. Weddle, 98, of Bedford, died Wednesday, September 8, 1999 in Carilion Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born July 11, 1901 in Floyd County, a daughter of the late Joseph Weddle and Flora Hylton Weddle. She was a retired mender of Hampton Looms and she was a charger member of Trinity Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Wiley Pugh, six brothers, Lemon Weddle, Roy Weddle, Lonnie Weddle, Fred Weddle, Joseph Weddle and John W. Weddle, four sisters, Clyde Sutphin, Reva Quesenberry, Virgie Karnes, Rosetta May Weddle. She is survived by a son, a sister, two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Iris Weddle Cole, 80, of Claudville, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at her home.

She was born Dec. 12, 1928, in Willis to Lonnie Weddle Sr. and Rittie Dickerson Weddle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Clayton Cole; two grandchildren, David and Daniel Cole; and three brothers, Dale Weddle, Elvin Weddle and Cleve Weddle.

She was a member of Hatchers Chapel United Methodist Church; was a member of the F.C.E.; was a former 4-H leader; was a census worker; and had volunteered at voting polls.

Surviving are a daughter, Jane Williams of Roanoke; two sons, Dr. Richard Cole of Stuart and Joseph Cole of Claudville; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, John Weddle of Mount Airy, N.C., and Lonnie Weddle Jr. of South Carolina; and one sister, Alice Elizabeth Summers of Woodlawn.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hatchers Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harry Shirrell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.

WILLIS - Reva Weddle Quesenberry, age 85, passed away Thursday, May 14, 1992, at Radford Community Hospital. She was the widow of Roy H. Quesenberry.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Victor and Virginia Quesenberry, Willis; granddaughter and husband, Carolyn and David Pratt, Floyd; grandson and wife, Kevin and Samantha Quesenberry, Christiansburg; two great-grandchildren, Andrea Pratt, Joshua Pratt, Floyd; two brothers and five sisters-in-law, Roy and Lyda Weddle, Willis; Lonnie and Rita Weddle, Galax; Gertie Weddle, Radford; Reda Weddle, Maryland; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Bessie and John Pugh, Verna Wilford, all of Bedford; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Topeco Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Richard Thomas and the Rev. Ralph Spradling officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd.

Glenna Richards Weddle, 94, of Radford, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018. She was born on February 6, 1923 in Avondale, W.Va., daughter of the late Otto and Molly Richards. In 1943 she enlisted in the United States Marines where she served proudly until 1945. Glenna loved her family, her country, her church, and the United States Marine Corps. She continued to serve her country by becoming the Selective Service (Draft Board) Clerk and Board member in the 1960's and 1970's. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, John W. Weddle. Glenna is survived by her sons, Michael and John W. Weddle Jr., and grandchildren, Jeffrey Weddle, Aaron Weddle and Catherine Weddle. Glenna was a loving and caring daughter, mother, wife, Sunday school teacher, neighbor and patriot. She will be greatly missed by all with whom she came into contact. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gregory Harrell officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
