Ruby Alice Wickham Sisson, 96, of the Alleghany Otey community of Montgomery County, Va., passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at her home. She was born on October 6, 1913, to the late Christian Oscar Wickham and Mary Irena Poff Wickham. She was preceded in death by husbands, Paul B. Sisson and George V. Sisson; sister, Mary Hester Sisson; brothers, Schyler, Banks, Clifton, William, Herman, Irvin, Hersey, and Benjamin Wickham. She is survived by son, Kenneth C. Sisson and his wife, Kathleen A. Sisson; granddaughters, Stephanie L. Sisson and Deborah M. Owen and husband, Terry M. Owen; great granddaughters, Samantha K. Solomon, Abagail R. Owen, and Ava M. Owen; great-grandson, Logan Modoc Owen; several cousins, nieces, and nephews to numerous to count; and friends and neighbors from all over the United States whom she considered part of her own family. The family wishes to thank the members of the Carilion Hospice staff and granddaughter, Stephanie, for her devoted and loving care of her grandmother during the last days of her life. The family will receive friends at the Horne Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Crockett Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Angle and the Rev. Terry Ross officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery, Alleghany Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to the Piedmont Cemetery Fund, c/o Drema Foster, 3381 Alleghany Springs Road, Shawsville, Va. 24162. Charles L. Sisson of the Wheatland neighborhood, died at his home near here Tuesday afternoon after a short illness. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. J Ray Williamson of Roanoke, Ralph Sisson of Roanoke; Mrs. J E Osborne, Stanton; Minor Sisson and Mrs. T D West, Wheatland. Three brothers and a sister also survive; George W., Stanley D., and Thomas S. of Otey, and Mrs John Boone of Floyd. Funeral services will be held at the Wheatland Lutheran Church by his pastor, the Rev. E B Smith this afternoon, Thursday, at 2 o'clock, with burial in the adjacent cemetery.
