Description:
This is a rather old-looking house, having never been painted.  It is a dark color and appears to be very much older than it is.  The front faces the river and the back is toward the highway.  Part of the rooms have been remodelled to some extent, the floors are new, being made of narrow even plank.  The old doors have not been torn down, however, but are plain with no panels and have old fashioned wooden latches. The floor in the small kitchen is higher than in the room adjoining.  The chimneys are made of brick and stand one on the east and one on the west.  The foundation is built of rock.  There is no front porch, but a very small back porch.
Historical Significance:
This is one of the older log homes in the county.

Edwin Moore Jones, 89, of Salem, died Saturday, May 27, 1995. He was born in Floyd Co., Va. and was the widow of Ethel Hackett Jones. 

Mr. Jones was retired from Norfolk & Western Railway as a Master Electrician. He was a member of First Christian Church and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Salem Lodge #100. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. 

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Carol Jean and Bill Nunnally, Salem; daughter, Doris J. Manning and fiance Joe S. Porter, Stewartsville; sister and brother-in-law, Iris Peters and Leo Mortimer, Thomasville, N.C.; sister, Dolly Harmon, Bassett; brother and sister-in-law, Vernon L. and Daisy Jones, Salem; brother, Bobby Jones, Floyd; sister-in-law, Carma H. Carter, Roanoke; grandchildren, Will and wife, Shannon Nunnally, Salem, Kevin and wife, Sandra Manning, Salem, Kristen Nunnally, Charlottesville; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Kenneth R. Myers Sr., 76, of Roanoke, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Kenneth was born in Roanoke, on January 19, 1937, and lived in the area all of his life. He was the son of the late Homer J. and Grace V. Etter Myers. Kenneth was employed by Kleen Uniform for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois I. Jones Myers, in 2004; his brother, Lewis Myers; and brother-in-law, Fred "Pete" Sweet.

Kenneth is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Gary S. and Debra Wilson, of Stewartsville, and Ken and Sandy Myers, of Roanoke; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane Myers and Charles Law, of Catawba, and Tracie and Jan-Michael Cox, of Roanoke; nine grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; sisters, Lois "Tootsie" Sweet and Katherine Neighbors, both of Salem; and special friend, Lucy Winkfield.

Josiah "Kenny" Jones, 89, of Christiansburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 15, 2017. Kenny was born in Floyd County, Va. on December 3, 1928. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Perry and Bessie Graham Jones and one brother and one sister. Kenny was a life-long employee of E.F.N. Trucking as a hard working mechanic. A quiet man that loved to tend his yard and was always available to help friends and family. He took great pride in his family's accomplishments. Kenny is survived by his wife of 67 years, Irene Lawson Jones; children, Carolyn Stump (Neal), Mike Jones (Holly), and Brian Jones (Becky Sloan); grandchildren, Beth (Sam) Lucas, Deborah Stump (Danny Obrien), Amy (Frankie) Williams; great-grandchildren, Bryan Caswell, Madison Lucas, Hannah Lucas, and Abbie Williams; special niece, Patti Altizer (Alvie) and nephew, Wayne Cox. The family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 18, 2017 from 6 o 8 p.m. at New Hope Church of God. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Pastor T.
