Funeral services for L. V. Sanford, 70, of Bay City will be held at 3 p. m. Monday, Oct. 19, 1998 at Enterprise Baptist Church in Bay City, with Rev. J. Weldon Gilbert, pastor, and Rev. Russell N. Pointer, eulogist officiating. Burial will follow at Burial Association Cemetery in Van Vleck. Visitation will be Sunday until 9 p. m. in the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel and from 2 p. m. until 3 p. m. Monday at the church. Sanford was born in Wharton Saturday, July 2, 1927 to Nathan Sanford and died Monday Oct. 12 at his residence. He was a member of Enterprise Baptist Church and of the Local Union No. 116 until retiring after many years in rice farming. Sanford is survived by his wife of 50 years. Hattie Lee Riggins Sanford of Bay City; son, Lewis Victor Sanford of Bay City; stepdaughter, Cora Lee Carey of Arizona, grandchildren, Gregory Anthony Simmons of Fla., Roland Rutherford Simmons, LaMont Barnell, and Christopher Williams, all of Bay City, David Wes Carey and Anita Rutherford of Arizona; and April Lee Carey of Maryland, great grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Gregory, II, and Michael; sisters, Edna Tone and Margaret Cooper; and brother John L. Bonner, all of Bay City; also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a family of friends. Webb is preceded in death by his parents, Nathan Sanford and Johnnie Mae Sanford Bonner; step father, Willie Bonner, Sr.; sisters, Ruth Green, Wilma Brooks, and Charlotte Bonner; and brother, Willie Bonner, Jr. Active pallbearers will be Gregory Simmons, Roland Simmons, La'Mont Barnell, Troy Brooks, and Carlton Brooks. Honorary pallbearers will be John L. Bonner, Charles Green, Jerry Bryant, Sr., Jerry Bryant, Jr., Curtis Walker, Artis Allen, Leon Johnson, and Rance Johnson. Delores Sardinea, 73, of Bay City, Texas; stepped out of time and into Eternity on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Matagorda Regional Hospital. She was born September 28, 1946 in Bay City, Texas to Abel Rutherford and Alice B. Johnson. She was employed as a Supervisor of Housekeeping at Best Western Matagorda Hotel until her retirement. She was a faithful member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoralship of Pastor T. L. Richardson where she served until she departed this Earthly Life. She attended Public Schools in Bay City, Texas. In life those who knew her will remember her for always taking care of children. She loved her children and her family. Those who knew her knows that she never met a stranger. Irving Edward Southall Our beloved Irving Edward Southall was born on January 1, 1942 to Isham Southall Jr. and Carrie Lena Southall on the Letulle Farm and later moved to Van Vleck, Texas. Irving accepted Christ at an early age by Reverend N. J. Johnson. Irving was United in holy matrimony to the late Audrey M. Ellis Southall. To this union one child was born. Later on in life he married Travis A. Edison Southall (deceased). Irving attended school in Van Vleck, Texas. He worked as a rice farmer, truck driver, and a supervisor for a longshoreman company in Old Ocean, Texas. On Friday, June 23, 2017, Irving answered the call from his heavenly father to come home and be at rest. He will reunite with his father and mother, one sister, Margie Brooks; two brothers, Theremine and Charles Southall; and one step sister, Lorraine Nearly. Irving will be truly missed by his loving daughters, Florida D. Southall of Houston and Lisa Chavis of Sweeny; three grandchildren, Sh'nedria M. Fletcher (Jason) of Missouri City, Tra'Dorian Williams of Fresno, and Ly'Layshia M. Williams-Colter (Donnie) of Houston; Paw Paw's six babies: Sereniti (Ren), Ja'vorian (Jitter bug), Jah'zarria (Chuggie) Fletcher, Triniti, Londynn Williams and Za'kearria Thomas (Zae); three siblings, Robert Southall, Sr. of Cincinnati, Ohio, Clement Southall and Marie Dunn both of Van Vleck, and Joseph George of Bay City; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Virginia Southall, 98, of Bay City, died at her home August 14. Survivors include: daughter Mrs. Ollie Hall of Bay City; sons, Arthur Southall of Angleton, Isham Southall of Van Vleck, Jessie and Sam Southall of Bay City; 28 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Mrs. Jane Monroe of Palacios.
