Anthony was born August 1, 1954 to Lois Kendrick and Samuel Green. He was an avid student at O. H. Herman Schools. He was raised by his mother and adopted father, Matthew King Sr. Tony was a 1972 Graduate of Van Vleck High School. He graduated from Prairie View A & M University majoring in drafting in 1976. He followed his mission and became a Baptist Minister at Outreach Baptist Church in Houston in the 1990’s. He was retired and living happily in Midway, Texas. He loved the Houston Texans, fishing, rose gardening, playing dominoes and cards. But more than anything he loved his family and serving God’s people. Anthony transitioned peacefully on Thursday, June 17, 2021 after a courageous battle with covid at Kindred Hospital, Sugarland. He leaves precious memories to his loving wife, Linda; daughter, Jenaba; sons, Jessie, Michael; sisters, Yolanda, Alice, Charlotte, Melva, Helen, Vina, Hattie; brothers, Claude, Matthew, Samuel, Raymond; stepmother, Rosie Green; loving aunt, Cassie Manning and uncle, Ellis Leroy Boone. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Tonia, Susan, Kerley. Visitation will be Friday, June 25, 2021 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas. A Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. at the Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 2 p.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1615 Skinner Street, Freeport, Texas. Funeral services for Mr. Isaiah King, Sr., 72, of Van Vleck, will be held at 11 a. m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998 at the St. John Baptist Church at Van Vleck, Rev. Ruben Newell officiating. Burial will follow at the Burial Association Cemetery in Van Vleck. Visitation will be Friday until 9 p. m. in the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel, and Saturday from 10 until 11 a. m. at the church. King was born in Ashwood Saturday, Dec. 5, 1925, to Eli King and Leona Fisher King, and died Friday, Aug. 14, at Vencor Hospital, Pasadena, TX. His religious aspirations included membership at St. John Baptist Church, where he faithfully. Among his Christian duties included serving as Superintendent of the Sunday School, Advisory for the Brotherhood, member of the Male Chorus, Sunday School Teacher, Chairman of the Deacon Board, Church Trustee, as well as serving in other positions throughout his devoted membership. He was employed at Phillips 66 Petroleum Company for 38 years, where he worked as senior boiler maker until his retirement June 8, 1986. King is survived by three daughters and six sons, and their spouses, Allen King, Clyde Southal, Ronnie King and Toni, all of Van Vleck, Connie King-Cooper and Gary of Sugar Land, Monek King-Lewis of Bay City, Patrice King-Brown and Steve of West Columbia, Wesley Brown and Kimberly of Killeen, Steve King of West Columbia, and Isaiah King, Jr. and Tanita of Clute; special friends, Wilma King, Joyce King, and Laverne Newell; two sisters, Jeanette Alliniece of Bay City, and Princella Jones of Houston; 30 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a family of many friends. She was involved in many community and civic activities.
