I'm trying to locate an article that sketched the life of Amanda Jane TATE, published in the "Bedford Bulletin" in the summer of 1916 (referred to in her obituary later that year). The angle was that she was one of the last surviving Bedford County women whose son had fought in the Civil War. The microfilm copy of the "Bedford Bulletin" skips the last half of 1916. Does anyone know if other copies of the newspaper exist somewhere, or where else I might look? Thanks,

Looking for information about the parents and siblings of Caleb Browning who married Betsey Sinkler in Bedford Co., VA on 17 Sep 1791. Betsey's father was Robert Sinkler, Sr. who died in Bedford ca 1827. Will appreciate help with Caleb.

Moore, David W. Born abt.1855 to Godrick (Goodrick) Moore. Married 5/27/1878 to Ella GETTLE. I think I found him in the 1920 Virginia census, married to Rosa? Wondering if this is the same David and whether his wife died previous to marriage. Found his Gettle marriage (his age was listed as 23) in the LVA marriage listings.

I have a William DOWDY and Martha HUDSON DOWDY of Bedford Co VA who were born circa 1820 who migrated to Trigg Co KY about 1870. I’m trying to find out who the parents of Martha are. I think her full name may have been Martha Ann HUDSON. I'm hopeful that a marriage record that I found in Trigg dated 1874 between Ardella F Hudson and James Foy ELLIS at the residence of Richard HUDSON will provide clues to Martha's family. The marriage was in the presence of John J Smith, Rob Carter and others. Other marriages in this same register included Bedford Co surnames DOWDY, OVERSTREET and CREASY. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with information about these Hudson family members.

Interested in the Lewis and Galloway families listed on the 1790 and 1800 tax lists. I have a Thomas Lewis b.abt 1770 who married an Elizabeth Galloway in Wythe Co. VA in 1799. I do not know the parents of Thomas Lewis and would like to find them. I believe Elizabeth's father was a William Galloway. He is present on the 1800 tax list for Wythe Co. along with a Thomas and Maney Galloway. I would be interested in finding any links between these Wythe families and those in Bedford.
