My grandfather was adopted. I have recently learned that his name at birth was Dutch Bradford Witt. He was born in Bedford County. He had an older brother and sister who were placed in an orphanage. Dutch was never legally adopted by the people who raised him, Lizzie and Aubry Padget, although they named him Paige Hamner Padget. I am trying to find out the names of his real parents, who I assume were Witts. No one in the family seems to know what happened to them, or how my grandfather came to be adopted by the Padgets. My grandfather and his adoptive parents have long since died. I would appreciate any information on this, or information about where I may locate these records. Thank you

First moving to Pittsylvania County, Va. and then to Gladys in Campbell County Va. Gladys may have been called "Pigeon Run" at that time. My ggrandfather was John Edward Burnette, b 6-9-1851, my grandfather was Otey Guster Burnette, b. 11-27-1887 and grandmother was Mary Hester Keesee Burnette, b. 2-6-1889. I would appreciate any info from the Bedford County period.

I am looking for Amos Richardson, born about 1761 in Beford County, Virgina, according to his pension files. Also, Amos died in Campbell County, TN after 1850, where according to the 1850 Campbell County Census he was 89 years old. He is also buried in Campbell County, TN. According to the Census in 1850, he was around several Richardsons, and I'm trying to figure out if they were related, and how. Anyway, what I need is birth recognition, with parents, and possible other siblings he grew up with. What kinds of Records are available on the Richardson Family in Beford County in mid to late 1700s, and how do I go about getting copies made?. I live in California, and would be willing to pay for copies of records etc. First I would like to find Amos' birth record if possible. I hope I am not asking too much... Let me know if I am.

I am looking for the parents of Robert Nuckols, born 1870, possibly Bedford County VA, married Sallie T. Stinnett on September 5, 1892 in Amherst County, VA. He was the father of my great-grandfather Homer Robert Nuckols, and of Effie Loving Nuckols. Any info would be appreciated. I have checked every file I could find on VAGenWeb and posted queries eveywhere I've come across so far...he had to have had parents!!! But so far I can find absolutely no evidence of them...anywhere! I would also appreciate any suggestions of further places to look. So far I've posted to the Nuckles forum at Genforum as well as the Nuckols page on Common Threads...I've checked the LDS pages, Ancestry.com, and as I said, all of the wonderful files at VAGenWeb. Their children were: William Berry, George Lilburn, Charles Newsom (married Minnie Lee St.Clair), and Robert Daniel Carter. Sarah Elizabeth St.Clair's father and mother were Robert Mitchell St.Clair and Sarah Elizabeth Kelly, but I do not know Charles Lilburn Carter's father or mother. I am looking for any information about Andrew RUSHER who was born in 1746 or shortly before that year. He purchased land in 1767, from the Calloway family, along the banks of Sycamore Creek, near a mountain that used to be called Johnson Mountain. He is believed to be the brother of George RUSHER who served with Col Byrd in 1760. Andrew Rusher married Ann Turman, daughter of Benjamin Turman, Sr. The Turmans lived next to him on Sycamore Creek, but moved shortly after Andrew and Anne were married. I am specificaly looking for the parents and siblings of Andrew Rusher, and the birthplace of Andrew Rusher. He died in Bedford County in 1822. Ann Turman Rusher died in Bedford County in 1823. The origin of the Rusher family is said to have been Germany.

Searching for the parents and siblings of William HOLLY. He was born Sept 18, 1816 in Bedford Co., VA. He lived alone in Allegheny Co., VA per 1840 census. On Feb. 17, 1842 he married Malinda DEW in Allegheny Co., VA. She was the daughter of Charles and Nancy PINKLEY DEW. They sold their land in 1848 and moved with several of Malinda's siblings to Macoupin Co., Illinois. Their children were: John Wesley (single), Lewis R (single), Sarah Catherine married Francis C SIEBERT, Nancy Virginia married James LOGSDON, Benjamin Franklin married Martha Mariah WEDDLE, and Charles William (single). Wiilliam died Sept 19,1872 in Macoupin Co., and Malinda and family moved by ox and wagon to Pottawatomie Co., Ks in 1878.

I understand there is a monument in Bedford County comemorating his role in the Revolutionary War. Is that correct? John H. TURNER died 11 Oct. 1864 in connection with the War Between the States. In one of Emaline's records of her child's birth it gives her maiden name as WRIGHT. I want to know what her connection is to Grief WRIGHT. Joel and Emiline's other children are William Washington. Seek info on Robert Hall and family. Robert was reportedly born in Albemarle County in 1761. Enlisted in militia in Henry County in 1778. After term, he "returned home" to Bedford County. In 1779, he re-enlisted under Capt Trigg and Col Merriweather and after that term returned to Bedford. He was "drafted" in 1781 and served under Capt. Clamments(?), Lt. Cobb and Maj Ward. Fought in Battle of '96. Believe he then lived in Bedford for a short time before going to Henry County.

I am interested in finding information on both Cammuel's parents and Anna's parents. He supposedly died in Bedford Co. in the sping of 1799.. they had a son by the name of William Johnson. I do not know if there were other children.
