Mrs Thos Dunn was given a pleasant surprise at her home last Wed afternoon when a number of friends and neighbors gathered to remind her that she was 53 years old that day. A most pleasant afternoon was spent and Mrs Dunn received many nice presents. At 5 a most appetizing lunch was served. Those present were Mrs William Hahn, Mrs Will Dexter, Mrs Frank Kazda, Mrs J Hahn, Mrs Spann, Mrs Rohades, Mrs Weaver, Mrs J Schrader, Mrs Herman Schrader of Stuart and Mrs Hugo Schrader of Ulysses.

John Pherson , an old timer in this county, living 12 miles ne of O'Neill, was found frozen to death yesterday morning. His wife was buried on the hillside close to the cabin he lived in, and years ago he was named Wooden Shoes by the people of the surrounding country, from the fact of his wearing shoes made entirely of wood. His remains will be buried beside those of his wife.

John Seger of Atkinson was before the county court last Saturday on complaint of George Purnell, who alleged that he had been assaulted by Seger. Seger plead guilty to the charge and Judge Carlon fined him $10. and cost, amounting to a total of $33.75. Seger has not paid his fine and he now accompanies quarters in the county jail.

Dan Gleason died on Sat at the Barrett home on S Main St and was buried from the Catholic Church on Mon morning, the pastor Rev Father Loecker conducting the services and he was laid to reat in the Catholic Cem west of town.
Mrs Mary Cannon died at West Point, This state, last Monday, and was brought here for burial on Tues. The funeral was held from the Catholic Church Wed and interment made in the Catholic Cem. Mrs Cannon was mother to Mrs John Crimmons of this place, and was a former resident here and well known. Mrs Cannon was over 80 years old. Her husband preceded her in death about 15 years.
George W Farley was born March 15,1871 in Fayette Co, Iowa. When 3 years of age his parents came to Nebr, where he has resided the greater part of his life. He was married to Mary Moore June 22,1894 at Fairfield, Nebr. In 1906 he moved to Holt County where he resided until his death. He is survived by his wife, one son and 6 daughters, mother, 5 sisters, 1 brother. He passed away at his home, Wed morning, Jan 31,1912 at 9:30 a.m.

Mrs Jane B Sherwood, one of Omaha's pioneer women died at the home of her son, 1110 S 32nd St, late Friday evening. Mrs Sherwood was over 80 years of age and had been ill for several months. She is survived by her son, James B of the Walrath & Sherwood Lumber Co. Funeral services will be held today from the home at 10:30a.

William Thompson and wife are the proud parents of a pair of twins, born this week, one a baby boy weighting 4 pounds and a girl weighing 6 pounds.
Died, Elizabeth Ames, mother of Mrs Albert Purnell, se of town on Wed forenoon. Mrs Ames lived with her dau since the death of her husband several years ago.
Mr and Mrs Deck Russell had the misfortunate to lose their little 3 year old child, Bertha last Friday, the litte one choking to death on a sand cherry pit. Mr and Mrs Russell lived at Newport and brought the little one to Atkinson for burial.
Mr and Mrs V J Howarth's home was brightened last Monday by the arrival of a little son who intends to remain for 21 years.

Clarence, the four month old son of Mr and Mrs Fred Mlinar died yesterday morning at 7. death was caused by an abscess in the region of the bowels.Drs Douglas and Sturdevant performed an operation of Wed in hopes of saving the little fellows life. It relieved him of his suffering but could not save him. The funeral will be held today.
