I am looking for information regarding Rose DENESSEN, born Sep. 3, 1887 in Green Bay, the daughter of William DENESSEN and his wife Rose PEMINGS or PENNINGS. She married Walter ACKLEY and lived in Minneapolis where she died in 1950. I have reason to believe that she had a prior husband named Henry WAGNER, but am looking for any proof and especially any information about what happened to Henry. William and Rose had five other children listed in William's obit in 1929; William Jr. and Joseph of Green Bay, Fred and Charles of Milwaukee and a Mrs. C. Wirtz of Jersey City, New Jersey.

I am looking for info on my grandfather. I know he was born in Chicago in 1896 or 1897. He was born either JACQUES or WILLIAMS, and was adopted by his stepfather, surname DECOTA. His mother was born Nellie JACQUES in Green Bay. I believe Williams was his birth name, but have no info as to whether or not Nellie was actually married to a man named Williams. I know that Nellie returned to Green Bay after my grandfather's birth, but do not know when she married DeCota. As my grandparents were married and my father born in Green Bay, I am hoping there might be someone who may have some info on any of these family names. I thank you for any info you may be able to provide.

FONFEREK, Town of DePere
My greatgrandfather Peter FONFEREK (dob. 1826) left Prussia in 1870 leaving Bremen onboard the Ship Neptune on May 4, 1870, with his wife Agnes (PFISTER) and children Valentine, Kostantia, Lawrence, and Magdalene arriving in New York on July 6th, 1870. The sailing ship encountered fog and light winds on the northern passage. The newspaper account said there were 2 deaths and 1 birth on the passage. They settled in Town of DePere Brown Co.
In the 1880 census, Magdelene and Kostantia are not listed. Two more children were born in the US, Peter and Matilda. Valentine uses the name William and married Mary SCHMIDT and they have 12 children: Mary Fonferek DESSART; Joseph P. FONFEREK; Anna Fonferek FAUL; Magdaline Fonferek NEWCOMB; Frank FONFEREK; Peter FONFEREK; George FONFEREK; William FONFEREK; Edward FONFEREK; Casper FONFEREK; Rosa FONFEREK; and Cecilia FONFEREK.
After 1900 they move to town of Breed, Oconto Co. My father Casper FONFEREK was born June 23, 1903. My father was named after a family friend, Castor Castor. He is listed in the Brown Co 1870 census as arriving from Prussia in 1869. He was a merchant tailor. The only people in the US named FONFEREK are direct descendants of Peter FONFEREK. FONFEREK Falls is located in Brown Co and is one of the 15 highest waterfalls in Wisconsin. I have conducted a phone directory search of Fonfereks in Germany and have located 18 listings. One person, a Doris FONFEREK told me her grand father Theodor FONFEREK was born in Lindenheim, Kries Czarnikow, Posen, Poland on 29 Oct 1873. I'm helping her search her genealogy and maybe the two will link together.

My great grandfather was John G. GROSS (1829-1909) of Green Bay, Wisconsin. His children were August, Caroline, John, Louisa, Frederick, Margaret, Sophia, Christine and my grandfather Godfrey. I have good genealogical records of all the children except August (1854-1930) and John (1858-1934). Would very much like to find out more about these lines. Would also be very willing to share what I have which was originally researched by Leonard Zarp, a descendant of Louisa.

Nellie JAQUES, b. 1866 d.(?) married

2) Thomas WILLIAMS 1893
3) John DECOTA 1898
Nellie had a child, James Henry, born Aug 20, 1896 or 1897. James Henry was raised DeCOTA, but it is belived he was the natural child of Thomas WILLIAMS.
