Mrs Bessie JENKINS NANCE, 91, of 917 N Fountain Ave., died at 9:30 am Monday
in her residence.She was born July 23, 1881, in Champaign County, the daughter
of Atchison and Eliza Lee CONRAD and had resided in Springfield for the past
30 years. She was a member of the Terre Haute United Methodist Church and
the North Hampton Council Daughters of America. Mrs. NANCE spent most of her
life on a farm in Mad River Township, Champaign County, with her first husband,
David JENKINS. He preceded her in death in December 1940. Her second husband,
Bert NANCE, preceded her in death in January 1959. Survivors include two
daughters, Mrs Wilbur (Donna) ULERY of Springfield and Mrs Samuel (Lela)
ZERKLE of Urbana; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and one
great-great grandchild. Her body was taken to the Walter Funeral Home, Urbana,
where friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm Wednesday. Services will
be held at 1:30 pm Thursday in the Funeral Home in charge of the Rev William
Turner, pastor of the Terre Haute United Methodist Church. Burial will be
in the Terre Haute Cemetery.
NANCE--The Springfield Daily-News, Friday, Apr 23, 1948
Mrs Mary Elizabeth NANCE, 67, of Urbana, Route 4, wife of Earnest NANCE,
died at 9:05 pm Thursday in her residence following an illness of two years.
Mrs NANCE was born in Dunlow, W Va, on Aug 28, 1880, and had resided at the
Urbana address for the last two and a half months. She formerly lived with
her step-daughter, Mrs Max BRINES of South Vienna, Route 1. Survivors include
her husband; a son, Joseph HOUSER of Springfield, a daughter, Mrs Cora SNYDER
of Urbana, Route 4; three stepdaughters, Mrs William MILLER and Mrs Theodore
PETERMAN, both of Springfield, and Mrs. BRINES; a stepson, Sherman NANCE
of Springfield, 16 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. The body was
taken to the Littleton funeral home where services will be held at 2 pm Sunday
with the Rev C E Byers officiating. Burial will be in Newcomers Cemetery.
NEER SPRINGFIELD NEWS SUN January 21, 1972 Mechanicsburg
Ben E. Neer, 90, of 29 N. Main St., Mechanicsburg died at 11 p.m. Wednesday
in the Madison Elms Nursing Home, London, following several years of failing
health. He was born in Mechaincsburg, Oct. 31, 1881, the son of Nathan and
Millie Comstock Neer. He retired in 1958 from the Wright-Patteson Air Force
Base. Survivors include his wife Mary; two sons, Nathan of Mechaincsburg
and James of Saudi Arabia; one daughter, Mrs. Roscoe (Mary Christine) Smith
of Mechanicsburg; one brother Mahlon of Catawba; one sister Mrs. Laura Lightle
of Springfield, and two grandchildren.His body was taken to the Skillman
Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, where friends may call Saturday afternoon and
evening. Services will be held at 2 p. m.Sunday in the funeral home in charge
of the Rev. Albert Bitters, pastor of the Mechanicsburg United Methodist
Church.Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.

Mary A. Neer, 89, of the Champaign Nursing Home, died at 10:45 a.m. yesterday
in Mercy Memorial Hospital. She had been a resident of the Home for five
years, and was formerly a resident of Mechanicsburg.She was born in Madison
County, Jan. 25, 1890, the daughter of Noah and Christina Smith Lightle.
She was a member of the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church. Her husband,
Ben E. Neer died in 1972. Survivors include two sons, Nathan L. of Mechanicsburg;
James E. of Saudi Arabia; a daughter, Mrs. Roscoe (Mary Christine) Smith
of Mechanicsburg; three grand children; and four great grandchildren.Services
will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in; the Skillman Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg.
Rev. David G. Heistand will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p. m. Thursday.
NEWLAND -- ST. PARIS NEWS-DISPATCH, Thurs. 15 August 1918
The eleven day old son of Mr. and Mrs. R. G. NEWLAND died August 9 near Rosewood.
The body was taken the following day to Waynesfield, Auglaize co. for burial.

1 Niswonger, James Franklin – Urbana Daily Citizen, Monday, 3
September 2007 James “Jim” Franklin Niswonger, age 66 of DeGraff, died at
6:25 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. On May 2, 1975, he married M. Karen Young in Zanesfield,
Ohio, and she survives. Other relatives include: daughters and sons-in-law Kalani
(Don) Phillips of Tremont City and Terri (Kevin) White of Bellefontaine; brother
Larry Niswonger of Bellefontaine; brothers and sister-in-law Lee (Debby)
Niswonger of DeGraff and Lynn (Susan) Niswonger of DeGraff; sister Mary Ann
Bollack (deceased); sister and brother-in-law Judy (Rodney) McGill of Urbana and
grandchildren Joshua Lattimer, Jordan Rutan, Keri White, Caleb White, Katie
White and Emily White. He was born Thursday, March 13, 1941, in Pemberton, Ohio, a
son of the late Raymond Phillip Niswonger and Elva Karnes Bollack of North
Lewisburg. He worked on the assembly line at Navistar of Springfield,
served in the U. S. National Guard during the Vietnam War and later joined the
Army National Guard. He enjoyed Sprint Car races, flying model airplanes and
spending time with his grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Rexer-Riggin-Madden
Funeral Home on Thursday, Sept 6, from 5-7 p.m. with a memorial service to begin
at 7 p.m. with Pastor Jeffory D. Willetts officiating. Burial of his ashes will
take place in the Springhills Cemetery, Springhills, following the service. The
Logan County Honor Guard will conduct military honors. Condolences may be expressed at
Mrs. Naomi MILLER NICHOLAS, 68, native of St. Paris and for a number of years
a resident of Quincy, died at 1:30 a.m. Monday at Wilson Memorial Hospital,
Sidney. Surviving are her husband, George NICHOLAS, and several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Richeson funeral
home followed by burial in Evergreen cemetery.
Nitchman, Michael W. – Urbana Daily Citizen, Saturday, 2 June 2007
Michael W. Nitchman, 63, of Urbana, Ohio passed away at 9:20 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2007 in his residence.
He was born Dec. 20, 1943, in Urbana, son of the late Luther Paul and Margaret (Byers) Nitchman.
He is survived by his children: Shelly (Jon) Hedrick of Springfield, and Wayne (Leigh Ann) Nitchman of West Liberty; their mother Ruthanne Nitchman of Urbana; seven grandchildren: Leigh Anne Hedrick, Erin Hedrick, Alissa Hedrick, and Shari Hedrick all of Springfield, Michael Nitchman, Michelle Nitchman and Marc Nitchman all of West Liberty; one brother: Richard Nitchman of Saint Paris; and two sisters Louise (Tom) Armstrong of Terre Haute, and Joyce (William) Heaton of Conover.
His parents, three brothers, and two sisters preceded him in death.
Mike graduated from Graham High School in 1961, and he worked for Shepherd Grain and retired in 2005 from Champaign Landmark. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam era. Mike was a member and past member of the Mt. Olivet Masonic Lodge in Christiansburg, Ohio.
The family would like to express their thankfulness to Doug and Juanita Willmeth, Mike and Jan Haney, and Liz Wilson for the love and care they have given to them and to Mike during this time.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 10 a.m. in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris, Ohio, with Pastor Mike Surgeoner of the Springfield Church of Christ presiding. Burial will follow in Terre Haute Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held Monday, June 4, 2007 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Mt. Olivet Lodge will conduct Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

NITCHMAN -- ST PARIS NEWS-DISPATCH, Thurs. 20 February 1947
Willard Wallace NITCHMAN , 69, retired farmer died at 6:00 a.m. Saturday
in his home in St. Paris following an illness of several months.
He was born in Mad River township, a son of Thomas and Rosetta EVILSIZOR
NITCHMAN , but had resided in St. Paris for eleven years.
Surviving are the wife, Alice; three sons, Luther of St. Paris route one,
Kenneth of Piqua, and Russell of Monte Vista, Colo,; a daughter, Josephine,
at home; 15 grandchildren; two brothers, Clyde of Lima, and Charles of Terre
Haute, and four sisters, Mrs. Susie NIXON of St. Paris, Mrs. Ola ROONEY of
Urbana, Mrs. Lola ROACH of Springfield, and Mrs. Mary RUNYON of Findley.
The Junior Order United American Mechanics of which he was a member, held
services at the home Monday evening. The body was taken to the Frank Funeral
Home where services were held Tuesday at 2:30 p. m. with Rev. Rex. G. VAN
COURT in charge. Burial took place in the Terre Haute cemetery.
