Jackson, DeWayne M. – Urbana Daily Citizen, Wednesday, 7 November 2007

DeWayne M. Jackson of Brooksville, Fla. Passed away on Oct. 31, 2007 in Brooksville hospital following a long battle with cancer.

He was born on Feb. 22, 1933 to Lloyd E. and Ruth (Wiant) Jackson.

He lived in the Sidney, Ohio area and worked at Copeland in Sidney for 40 years, then retired to Florida.

He leaves wife Louise of 51 years, three daughters, Linda (Alan) Kristwski of Tampa, Fla., Sandra (Alan) Poe of Springhills, Fla., and Vickey Malone of Lockburne, Ohio, 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by a brother Frank (Darlene) Jackson of Urbana and a sister Arlene (John) Voke of Urbana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Ella Coy and Phyllis Shafer, and two brothers, Doyle and Donald Jackson.

Funeral was held Monday, Nov. 5, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Brewers & Sons Funeral Home, Brooksville, Fla.

JACOBS -- SPRINGFIELD NEWS-SUN SPRINGFIELD (O.) NEWS-SUN APRIL 1988
ILO JACOBS, 81, of 229 Scioto Street, Urbana, died 2:28 PM, Sunday, April 10, 1988 at her residence. She was born January 21, 1907, to Charles Alfred and Mary Adeline (DOLPH) WOOD. She was a member of Bowlusville United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Dolores J. CLARK, of Urbana; grandchildren, Mrs. Douglas (Andrea Lynn) GROW, and Bobby R. CLARK, both of Urbana; great grandchildren, Alexzandra Rose GROW and Joshua Ryan GROW; and also by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Faler JACOBS, in 1966. Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM Wednesday, April 13, in the Walter-Schoedinger Funeral Home, Urbana with the Rev. Gerald GEIGER officiating. Burial in Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home Tuesday from 7:00-9:00 PM.

JENKINS -- ST. PARIS NEWS-DISPATCH, Thurs., August 18, 1932
Mrs. Matilda JENKINS , 78 years old, passed away at the home of her son, Clero in Concord, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock after a long illness. Mrs. JENKINS was the widow of Elija JENKINS, who died twenty years ago.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. William MADDEN, West Liberty; Mrs. Frank WELLER, Millerstown; Mrs. Clarence PENCE, St. Paris; Mrs. Harley DEAL, Mrs. John FLECK, Urbana; three sons, Clero, of Concord and Veto of Urbana and Grover of West Liberty; one sister, Susanna CAMPBELL, of Flectcher.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Community Church in Millerstwon with the Rev. Ed RUNYON, in charge.  Burial was made at Spring Grove Cemetery by Ira Frank, funeral director.

JENKINS -- ST. PARIS NEWS-DISPATCH, Thurs June 4, 1942
Wm. Alba JENKINS, 79, died at his home, four miles southeast of St. Paris, Monday at 11:30 A. M. He had been in failing health for several years but had been critically ill only a short time prior to his death. 
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Alma KUNKLE of Columbus, who has spent the past several weeks with her father, and Mrs. Lawrence RUNKEL of St. Paris route town, and one son, Warren JENKINS, Springfield. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Deda MOORE, Springfield, and a brother, Charles JENKINS of Urbana.

JENKINS -- ST. PARIS NEWS-DISPATCH, Thurs 28 September 1939
A cerebral hemorrhage with which he was stricken Saturday night at his home in Piqua, ended fatally when Austin Clyde JENKINS, 65, died at 8:45 o'clock Monday night at Piqua Memorial Hospital.
Born in Christiansburg, October 28, 1873, he was the son of John and Martha FURROW JENKINS. As a very young man he went to Piqua to live and during the rest of his life had been employed as a wood worker by the J. A. Shade Lumber Co. there.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Katie JENKINS; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence CRAMER of Troy, and Mrs. Paul T.(? for the T.) WHITE of Columbus; three sons, Bernard and Belmont of Columbus, and Judson of Troy; a sister, Mrs. Guy SHIPLEY of St. Paris, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held today at 2:00 p.m. at a Piqua funeral home followed by burial in Forest Hill cemetery.

JENKINS -- ST. PARIS NEWS-DISPATCH, Thurs 18 March 1926
Bert PROCTOR and family attended the funeral of his grandmother, Mrs. Martha JENKINS in Piqua, Friday.
Mrs. JENKINS passed away on Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arch McKINEY, with whom she had been spending the winter. She was 85 years of age and the widow of John JENKINS . The greater part of her life had been spent in the vicinity of Christiansburg.
She is survived by two sons, Judson JENKINS of Christiansburg, Austin JENKINS of Columbus; two daughters, Mrs. Guy SHIPLEY of Thackery, and Mrs. Arch McKINNEY of Piqua. Eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren also survive. Burial was made a Manuel cemetery near Grange Hall.

JENKINS -- ST. PARIS NEWS-DISPATCH, Thurs.15 August 1918
A stroke of appoplexey caused the death of John JENKINS at his home in Thackery last Saturday. Funeral services were held Monday from the Emanuel church and interment was made in cemetery there.
Mr. JENKINS was born April 14th, 1837 in Clark county and is the last member of the family of Wiley JENKINS. He was a retired farmer and had spent almost all his life in the vicinity of Grange Hall.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters and two sons. The children are Mrs. Guy SHIPLEY, Mrs. Frank PROCTER and Judson JENKINS of Thackery.

JENKINS -- ST. PARIS NEWS-DISPATCH, Thurs. 7 Oct 1926, pg 1
Mary E. JENKINS died at her home one and one-half miles east of Christiansburg OH, Wednesday morning Sept. 22. She was 81 years of age. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. James MUMFORD of Troy, OH; one son, Willie JENKINS of Christiansburg. The funeral was held from the home of the son, Friday morning at 9:30. Burial was made in Emanuel cemetery near Grange hall by Bert Richeson, undertaker.

JENKINS, Russell P. – Urbana Daily Citizen, Friday, 15 January 2010

Russell P. Jenkins, age 79, of 10988 Archer Street, Rosewood, Ohio passed away January 12, 2010, at 5:19 p.m. at the University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He was born September 1, 1930 in Quincy, to the late Laurel and Goldie (Curtis) Jenkins

Russell married Bessie (Penley) Jenkins on October 19, 1952 and she survives.

He is survived by sons: Richard (Teresa) Jenkins of Springfield, and Jeffery (Tina) Jenkins of St. Paris, daughter; Cathy (Mark) Brandyberry of Urbana, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, brothers; Kenny (Marilyn) Jenkins of Washington Court House, Ohio and Marvin (Kathy) Jenkins of Columbus, Ohio.

One sister and three brothers preceded him in death.

Russell proudly served in the U. S. Army. He was a life member of the VFW Post 7645.

He was a member of the Rosewood Church of Christ and Church of Christ in Christian Union Church in Urbana. Russell was a retired salesman.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the Rosedale Cemetery, Conover with full military honors, with the Rev. Peter Faville, officiating. There will be no calling hours.

All funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rosewood Church of Christ and/or the Church of Christ in Christian Union Church in Urbana.

Johnson, Marilyn Reeves – Urbana Daily Citizen, Friday, 30 November 2007

Marilyn (Reeves) Johnson, age 79, of Saint Paris passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy S. Reeves and Mae (Allen) Reeves, a brother, Alpheus O. Reeves and her husband of 53 years, Mark Emil Johnson. Survivors include her seven children, Eileen James of Urbana, Ellen Rohrer of Papua New Guinea, Joseph Johnson of Texas, John (Kathy) Johnson of Chillicothe, Darryl (Donna) Johnson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Laurie McNeely of Urbana and Diane (Dale) Hayes of Cincinnati, 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Marilyn graduated from Lawrenceville High School in 1945 as Salutatorian. She attended Wittenburg University, Springfield, Ohio and Cincinnati Bible College. She and Mark dig short-term missionary work in Curacao and England. She was a member of Piqua Church of Christ, where she enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She also enjoyed being a member of the Buck Creek Club. She raised seven children, and was very talented as an artist, musician and writer. She wrote a column for the Piqua Daily Call and Urbana Daily Citizen called “Letters from Home.” In 1995 she published a collection of her work. Visitation will be Saturday, December 1 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Atkins-Shively Funeral Home, 216 S. Springfield St., St. Paris. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 2 at 1:00 pm. at the Piqua Church of Christ, 3969 W. St. Rt. 185, Piqua, Ohio with burial following at Evergreen Cemetery in St. Paris. A dinner for all friends and family will be served at noon on Sunday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Pioneer Bible Translators, C/O Sue Rohrer, 3926 Firehouse Road, Buckingham, VA 23921. Envelopes will be available in the funeral home.

Jones, Gavin William Pearson – Urbana Daily Citizen, Tuesday, 4 December 2007

Gavin William Pearson Jones, 20, 1350 N. Elm Tree Road, St. Paris, Ohio, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 at 5:20 a.m. on U. S. Route 36 in Fletcher as the result of an automobile accident.

He was born on May 14, 1987 in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Gary Jones of Sidney and Robin (Osborne) Byers of St. Paris who survive, along with step-father Jason Byers and step-mother Laurie Jones. Also surviving are sisters Julia Jones and husband Taylor Wyman of Pittsburg, Pa., and Jennifer Jones of Fairborn, Ohio; brother Daniel Byers of St. Paris, Ohio; paternal grandmother Evelyn Jones; maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Bill Osborne, all of Sidney; and step-grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Terry Byers of Covington, Ohio.

Gavin was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alvin Jones.

Mr. Jones was a 2005 graduate of Graham High School and was employed by Johnson Welded Products in Urbana as a supervisor.

Gavin enjoyed spending time trap shooting, and playing basketball and lifting weights at the YMCA with his friends. He was a light-hearted young man who enjoyed making people laugh. Gavin will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

Funeral services will held Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Full Gospel Community Church of God with Rev. Charles Jarrett officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney, Ohio.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney.

JORDAN -- ST. PARIS NEWS-DISPATCH, Thurs. April 22, 1943
B. Franklin JORDAN, 82, died at 11 a. m. Sunday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. C. O. YOUNG in Piqua. Mr. JORDAN had been in failing health for the past three years and until a few years ago resided in St. Paris.
He is survived by the daughter, Mrs. YOUNG; two sons, Norris of St. Paris and Louis F. of Peoria, Ill., a brother, William of Rosewood, a sister Mrs. Hattie McDARGH or Urbana; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon in Piqua with burial in Forest Hill cemetery.

Journell, Lena Strickland - Urbana Daily Citizen, Tuesday, 13 March 2007

Lena Journell, aged 95 of Urbana, passed away Friday, March 9, 2007 at Mary Rutan Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson T. Journell; her daughter Sue Chamberlain; parents Perry L. Sr. and Pearl (nee Robinson) Strickland; brothers George and Woodrow Strickland; sisters Ruth Byram and Betty Hill. She is survived by her son Thomas and wife Carol Journell of Grove City; son-in-law Kenneth Chamberlain of Westville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brother Perry L. Jr. and wife Jean of Springfield; sister Raymajean Hall of Winter Park, Fla; sisters-in-law Mary Strickland of Franklin, Ind., and Florence Strickland of Urbana, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Lena was a 1929 graduate of Rosewood High School.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a 4-H adviser. Lena was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 3930 New Carlisle Pike, Springfield, Ohio, with Pastor Richard McDaniel officiating.

Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service. Interment at Rosedale Cemetery. Marion JULIU, a one-armed soldier and formerly of St. Paris, died at Troy Wednesday.
