Searching any information on FRANK E. SCHULTZ or his brother JOE SCHULTZ of Schuyler 1875- to date. From Bohemia, the name was originally spelled SULC. Frank (Frantisek?) came about 1875. Family stories have it that he joined his grandparents in Schuyler who ran a meat market there. Which grandparents? There may have been a sister named Josephine. Frank is also thought to have gone to school in Lincoln. Frank died in Iowa in 1924 and his obit lists a brother Joe in Clarkson. Any help most appreciated.

I am looking for any information on Joseph R. BURESH and his family. I think he may have been a farmer in Colfax Co., possibly near Schuyler during the late 1800's and early 1900's. His parents Joseph and Anna BURESH (my great grand parents) may have lived in the area also. If anyone has any information to share, please contact me. Thanks for any help.

Seeking any information on the family of SAAFELDT/SAAFIELD who lived in the area of Rogers and Schuyler. I have a 2-3 generation file on them, though they are not part of my line. Looking for a link with this line and mine, Theresa SAAFELDT FILLMER/FOELLMER who lived in Cuming County, NE. Name is too rare not to be connected at some point. Thanks and would love to hear from others interested in this line.

I am researching two black families: JOHNSON/WHITEHALL. I have some information. I believe that the Johnson family (James JOHNSON & Elvira BANKHEAD-seven children) came from Livingston County Missouri via Kansas, then settled in Colfax County prior to 1870. They were farmers. They owned a farm near Schuyler, possibly in Wilson or Shell Creek districts. They later lived in Schuyler. The WHITEHALL (Miles WHITEHALL & Harriet WATSON-11 children) family moved from Chillicothe, Livingston, Missouri to Colfax County possibly around 1880. They owned a farm in Shell Creek District, later moving to Schuyler. Some of the children made a living as broom makers. Miles was a civil war vet. Any assistance that you can give would be appreciated.

I am interested in information on the Henry J. and Mary BROWNING family of Nebraska. Henry and Mary are my wife's great grandparents. Family records indicate that they migrated to NE in 1870 and settled on a farm some 5 miles north of Schuyler. When Henry's health failed (year unknown), they moved to David City. Henry is said to have been born in Boston, MA (date unknown) and Mary in Salt Lake City, UT on 10 Aug 1848. They reportedly had 8 children - George (b.1870), Bert, Gladys, James, John Aaron, Ollie Edward, Lottie (b. 1888), and Albert (b. 1892). Both Henry and Mary died in David City. Henry died first (date unknown) and Mary died 24 April 1944. Both are buried at the St. Mary's cemetery.

Searching for ancestors and descendants of John CERNIN and Anna PELC (immigrated to the U.S. through the port of New York in 1882.) In 1882 they had a son named John who had been born in Vysoki, Myto, Bohemia, Austria. They left through Bremen, Germany. They had a son, Joseph, in 1883 who was born in Colfax Co. The Cernins had 7 children before they were divorced. The children's names were: Anna (married Alois MOLACEK), John (married Lucy JURA), Joseph (married Emma ZVACEK), James (died before 1951), Marie (married Frank PACAS), Emily (died as child), Frances (married John JURA) and Frank (unmarried/died before 1951). Mrs. Anna Cernin remarried in September 1899 to Jan KOUDELKA in Colfax Co. Jan Koudelka and Anna Cernin had a daughter named Paulina who was my grandmother. I would like information regarding the families of both marriages by Anna Pelc. Little is known of her marriage to Jan KOUDELKA. It is believed that their daughter Paulina, born July 30, 1900, may have been born after Jan Koudelka's death. Anna Koudelka and Paulina used the CERNIN surname on Paulina's church marriage records in 1916 at Wilson Church to my grandfather, Josef VELTRUSKY. My mother, Mary Veltrusky (Marie WELTRUSKI), was baptized in Wilson Catholic Church in 1924. Pauline VELTRUSKY gives her maiden name as Paulina CERNIN on my mother's baptismal records, also. On Pauline Weltruski's obituary in 1951 it gives her name as Pauline KOUDELKA...the daughter of John and Anna Koudelka. It says that Pauline is survived by 2 half brothers and 3 half sisters (Cernins) and was preceded in death by 2 half brothers and 1 half sister (Cernins). Anna CERNIN/KOUDELKA died in July 1924. Paulina and Josef VELTRUSKY moved west to St. Edward, NE (Boone Co. in 1934)...having lived near Wilson Church, Leigh, and Newman Grove before purchasing a farm in Boone Co. The VELTRUSKY family changed their surname to WELTRUSKY -- Joseph F. Weltruski and Pauline H. Weltruski. They had several 7 children: Frank and Joseph (twins), Libby, Milo, Marie, Mildred and John. John died at birth. Would appreciate information on the CERNIN and KOUDELKA surnames.

Josef and Frantiska SEMERAD arrived in America with their children Anton (my grandmother's father) and Agnes (she married John BOBISUD) in 1881. They bought a farm southeast of Dodge, NE, in the Tabor neighborhood and had the following children: Mary (she married Frank BRICHACEK), Bessie (she married Amos DOSTAL), Joseph (he married Mary BUDIN), and Rose (never married). Currently, I am trying to research the descendants of these children. My grandfather's father Karel (Charles) ONDRACEK came to American in 1903, and worked his way west. He worked at the Schuyler Mill for three years until he could afford to send for the rest of his family: parents Karl and Barbora ONDRACEK, and siblings Anton, Antonia, Rudolph, Mary, John, and Stanley. I am researching Charles' siblings and their descendants.

I am interested in obtaining a death certificate of my Great Grandmother, Marian TUBBS SHERMAN. She died 4th of July, 1886 and was buried on the 6th of July in Leigh, Colfax County, Nebraska. Records I have indicate she was born 20 September 1830 in Cayuga County, New York. I need to know what the stipulations are according to the state of Nebraska to do this and the cost involved. Records that I have been able to obtain indicate you have only one funeral home in Leigh. Were they in existence at her time of death? Am attempting to trace my family genealogy and would appreciate any information you have that might help me in the process. Thank you.
