Dinwiddie County & Historic Blandford Cemetery, Virginia

Dinwiddie County has produced and served as the final resting place for numerous influential statesmen, legislators, and national
leaders who shaped local, state, and American history. Because early leaders were frequently interred in private family burial
grounds across rural plantation estates rather than large civic cemeteries, many of these gravesites are easily overlooked in
national databases.
Prior to Petersburg's incorporation as an independent city in 1850,
Blandford Cemetery operated within historic Bristol Parish in Dinwiddie County, making it the resting place for
generations of Dinwiddie families and public servants. This collection brings together documented political burials across both
rural Dinwiddie County and historic Blandford Cemetery.
