• Kingston – Circa 1797 This two-story dwelling reflected both the architectural sensibilities and permanence of late 18th-century Virginia homesteads.
• Mansfield – Circa 1750 Georgian-style plantation home near Petersburg, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
• Sysonby - An eighteenth-century Atkinson family plantation home overlooking the Appomattox River.
• Wales – An exceptionally preserved 18th-century plantation house in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, begun ca. 1730 by Captain Howell Briggs and expanded ca. 1752 into a rare five-part form with unique half-hip roofed wings. Home to Burgess Gray Briggs, it showcases refined colonial craftsmanship and enduring Southside architectural distinction.
• Winona-Powell – A historic 1825 home in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, built by Dr. John Field on a scenic hill. Rich in Civil War history and surrounded by natural springs and heritage trees, the estate reflects early craftsmanship and enduring family legacy.

• Old Homes of Dinwiddie from "The Countrey of the Apamatica"
• A Survey of Historic Architecture In Dinwiddie County, Virginia — In 2009, 3north Architects conducted a reconnaissance-level survey of 162 properties across Dinwiddie County, Virginia. This was the county’s first professional effort to catalog its diverse historic resources. The survey highlighted buildings and sites predominantly from the Reconstruction and Growth era (1866–1916).
• Plantation Houses Around Petersburg in the Counties of Prince George, Chesterfield and Dinwiddie, Virginia strong>by Edward A. Wyatt, IV (1955). Reprinted from articles in The Petersburg Progress-Index. In his foreword, Wyatt describes this as “a partial inventory of the surviving plantation houses (with a few churches and sites) in the vicinity of Petersburg” that stand out for their history, architecture, or both. He deliberately keeps the accounts brief—resisting deep dives into biography or chains of title—to spark further interest rather than claim final authority. Drawing from county records, old insurance policies, newspapers, and other sources, Wyatt highlights both well-known estates and overlooked smaller or nineteenth-century homes, offering glimpses into vanished ways of life in Southside Virginia’s classic plantation country.
