2026 Digital Preservation & Recovery Project:

When Ancestry migrated and made "read only" the legacy RootsWeb platform, which was the host site for the Dinwiddie County, Virginia USGenWeb pages, some early pre-2006 USGenWeb transcriptions were not transferred to modern servers and became unavailable to researchers. As part of our Dinwiddie County USGenWeb Record Recovery Project, we are actively recovering and republishing these lost resources into our updated local repository.

Special Thanks: We extend our sincere gratitude to former County Coordinator Carol A. Morrison (Fayetteville, NC) for initiating this massive transcription effort and making the initial records available online. Carol completed transcriptions for the first five years of interments (1843 through 1847).

Catherine Cogbill Square at Blandford

To reach the Square from the Cemetery Office area on Rochelle Lane, proceed east to the stop sign, continue straight onto Columbian Avenue, and follow it to the intersection with Jackson Avenue. Turn right onto Jackson Avenue and stop just before the crest of the hill near the tree (noted on the Blandford Map near the "so" in "Jackson"). From this vantage point, only the backs of the headstones are visible, and the car seen in the reference photos will be parked along Jackson Avenue.

Interred: Catherine S. Cogbill, daughter of Richard Burton and wife of William Cogbill of Chesterfield County, Virginia.
