JACOBY, JAMES -
One of my many times removed grandfathers came from, according to a written family history, a German Immigrant names Mathias Jacoby, from Bedford County Virginia. This Jacoby had a son who apparently had a changed name to John James; with his son being called John James, Sr. (the date of his birth 1778/1779) The family of John James Sr is shown to have left Virginia for Pike County Ohio in 1803., and lived an prospered there; thence spreading outward, like the typical American story.
I am requesting a suggestion for local books which might have names of this family during the early days of the colonies. It is also possible that either Jacoby or James were involved in the Revolutionary War effort, although, on which side I do not know.
If you could be so kind as to refer me to any resources that you have, I would be most grateful
