CAHILL, Margie V., 58, of Roanoke, passed away
Friday, May 8, 1998 at her home after fighting a long battle with cancer.
She was a graduate of Check High School in Floyd Co. She was also a
graduate of James Madison College of which she earned her B.S. Degree in
Home Economics. She worked one year for Potmac Edison Electric Company in
Maryland. Coming back to Virginia, she was employed by American Electric
Power of Roanoke where she worked for 35 years. She was preceded in death
by her grandparents, John Henry and Pallie Vest and Winfield and
Fannie West. She leaves to cherish her memory parents, High and
Dorothy Vest, Check; one brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Sharon
Bolinski Vest, Roanoke; one sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and
J.C. Wimmer Jr., Check; three nephews, Jonathan and Pamela Nichols Vest,
Check, Eric Vest, Roanoke, Travis Wimmer, Check; three
nieces, Amy Vest, Richmond, Jessica Vest, Fredericksburg
attending Mary Washington College, Jennifer Wimmer, Blacksburg
attending VPI & SU; one great-nephew, Tristan Vest, Check. She
also leaves cousins, aunts, unlces, and a host of many many friends.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 1998 at Gardner Funeral
Home with the Rev. William Davis Jr. pastor of Central United Methodist
Church, Salem, Elbert Lee Naff and the Rev. Lane Spinger both pastors of
Stonewall United Methodist & Brethren Church, Floyd. Interment will
follow in Samuel L. Vest Family Cemetery, Check. The family will
receive friends Sunday, May 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel.
Friends may call anytime Monday at Gardner Funeral home where the family
will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Flowers or memorials will be accepted. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be given to the Central United Methodist Church,
Salem.

world peacefully on March 30, 2007 at the age of 89. He was born September
30, 1917 in Floyd County, Virginia, to
John Henry and Agranda Palentine
"Pallie" (Tice) Vest.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers:
Edgar, Letcher, Wade, Lewis and Ralph Vest; his sisters, Flossie Wright,
Essie Sisson, and Susie Sweeney; his daughter, Margie L. Cahill,
and his beloved wife of 69 years, Dorothy.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Roger E.
and Sharon Vest; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy L. and J.
C. Wimmer Jr.; grandchildren, Jonathan Vest and wife, Pamela,
Amy Vest, Eric Vest and wife, Margie, Jessica Vest
Lewis and husband, Michael, Travis Wimmer, and Jennifer Wimmer
; three great-grandchildren, Tristan, Paxton, and Jackson Vest; a
brother, Horace D. Vest; three sisters: Audrey Lee, Allene Sweeney,
and Allie Vest; three sisters-in-law: Irene Vest, Marie West,
and Mae Dobbins and husband, Carl.
Funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 3,
at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dan Walker officiating.
Interment followed in the
Samuel L. Vest Family Cemetery, Check.

On Sunday morning, May 13, 2007, Clay Vest
peacefully passed away at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Zion,
Illinois in the presence of his family. He was preceded in death by his
mother, Aberdeen Vest. Survivors include his loving wife, Ellen Bennett
Vest; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Chris Brevard;
father, Horace Vest; sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Maurice Quesenberry;
brothers and sisters-in-law, Tim and Gennell Vest, Doug and Angie Vest;
mother-in-law, Thelma Lucas; father-in-law, William Bennett;
aunts and uncles, Marshall and Judy McNeil, Alfred McNeil,
Buddy and Vivian Dickerson, Allene Sweeney, Audrey Lee, Allie
Vest, Bertha Sassaman; nephews, Marc Quesenberry,
Matthew Vest, Mitchell Nolen; nieces, Megan Quesenberry,
Michelle Quesenberry, Charity Nolen, Hannah Vest; two
life long friends, Wayne Goff (the 2nd friend?). Clay
loved the Lord and his church family at Floyd Baptist Church where he
served as a deacon. He was a loving husband, father and friend. He enjoyed
reading the Bible. He loved farming and the outdoors, with a passion for
tractors and equipment. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday,
May 18, 2007 at Floyd Baptist Church with Dr. Dave Holladay, Pastor Dan
Walker and the Rev. Dan Agee officiating. Interment will follow at Samuel
L. Vest Cemetery. Friends may call after 8:30 a.m. on Thursday at
Gardner Funeral Home, where the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of
flowers, Clay requested that donations be made to Floyd Baptist Church, PO
Box 58, Floyd, Va. 24091, or to the Medical Charities of Floyd County for
cancer patients and their families, 100 E. Main St. Room 108, Floyd, Va.
24091. Arrangements are being handled by Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd.
