Elvin E. Ingram, 88 of
Floyd, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2020. Elvin was born to George J.
& Doris Thomas Ingram on January 14, 1932.
He served in the United States Army for two years from 1952 to 1954 and
then worked with his daddy and mother on the farm and business they owned
together. He was a member of the Stonewall Church of the Brethren. He was
on the CTC Board of Directors and had an Honorary State Farmer Degree.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ruth Ingram; sons &
daughters-in-law, David W. Ingram, Sr. & Teresa, and Robert L. Ingram
& Amy; grandchildren, David W. Ingram, Jr. & Brandi, Kassie Landes &
Tyler, and Jordan Levi Ingram; five great-grandchildren, Rafe Joseph,
Limary Ann, and Tripp Lane Ingram, Lillian Grayce Belcher, and Theodore
Trent Landes; in-laws, Paul Vest, Charles & Loretta Vest, James &
Katie Vest, Dorothy V. Janney, Marie & Bill Thomas, and Penny Vest; and
several nieces & nephews.
A private graveside service was held in the Jacksonville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the
Stonewall Church, Building Fund, c/o Marie V. Thomas, 536 Poor Farm Road
SE, Floyd, VA 24091. The family would like to extend a special thank you to
Skyline Nursing Home for their care that was given.

INGRAM, George Joseph, 87, of
Floyd passed away Wednesday, March 17, 1999 at his home. He was a member of
the Red Oak Grove Church of The Brethren and was a well known merchant and
farmer, having served his friends and neighbors in the mercantile business
for over 65 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eslie T. and
Della B. Ingram; two brothers, Uriah T. Ingram and Nelson B. Ingram; three
sisters, Bessie I. Nichols, Cassie I. Lawrence and Dorothy I. Shelor.
Survivors, a devoted wife of 67 years, Doris Thomas Ingram of Floyd; son
and daughter-in-law, Elvin E. and Ruth V. Ingram of Floyd; two grandsons
and wives, David W. and Teresa M. Ingram, Robert L. and Amy J. Ingram of
Floyd; one great-grandson, David Wayne Ingram, Jr.; one great
granddaughter, Kassie E. Ingram; two sisters, Mary I. Vest of Copper Hill,
Myra I. Peters of Floyd; one foster sister and husband, Mildred and Melvin
Nolen of Floyd; one sister-in-law, Gladys R. Ingram of Roanoke; several
nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.
Saturday at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Elbert Lee Naff and
Rev. Roy U. Turpin officiating. Music and singing will be provided by the
Red Oak Grove Choir. Burial will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery. The
family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be
sent to the Red Oak Grove Church of The Brethren, 775 Red Oak Grove Road,
Floyd, Va. 24091.

Ingram, 96, of Floyd, VA, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2010, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, George Joseph Ingram;
by her parents, Marquis D. & Minnie S. Thomas; by five sisters, Lila
Brogan, Alma Tredinnick and Marion Burke, all of Roanoke, Annie Trail, of
Floyd, and Erma Woodburn, of Florida; and by her brother, Shirley Thomas,
of Roanoke. Surviving are her son & daughter-in-law, Elvin E. &
Ruth V. Ingram; two grandsons & wives, David W. & Teresa M. Ingram,
and Robert L. & Amy J. Ingram; also two great-grandsons, David Wayne
Jr. & wife, Brandi, and Jordan Levi; one great-granddaughter, Kassie
Elaine Ingram; one sister, Jessica McCall, of Georgia; one sister-in-law,
Myra Peters, of Floyd; one foster brother-in-law, Marvin Nolen, of Floyd; a
number of nieces and nephews also survive; two very special friends, Elbert
Lee and Nancy Naff, of Pilot; and caregivers, Betty Yopp, Laura West,
Dulinda Bender, Peggy Howell, and Delta Dawn Sowers. She was a member of
the Red Oak Grove Church of the Brethren. She worked side by side with her
husband in their "General Store" for over 50 years. She was also
a homemaker. Funeral services will held 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, 2010, at
the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Elbert Lee Naff and the Rev.
Roy Turpin officiating. Burial will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 22,
2010, at Maberry Funeral Home. Flowers will be appreciated

JAMES, Rev. Walter Jesse,
98, of Floyd, passed away Thursday, September 15, 1994, a t the V.A.
Medical Center in Salem. He was the son of William Elkaney and Elmira
Thomas James, one of eight children, a veteran of World War I, recipient of
the Purple Heart, Coal Miner for thirty five years and retired farmer. He
was also an ordained Baptist Minister. He was preceded in death by his
wife, Madeline Wood James; daughter, Marjorie James, and a son, Walter
Edward James, who died in World War II. Survivors include two daughters and
sons-in-law, Janice and Linwood Hicks, Maebelle and C. R. Wood, both of
Floyd; one son and daughter-in-law, Marshall K. and Darnell James, Roanoke;
two sisters and brother-in-law, Flora and Earl Nolen, Chole Peters, both of
Floyd; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; five
great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services
will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.
Elbert Lee Naff officiating. Burial will be in Jacksonville cemetery with
full Military Honors by Hillsville VFW Post #1115. The family will receive friends
from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Maberry Funeral Home.

brothers, Silas Janney, Dayton, Ohio, Jasper Janney, Hillsville; four
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Oakey's South Chapel, 2 p.m. Sunday, with
Dr. Woodrow W. Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville

husband, Harley "Rocky" Janney; two daughters, Ruth Jeanette

brother, Brown Pratt. She is survived by one daughter, Vera J. Borell,
Vinton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin H. Janney and wife, Jodi,
Stoneville, North Carolina, Leonard I. Janney and wife, Pam of Salem; four
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; her sister, Lois Gibbs, Floyd;
and two brothers, Lawrence Pratt of Floyd and Otis E. Pratt of
Christiansburg. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, December
4, 2000 at Oakey's South Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Etheridge officiating.
Burial will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery, Floyd. In lieu of flowers, the
family requests memorials be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 3825 Electric
Road, S.W., Suite A, Roanoke, Virginia 24018. The family will receive
friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel.

NEWPORT NEWS - Harold Lee
Johnson, 87, died Saturday, July, 12, 2003. He was a native of Newport
News, Va.
He retired from NASA as a mechanical engineer. Harold was a member of
Hidenwood Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mary Willson Johnson.
Survivors include a son, Lee Johnson and his wife, Sally, of Floyd, Va.; a
brother, Bobby Johnson and his wife, Anne, of Newport News, Va.; a
granddaughter, Priscilla Johnson of Shreveport, La.; and a nephew, Gary
Johnson and his wife, Georgianne, of Newport News, Va.
A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at
Hidenwood Presbyterian Church Chapel by the Rev. Augusta B. Vanderbilt.
Burial will be in Floyd, Va.

Austin Hunter Johnston, of Hillsville, precious son of
Rusty and Mitzi Johnson, born March 20, 2000, passed away Monday, March 11,
2002.
Other survivors include his maternal grandparents, James and Ruth Weeks of
Floyd; paternal grandparents, Charles and Yvonne Johnston of Hillsville;
aunts and uncles include Debbie and Jeff Reed, Monica and Greg Goad of
Floyd, Yvette and Mark Ryan of Austinsville; cousins include Daniel and
Jennifer Bishop, Skyler Goad of Floyd, Matthew Reed of Fredericksburg,
Nikki, Sean and Megan Ryan of Austinsville, Joshua Stone of Laurel Fork;
his God mother, Delta Sowers of Floyd; special baby-sitter, Julia Dickerson
of Hillsville.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Maberry Funeral Home
Chapel, Floyd with the Rev. Nathan Phillips officiating. Burial will follow
in Jacksonville Cemetery, Floyd. The family will receive friends from 6 to
8 p.m. Wednesday at the Maberry Funeral Home.

Spring Hill, Fla.; Roberteen Slusher, Dearborn, Mich.; six grandchildren;
four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday
at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Sage officiating. Burial will
be in Jacksonville Cemetery with graveside services by Hillsville V.F.W.
