Darwin SHONG, of the country, is spending the week
with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. SHONG.
Miss Frances LANTZ came home from Ney last Friday,
where she spent several weeks in the home of her sister, Mrs. Geo. BAKER.

OBITUARIES

Mother of J. J. LANGDON Dies

Mrs. Lucy (TODD) HENDERSON, 69, former Sherwood resident, died at her home in Springfield, Ohio, last Friday morning, July 20th. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack TODD.  She is survived by her husband, C. A. HENDERSON, and two sons, John J. LANGDON of Sherwood, and Clyde LANGDON of Piqua, Ohio. Funeral services were held at Independence Church, 4 miles east of Defiance, at 2 p.m. Monday, with Rev. A. M. LUNG, pastorof the Methodist Church here, officiating. Burial in Independence cemetery.

Joseph SISCO Dies Suddenly

Joseph SISCO, a prominent farmer, died suddenly Wednesday evening at his home northeast of town in Delaware township. Mr. SISCO had eaten a hearty supper and seemed as well as usual, when he suddenly passed away, having suffered a stroke. Funeral services were announced for Saturday morning at 9 o'clock from Marysdale Church. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. FULLER, undertakers in charge.

Death Claims Sisters

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Elizabeth DIRR, 77, wife of Andrew DIRR, who died last Thursday morning at her home near New Bavaria. Mrs. DIRR was born near Sherwood, and was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth FRAKER. Relatives from here attended the rites.

Mrs Anna HOFFMAN, 73, widow of Andrew HOFFMAN, died Wednesday at 8 a.m. at her home in Pleasant township, Henry county, with heart attack a few days after the burial Saturday (of) Mrs. Elizabeth DIRR, also of Pleasant township. Mrs HOFFMAN was born in Sherwood, April 28, 1861, a daughter of John and Elizabeth FRAKER. Funeral serviceswill be held this Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Emanuel Reformed church near New Bavaria.

SHADY NOOK NEWS

Mr. and Mrs. Carl BOFF attended the funeral of Jake SINGER in Defiance saturday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd MICK and Walter were guests Wednesday evening in the Chas. TUTTLE home near Defiance.
Mrs. Chas. GUILFORD and guest, mrs. HEFFELFINGER were guests of Mrs. Alice WHEATON in Sherwood Wednesday.
Dr.WINN of Defiance purchased the Samps CROYLE 40 acres one day last week, consideration $3,500.

MUD CREEK AVENUE NEWS

Mrs. J. L. BAYLISS spent from Friday till Monday afternoon with Mrs. Martha BAYLISS. Mrs. Elva BURK from Ney also spent Sunday and Monday with her. Other callers were Alva LaVERGNE and wife, Joe SISCO's, and F. MOTHERSPAUGH.

A large number from this community attended the Memorial services of the late Fred DUNAKIN at the Sherwood Park, Sunday.

Those from this community who attended the funeral of Mrs. Chas HENDERSON Monday at Independence were Earl CRAWFORD and wife, Alex JOHNSON and wife, Mrs. A. LORAH, Mrs. F. MOTHERSPAUGH, Mrs Kate PORATH, Mrs. Alfred SNYDER, Douglas MOATS and wife, Arthur SPROW and wife, Charles ENGLISH and wife and Barbara Jean RINGLE, Charles SMITH and wife, and sons Barevias and Clarence; also Mrs. John CLAY from Hillsdale, Mich., Joe SISCO and wife and Joe SHEETS, also Alva LaVERGNE and wife, Jay BAYLISS and wife, Leland SMITH and wife, Wesley BAKER and wife. All these were at one time residents of this community in former years.

Mrs. Henry BREININGER and daughters Marie and Martha spent Monday afternoon with Mrs. O. P. URMSTON.
