GRIFFITH:
I would like to find descendants of the following couple: GRIFFITH Hoglah and her husband GRIFFITH Thomas who were residents of Newcastle under Lyme until they emigrated to New Jersey in 1886 and lived in Hamilton Township, Mercer County. They had the following children. Cecil, William (apparently died young), Annie, Jemima, and Ethel. Ethel married Lyman BURBANK and Annie produced a son called Lyman WOODRUFF. Thomas GRIFFITH was a plate maker in Stoke and a Sanitary presser in Trenton. Last record is 1930 census for Trenton City Mercer Township showing Thomas as 77 and Hoglah as 74. Hoglah was the 13th of 14 children born to John MASON and his wife Sarah (nee SLATER). The MASON line has been traced back to the mid 1500's and the SLATER line back to around 1600. I am very anxious to get the death/burial date for Hoglah and it would be nice to have Thomas GRIFFITH's too. If anyone has any interest in this family or knows someone in New Jersey with this name please ask them to contact me.

HARTMAN:
In search of the John P. HARTMAN family of Trenton City. He married Josephine "Jo" BAECHNER HARTMAN in 1883 and they had 8 children. Only 3 were still living in 1900. The daughter Lillian married John TROCHENBROD and the daughter Ethel married Arthur POOLE. The 1900 census shows that Josephine's father, George M. BAECHNER had moved in with them after being widowed. Josephine was killed in a car accident. Someone in the family was a potterer.

HERBERT:
I am currently researching my direct HERBERT line which appears to have been in Hightstown in the late 1700's. The earliest HERBERT that I am positive of is James HERBERT, who I believe was born approximately 1765. He definitely had a sister names Sarah HERBERT, born January 20, 1772. She married Daniel HENDRICKSON while still in New Jersey. Coincidentally, James HERBERT married Daniel HENDRICKSON's sister, ALSO named Sarah. Both Daniel & Sarah (HENDRICKSON) are the children of Oke HENDRICKSON, whom seems to be well documented in that area prior to moving to Lewis County, Kentucky. My direct ancestor, James HERBERT moved with the HENDRICKSON's to Lewis County, Kentucky, approximately 1795, and then he went on to Clermont County, Ohio, sometime after 1810. He died there in 1822. Prior to his death, he also witnessed a will in 1817 of Obediah HERBERT. I am quite sure that Obediah was a family member, but whether he was a brother, father, etc I do not know. So the family members I am sure of, are James, born approximately 1765, Sarah born approximately 1772 and apparently Obediah, birth date unknown. James also definitely had children born in New Jersey, Mary in 1794 and William in 1796. There are other children but I am not sure if they were born in New Jersey, Betsy, Forman and Rebeccah. I am hoping you can help me find out more about my family in New Jersey. Who is James' father and mother? Etc... I am looking forward to hearing from you!

"1870 US Fed Census Trenton Wd 7, Mercer, NJ James Curley 29 1841 Ire Mary Curley 25 Michael Curley 4 Mary Curley 1m". "1875 -- Ref # Groom Bride Loc Place of Reg Marriage Date Cost Remove Bk. LEAR / LEARD:
I have begun research on my paternal grandparents. Daniel J. LEAR was born (3/26/1880) in Bucks County, PA, but resided in Princeton where my father was born in 1919. My grandmother is from New Jersey, and I am assuming Mercer County and possibly West Windsor. Her name was Henrietta WOOD. I believe she has a sister, Louisa, and became Louisa MCGANN. I have found links to an Elizabeth WOOD from West Windsor with also a son, William WOOD, but not fully sure it is the correct family. When my father was born in 1919 the last name was accidently changed from LEAR to LEARD, and I was born in 1956 Diane LEARD. I am eager for any information or fellow researchers that I can come across. Daniel J. LEAR 3/26/1880 to 3/??/1951. Henrietta WOOD ?/??/1887 to 3/??/1946.

SOUTH, ZANCA:
My family lived in Trenton in the 1930's to 1950's and I am trying to get more information concerning my biological father, Harry SOUTH Junior. He was married to my mother, Gloria Loretta ZANCA, September 6, 1947, at the Immaculate Conception Church (the name at that time). My biological father divorced and died about a year or two after I was born (Gloria Ann SOUTH 5 July 1948). I believe he is buried in Trenton probably 1950-1955. Subsequently my mother remarried to Leonard POWER and adoption papers were completed and my birth name was changed to Gloriann Maria POWER in 1959. I do not have the original birth certificate in the name of South nor do I have any of the adoption papers. I contacted New Jersey Bureau of Vital Statistics and Registration and submitted the forms and fees but they were returned saying I had insufficient information. I have tried the various ancestry sites and only one was successful (GeneologyBank) which had some issues of the Trenton Evening Times which had a couple of notes about Harry SOUTH (speeding ticket, hit & run, and engagement to my mother). Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

WATSON:
The 2005 GenForum postings indicate the NJ State DAR Headquarters is located in the oldest house in Mercer Co. which was built in 1708 by an Isaac WATSON, son of immigrant William WATSON who in 1684 came from Farsnfield, Nottinghamshire, ENG, to Philadelphia; sometime after that "bought 700 acres from the West Jersey Proprietors and settled a plantation and called the place Farnsfield in the township of Nottingham in the County of Burlington in the province of West Jersey". This was a Quaker family; believe a Thomas WATSON b. 1720-1725 who by 1769 was at Wrightsboro, GA, the southernmost Quaker settlement in the country, MAY have come out of this WATSON family, got to GA perhaps with a stop in Orange Co., NC. 2 sons and a grandson of this Thomas married COAT/COATES/COATS ladie (daughters of a James) possibly also out of the Quaker family of that name in and about that part of NJ/PA. Need comprehensive data on the earliest generations of this WATSON family to see if it contains a Thomas b. circa 1720-1725.
