Ajo -- James H. Copeland, 66, a former Ajo resident who reitred as a train engineer for Phelps Dodge Corp., died Jan. 28, 1981, in Fergu Lake, Calif. Mr. Copeland, of Martinez Lake, near Yuma, was born in Austin, Texas, and came to Arizona in 1938. He had been a member of the Ajo Elks Lodge and moved to Martinez Lake in 1976. Survivors include his wife, Gloria; sons, Don and Charles; a brother; a sister and three grandchildren. Services Tuesday at the Douglass Funeral Home in Ajo. Sunday, Feb. 1, 1981.

GRAY, Edna

Cryptside services for Edna R. Gray, 96, of 2300 W. Van BUren, who died Jan. 29, 1981, in Phoenix General Hospital, will be Monday at Greenwood Mausoleum, 2300 W. Van Buren. She was born in Mountain, PA, came here in 1949 from Pennsylvania, and was a member of the Missionary Society. Survivors include children, Mary McCullough and Paul; two sisters; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Sunday, Feb. 1, 1981.

Hargrave, 46, of Phoenix, who was a manager for Honeywell, Inc., 13 years, will be in the Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th St. Mr. Hargrave, who was born in Los Angeles and came here four years ago, died Jan. 27, 1981, at his home. Buckeye -- William H. "Bill" Jagow, 69, of Buckeye, who operated the Buckeye Taxicab Co. for 20 years, was dead on arrival Jan. 30, 1981, at Maryvale Samaritan Hospital, Phoenix. JOHNSON, George

George Johnson, 59, of 6514 W. Berkeley, who was a gardener for the Paradise Valley Country Club 24 years, died Jan. 29, 1981, at his home. He was born in Kentucky and was a World War II veteran. He came here 25 years ago from California. Surviving are children, Bonnie O'Conner, Sarah LaCompte, William and George; father, Sam Johnson; mother, Mrs. O. J. Mary W. Koth, 92, of N. 20th Ave., who was a registered nurse for St. Joseph's Hospital 18 years, died Jan. 27, 1981, at the hospital. Mrs. Koth, who came here from Massibee, Ohio, 28 years ago, was born in Uniontown, PA. Survivors include her husband, Owen; sons, Randy and Jeff; mother, Orpha Wagner; two sisters; a brother and a granddaughter. Hansen Mortuary arranged private services. Sunday, Feb. 1, 1981.

LaVELLE, William J.

Sun City -- William J. LaVelle, 81, who practiced law in Chicago after graduating from the Georgetown Law School, Washington, died Jan. 30, 1981, in Boswell Memorial Hospital. Mr. LaVelle, came here in 1970 from Lincolnwood, IN, and was a member of the Sun City Lawyers Club and Elks Club. Survivors include his wife, Catherine; children, Mary Hendricks and William, Jr.; and grandchildren. Scripture services at Menke Funeral Home. Yuma -- Memorial services for Pearl Manifold, 96, who was instrumental in organizing the first library and soliciting funds for the first airport in Yuma, will be Wednesday at Arizona Ruffner Funeral Home in Prescott. Mrs. Manifold, who was born in Marriesville, Arkansas, and came to Yuma in 1903, died Jan. 29, 1981, at the Arizona Pioneer's Home in Prescott. She moved there in 1976. She was a 56-year member of the Eastern Star and the Yuma Women's Club. She was a life member of the Y... Chamber of Commerce and the Yuma American Legion Auxiliary.
