FINEGAN, HIGGINS, SCANLAN posted by David Richards on Thursday, June 30, 2005

One branch of my family tree arrived in Schuyler in the 1870's and most had left between 1900 and 1910. The family names are FINEGAN, SCANLAN, and HIGGINS.The first family members in Colfax Co. were Patrick and Mary (nee Higgins) Finegan and John Scanlan and his brother Cornelius. If anyone is interested, I have gathered some information about their ancestors and descendants. I do not have a web site. I also have information on the siblings for the some of the generations.

DILDI, GELDER, LAUR, WILLIAMS posted by Jack Williams on Wednesday, January 2, 2008

Ottillia Anna LAUR, daughter of John Henry Laur and Kathryn DILDI. Ottillia was born about 1892 in Howells, Nebraska. She married Leo Lloyd Williams (b. 10 Oct 1890, Norfolk, NE) in Norfolk, Nebraska, on 10 Oct 1911. Source for this is: The State of Nebraska, Madison County, Office of the Judge, Marriage Record, Madison County, Nebraska (Source includes marriage Application, Marriage License and Certificate of Marriage). Marriage Application, license, and Certificate of Leo Lloyd WILLIAMS and Ottillia Anna Laur. I obtain this document from the Madison County Court House when I was visiting Norfolk in November 2007.

Leo was my paternal grandfather. Question is what happened to Ottillia? I have several pieces of correspondence from Leo to his sisters and grandmother (his mother died in 1912) between November 1911 and 1920 and there is no mention of Ottillia. Leo married my grandmother, Ethel Agnes Van GELDER, in New Jersey in 1919.

Can anyone help me find Ottillia? About a month ago I sent a request to the state for a death certificate and they came up empty. Is it possible she and Leo divorced or since there was no death record, could the marriage have been annulled. Ottillia was 20 years old at the time so I don’t think an annulment was it.
