I'd like to hear from anyone who knows anything more about this family.

DAVIS posted by Michael Allen Davis on Wednesday, December 19, 2001

My grandparents (Oscar and Mabel DAVIS) moved to Schuyler in June 1952. He died on August 12, 1954 following an accident where he had fallen from an electrical pole while changing cross arms on a farm line near the Tim Wacha home on East Ninth Street. (According to newspaper clipping from the Schuyler Sun.)

Grandma continued to call Schuyler her home until she moved to the care home in Nebraska City in 1991. She was active in the Schuyler Senior Center and was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. She died on October 2, 1993.

They are both buried in the Schuyler Cemetery. I would love to make contact with persons who knew them. Would especially like to learn more details of the accident in 1954, where Oscar fell from the electrical pole. Or would enjoy hearing from people, who knew either Mabel or Oscar. Sincerely, Michael Davis, Grandson of Oscar and Mabel Davis

MEFFERD, MEFFORD, MIFFERD, MIFFORD posted by Corey A. Ruff-Yarbour on Monday, April 29, 2002

I am searching for any documentation on: William G. Mefferd; Born: 20-Jun-1838 Bellefontaine, Logan County, Ohio; Married: Mary Cecil Bennett on: 27-Dec-1866 in Bellefontaine, Logan County, Ohio (have marriage certificate); Known to be in Colfax County between 1880 and 1890; Died; 28-Apr-1921 Petersburg, Boone County, Nebraska (I have yet to find his final resting place, or documentation of his death; would appreciate any help).

Descendants are fully documented. Known children were two sons: Earnest was a photographer in Nebraska; and Ira William. Ira and his Family History can be found in Ainsworth, Brown County, Nebraska.

Buried in Ainsworth are Williams wife; Mary; Ira and his first wife: Edna Marion Goodrich of Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa. Children of Ira and Edna’s include; Georgia May, Mildred Cecil, Helen Deloris, Ralph Leroy, Edith Louise (all buried at the Ainsworth IOOF Cemetery in Ainsworth; Ainsworth, Brown County, Nebraska), Marin Lyle (buried at: Rose Hills Memorial Park; Downey, Los Angeles, California; Marlin was my maternal Grandfather!) and Norman Frank (buried at: Salt Lake City Cemetery; Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah). I have dates and documentation on these people. Looking for more: newspaper clippings, photos, legal documentation, wills, and directories.

Supposed brother is James; Father could be: Gasper Mefferd of Champaign County, Ohio.

On the Marriage Certificate of Ralph Leroy Mefferd has listed as guardian: George A. Mefferd and Rosa (Bodeuhaumier?) Any Ideas?

SCHMITZ posted by Laraine Clark on Wednesday, May 1, 2002

In the 1880 census for Maple Creek, Colfax Co., NE I found the following family: Jacob SCHMITZ, age 40, born in Prussia. Wife is Marie Schmitz. Children are: Andrew Schmitz, age 8; Katherina Schmitz age 6; Peter Schmitz, age 4; and Clara Schmitz, age 2. Also in the household is Jacob's father, Andrew Schmitz, age 78, born in Prussia and Jacob's sister Marie Schmitz, age 38, born in Prussia.

I believe that Andrew Schmitz, aged 78 in 1880, was the same Andrew Schmitz as the brother of my Casper Schmitz. Andreas Schmitz was born in Meckenheim, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany on 2 Mar 1805. That would make him age 75 in 1880, so I am not certain for sure that this is the same guy.

In the 1856 and 1860 censuses in Clinton County, Iowa, Andrew Schmitz and wife Clara and children Jacob and Maria were neighbors to my Casper Schmitz and Theresa Bumann Schmitz. They are the only Schmitz families in the area at that time.

Does anyone have any information about this Schmitz family that might connect definitely connect him as being the Andrew Schmitz, brother of Casper Schmitz. Casper Schmitz died from head injuries suffered in an accident in the early 1860's in Clinton Co., IA. His widow, Theresa Bumann Schmitz, married 2nd to Karl Porth. They remained in Iowa.

JOHNSON, MORELL posted by Randy Johnson on Thursday, June 27, 2002

Seeking birth information or assistance of the John JOHNSON Family from Leigh. I have found them on the 1880 census. John Johnson married Anna MORELL from Oakland, Burt County and they had seven children: Victor (born 1878), Mabel (born January 1879), Lena (born September 17, 1880), Floyd (born 1882), Henry (born August 10, 1884), Guy (born December 1, 1885), and Mamie (born March 6, 1887). Some of the children may have been born in Box Butte County where Anna died in childbirth of her eighth child on March 1, 1888. I am not sure what type of records would have been kept back then so I'm not sure what I am looking for. I would like to confirm when they left Colfax County if possible. Also living with John was his mother Christina and two brothers Hans and Oliver. I believe they settled in Colfax County in 1872. Thank you.

SPIDLE, STEVENS posted by Zola (Stevens) DeLuca on Monday, July 29, 2002

Grandfather Charles Albert STEVENS; Grandmother Stella SPIDLE. Their children: Clyde, Albert, William (Bill), Chauncy (Channy), Roy (my father), Charles (Chuck), Gladys, and Edith (Babe). I've heard different stories as to where they came from. From England by way of Canada. They or their families owned a store of some kind. Also a gravel pitt or some kind of construction business. There is also a Lutheran minister somewhere.

Charles and Stella aka Mimi lived in Columbus and Schuyler, then moved to Oregon in the early forties. Albert, Bill, Channy, and my dad Roy, moved there also. Clyde lived in Grand Island and passed several years ago. My dad, Roy Albert, passed in 1975 at the age of 55. I would like to find anyone on my dad's side.
