In the name of God amen I Ambrose Gregory of the County of Mecklenburg and State of Virginia being at this time of sound mind and memory do make constitute and appoint this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows to wit
I leave? give devise and bequeath to my wife Sarah Gregory one half of my real and personal property to be enjoyed by her without impeachment of want during her natural life or widowhood and after her death or marriage I devise and bequeath the same to the use of my son Atha Gregory and his heirs forever I devise and bequeath all the rest and residue of my property both real and personal of which I now am seized or of which I may be seized or possessed or have a title to at the time of my death including all debts which at that time may be due to me to the use and behoof of my son Atha Gregory and his heirs forever totally excluding my daughter from claiming any share of the same having allotted to her and her husband Stephen P.Pool in my lifetime one half of my estate I hereby constitute my son Atha Gregory and my friend and relation John Gregory son of Richard Gregory and John Gregory son of Joseph Gregory Executors of this my last will and testament and in the _____ of my son Atha qualifying as an Executor it is my wish that he should not be bound to give security for the discharge of his duties as executor in aforesaid and hereby revoking my former will and testament published and Executed by me. I have this the sixth day of February one thousand eight hundred and twenty six witness my hand and affixed my seal. -- Signed sealed and published in presence of Luke Wiles, Charles Faultham? and William Vaughan.

At a Court held for Mecklenburg County on the 18 day of October 1830 - The foregoing Last will and testament of Ambrose Gregory deceased was this day produced into court and proved by the oath of William Vaughan subscribing witness thereto and said William Vaughan and Thomas Jones being sworn saith they are well acquainted with the handwriting of Luke Wiles another subscribing witness thereto having seen him write and that they believe it to be in his own proper hand writing of the said Luke Wiles and order to be recorded Edward L. In the name of God Amen I Andrew Gregory of the County of Mecklenburg and the State of Virginia Considering the Frailty and uncertainty of life do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following to Wit First it is my will and desire that all my just debts and Funeral charges shall be paid, after which I lend unto my Beloved wife Frances Gregory during her natural life, the Tract of land whereon I now live including that part of the land purchased of Daniel Coleman adjoining the old tract on the north side of the road leading from Prudence Jeffries's to Thomas Norments, - Four choice Negroes, Four Choice Beds and Furniture and such of the rest of the Household and kitchen Furniture as she may wish to keep, Two choice horses one Cart, one Yoke of oxen and third part of the rest of the stock of every kind except Horses, and one third part of the crop of Tobacco Grain etc - I give unto the children of my Deceased Daughter Susanna Elam namely Andrew Daniel, Frances, Pheby, Nancy and John Elam Ninety Pounds Cash to be equally divided between them, I give unto my Deceased Son James Gregorys Children namely Patsey, Frances, Latney M. Andrew, Salley, Polley Y. and Nancey W. Gregory one Hundred pounds cash to be equally divided between them. I give unto my Deceased Daughter Frances Callis's Children namely Daniel, Henry, Elijah, James Elizabeth, and William Callis one Hundred Pounds Cash to be equally divided between them. The Above two Tracts of land containing five hundred Acres Given to my two sons Elijah and Thomas to be laid of by a line running paralel with North line extending from the west end of the land to Cooks Road. I give unto my Son John S. Gregory the Residue of the Tracts of land purchased of James Webb containing by estimation Eight hundred and Fifty four Acres, I give unto my Son Robert S. Gregory Sixty pounds Cash and the Tract of land Purchased of Thomas Coley containing by Estimation Two Hundred Acres adjoining the land of Ludwell Evans-Richard Russell and Others on the Waters of Kittle Creek, I give unto my son Silas M. Gregory the residue of the land purchased of Daniel Coleman including all the houses plantation etc lying on the South Side of the Road leading from Prudence Jeffries's to Thomas Norments and after the death of my Wife I likewise give unto my Silas M. Gregory all the land lent to her during her natural life before named in this Will, Which lands bequeathed to my five sons namely Elijah. John. Robert. Thomas and Silas I give unto them and each of them and their heirs forever. It is my will and desire that all the rest of my Estate not disposed of in this Will may be equally divided between Salley Couch, Pheby Gregory, Elijah Gregory, John S. Gregory, Robert S. Gregory, Thomas S. Gregory, Silas M. Gregory and the children of my deceased Daughter Frances Callis namely, Daniel, Henry, Elijah, James, Elizabeth, and William (I wish it to be understood that the Children of my Deceased Daughter last named shall receive only the Eighth part of this legacy to be divided between them) Which I give to them and each of them and their heirs forever - It is my Will and desire that after the death of my Wife all the property lent to her in this Will except the land may be equally divided between my Five sons namely Elijah, John, Robert, Thomas and Silas, Which I give to them and each of them and their heirs forever, It is my Will and desire that the Cash Legacys bequeathed in this Will to my Children and Grand Children shall be paid as soon as the money can be collected from such Bonds as may be on hand at my death and from the sale of such property as my Executors hereafter named may dispose of for that purpose--Lastly I hereby appoint my Trusted Friend Daniel Smith and my two sons Robert S. Gregory, and John S. Gregory Executors of this my last Will and Testament---- but my two sons Robert and John shall not be compeled to give Security for their Executorship In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Twenty seventh day of October one Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventeen--

And on motion of Robert S. Gregory One of the Executors therein named, who made oath thereto according to Law, and together with his securities entered unto & Acknowledged bond in the penalty thirty thousand dollars, conditioned as the law directs, certificate is granted him for obtaining a probat of said Will in due - reserving Liberty to John S. Gregory & Daniel Smith the other Exors thereon named to join in the probat thereof when they shall think proper.

Will of Elijah GREGORY

In the name of God amen. I Elijah Gregory of the county of Mecklenburg state of Virginia being in feeble health but of sound disposing mind and viewing the uncertainty of life. Therefore constitute and ordain this my last will and testament revoking all others as follows.

1st. After all my just debts and funeral expenses I give to my wife Nancy Gregory (with the exceptions Andrew and Lavica) stock of all kinds, crops, plantation tools, household and kitchen furniture for her lifetime.

Item 2nd_ I give to my daughter Mary A. Gregory a negro man named Andrew and a negro girl named Lavica forever at my death she is to have said negroes

Item 3rd_ I give to Frances L. Moore a negro woman Harriet forever.

Item 4th_ I give to Theba M. Moore a negro Boy named Thomas and a negro girl named Fanny forever.

Item the 5_ I give to James Gregory a negro girl named Rachalle.

Item 6th_ I give to William Gregory a negro girl named Mariah and negro Boy named William forever.

Item 7th_ I give to Eliza Ann Moore a negro girl named Ritta and a Boy named David forever

Item 8th at my wife's death It is my desire that my land and crop of tobacco, corn, wheat and oats, fodder and stock of all kind, household and kitchen furniture and plantation tools shall be sold and an equal distribution be made among my above named children.

Item the 9th_All the negroes which I now hold (with the exception of Andrew and Lavica which I have disposed of to my daughter Mary at my death) I leave to my loving wife her lifetime and at her death are to be equally divided among my children Mary, James, William, Fanny, Theba, and Eliza___

Item 11 The negroes or money which my son James may draw at the division of my estate at my wife's death I loan to my son James Gregory for the special benefit of his four children William Henry Gregory, Martha Ann Gregory, Elijah Thomas Gregory and Mary Caroline Gregory children of said Jas. Gregory my son which property is for their special benefit support Education and this property is to be held by James Gregory my son and is not to be out of his hands for the Payment of any debts of I. Now ifsoever of the above named children should die before becoming of age or marrying it shall be equally divided among the survived. Item 11th I loan to my daughter Theba M. White her proportional part of my estate at the division at my wife's death for the special benefit of her daughter Manerva White which property is not to be sold for the payment of any debts or otherwise save in the support of said child Manerva if said Manerva should die before she is of age or Marries and her mother should not make a disposal by will of said property it is my desire that it shall revert back to my estate and be equally divided among my children with said possession as regards my son James pay for the benefit of his four children above named.

Item the 12th I constitute and ordain Asa Moore my executor and to manage for my wife during her life.

In the name of God amen I Frances Gregory of the County of Mecklenburg & state of Virginia being at present in a low state of bodily health but of sound mind & memory, do make and ordain this my last will & testament, in manner & form following (to wit) 1st after all of my just debts & funeral expences are paid - I give unto each of my living children (towit) Elijah Gregory, Sally, Elizabeth, John, Robert, Thomas, Phoebe & Silas M. Gregory, the sum of one shilling each -

2nd It is my will & desire that all the rest of my Estate of every discription whatsoever should be equally divided between my two sons John, & Silas M. Gregory, which I give unto them & their heirs forever.

lastly I do hereby appoint my friend John F. Finch my Executor to this my last will & teatament hereby revoking all others made or intended to be made.

In the name of God amen. I Robert S. Gregory of the County of Mecklenburg and the State of Virginia being of sound mind and memory, do make and ordain this my last will and testament , in manner and form following: 1st. I give to my son in law Alexander Smith who intermarried with my daughter Elizabeth C. my two negroes Martha and Joe and one bed of furniture and one horse and saddle and one bureau all of said has already been advanced to him and I gave to his heirs forever.

2nd I give to my son James A. my two negroes George and Jim , one horse and saddle and one Bed and furniture, which property is already advanced to him and at my death my will is that my said son James A. shall receive from my estate seven hundred dollars in money, which sum of money I give to him instead of land, all of the foregoing named property and money I give to him and his heirs forever.

3rd. I give to my son John E. my two negroes Davy and Mariah, one horse and saddle, one bed and furniture and one tract of land known as Pettus Tract all of which property has already been advanced to him which I give and bequeath to him and his heirs forever.

4th At my death I give and bequeath to my son William D. my tract of land known as “Norments Tract”, and my three negroes Eliza , Levy{?} and Reuben and one bed and furniture. The above tract of land called Norments is bounded by a new chopped line, which line was chopped by myself. I have already advanced to my said son William D one horse and saddle. All of said property I give to him and his heirs forever.

5th. At my death I give and bequeath to my son Robert T. my tract of whereon I now reside which tract of land is divided from the Norment tract by the {aforementioned ?} chopped line. And my three negroes, Jacob Daniel and Henry, Jr. and one bed and furniture. I have already advanced him one horse and saddle all of said property I give and bequeath to him and his heirs forever.

6th I give to my daughter Mary F.Crafton my negroes Betsy, Edmund and James and the future increase of the female from the time they were advanced and one bed and furniture and one Bureau. All of said property has already been advanced which I give and bequeath to her and her heirs forever.

7th. I give to my daughter Julia M. Floyd my negroes Becky and her child Nancy and girl Peggy and their future increase from the time they were advanced. One bed and furniture and one Bureau, all of said property has already been advanced which I give and bequeath to her and her heirs forever.

8th. After all of my just debts and funeral expenses are paid, my will and desire is that all the rest of my estate of every kind and description not before dispensed {disbursed ?} of in this my will shall be equally divided between my seven children. My son James A. to have one seventh part. The heirs of my deceased daughter Elizabeth C. who intermarried with Alex. Smith to have one seventh part. My son John E. to have one seventh part. My son William D. to have one seventh part. My son Robert T. to have one seventh part. My daughter Mary F. Crafton to have one seventh part. And my daughter Julia M. Floyd to have one seventh part, which I give to them and their heirs forever.

Lastly, I hereby appoint my son James A. my Executor to this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others by me made or intended to be made. In Testimony whereof I have hereinto set my hand and affixed my seal this ____

In the name of God: Amen. I, Wm. D. Gregory of the County of Mecklenburg in the State of Virginia, being at present very ill but of sound mind and memory and knowing the uncertainty of life have thought proper to make this my will-bequeathing my estate as follows:

Item 1st. It is my desire that all of my just debts should be paid.

Item 2nd. It is my will and desire and I hereby will and bequeath to my beloved wife Lucy C. Gregory during her widowhood, that is for the period of time after my death in which she remains single the whole of my Estate real and personal and of every description to hold for the use of herself and my children, and I hereby authorize her to give to each of my children as they may become of age such of my estate as she may think proper for their necessities, and I hereby authorize my said wife to sell such of my property as she may find it necessary to the interest and welfare of herself and my children to dispose of, the same however to be replaced by the purchase of other property.

Item 3. In the event that my said wife Lucy C. Gregory should marry again, it is then my will and desire after ______________the bequest in the next following item that my whole estate should be equally divided amongst my children.

Item 4. In the event that my said wife Lucy C. Gregory should marry again, I hereby give and bequeath to her for her sole use and benefit in fee simple the sum of One Thousand Dollars, provided that she should abide by the disposition herein made of my estate.

Item 5. I hereby appoint Nathaniel M. Norwood my Executor to carry out the foregoing disposition of my Estate. In testimony of the above my last will and testament I have hereunto affixed my hand and seal this the 30th day of November, 1857.

Norwood the Executor therein named, who made oath thereto, and together with J. A. Gregory and John J. Barnes his securities, entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of Ten Thousand Dollars, with condition according to law, certificate is granted the said Norwood for obtaining a probat[sic] thereof in due form.

The foregoing renunciation of Lucy C. Gregory was this day produced in open Court, and proved by the oath of the subscribing witnesses thereto, and was ordered to be recorded.

STATE OF VIRGINIA County of Mecklenburg
I, Robert F. Clack, Clerk of the County Court of Mecklenburg County, in the State of aforesaid, do hereby certify, that the foregoing is a true transcript of the last will and testament of William D. Gregory deceased; and the renunciation of Lucy C. Gregory thereto, with all things touching the same as fully and wholly as they now exist among the records of my Office.
In Testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of the said County Court at my office in Boydton, this fifth day of May in the year Eighteen hundred and sixty. [note this is 1860]

State of Virginia County of Mecklenburg I, William Townes the Presiding Justice of Mecklenburg County Court, in the State aforesaid, do hereby certify that Robert F. Clack who hath given the preceding certificate, is and was at the date thereof the Clerk of the said County Court, duly elected and qualified according to law, and that his said attestation is in due form.
Given under my hand this 5th day of May in the year Eighteen hundred and sixty.
