Oliver Hugh Hunigan, my great grandfather, was born June 3, 1844 in Carroll Co VA. He is
rumored to have been an orphan. In 1850 he was living with the Henry Duncan family. If
any one
has any information as to the parentage of Oliver, please let me know. I have been searching for

I am researching my Great grandfather Henry Leftwich Gravely who is listed on the 1860
census of Carroll County, VA. I would like to have more information on his father George
Gravely whose household Henry is listed in. Henry died in Raleigh County, WV and is
buried here. George is listed in both 1860 and 1870 census records. Where were they in 1850 and
1880. Any information on this family would be appreciated.

I am searching for a James Lewis Henderson who married Sarah Elizabeth Henderson on
June 14, 1865 in Granville Co NC. I hope that his father was James who was listed on the 1870
Census in the Fancy Gap District. James was listed as age 63 and Diahan as age 45. There is a
Delilah Henderson age 55 next door who could be James' aunt. These ages would be
consistent with being the parents of James Lewis Henderson. James Lewis Henderson
named his first daughter Delilah. I am hoping someone has a clue.......Patricia Henderson

Uriah Surratt, who is listed among the Carroll County Confederate pensioners of 1908. I
believe Uriah was the son of Patrick and Lucretia (or Lucinda) Surratt. Many of Uriah
Surratt's descendants still live in Carroll County.

In the 1860 Carroll County Census, Jane White, age 34, and her four children: Benjamin,
age 12; William, age 9; Leonard, age 7; and John, age 10/12 were living with James Moore,
age 42; his wife Deborah, age 44; and their son James, age 16. I would like any information of
who this Jane White was. I think she was my great great grandmother. Would also like to
know who these Moores were and why Jane was living with them. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you.

Bartlett GREENWOOD, son of Samuel and Sebel (STREET) GREENWOOD, of Surry
Co., NC, died in Carroll Co., VA ca. 1840-41. He was married twice: (1) Elizabeth MANKINS,
and (2) Nancy CODY. Children by first marriage were: Mattilda, m. Eli REESE, moved
to Randolph Co., IN; Samuel, m. Ann McCAN, moved to Rush Co., IN. Children by 2d marriage
were: Bartlett Jr., m. Polly POORE; Thomas C., m. Lockey CONNOR; William Redman, m.
Mary (?); Christina, m. William SIMMONS; Caroline, m. Wm. J. BUNDY. Other possible
children were: Micky, m. Shurwood FRANKLIN; Sally Ann, m. Gregory HULL; Henry (?);
and George Washington, m. Elizabeth REESE. Would like to correspond with other people
researching this family.

of William W. Johnson b.1824 in Carroll CO, VA. Which would have been Grayson Co. at that
time. Wm's father died in mining accident when Wm. was around 10 yrs. old, about 1834, his mother
then moved to Ohio with the children. Thank you if anyone can fill in the answers.

I am looking for my mother's birth father by the name of Charlie Fields. What little I
know is that he worked for the railroad in Salem, Va. at the roundhouse in or around 1906. My
mother would like to know of any family he may have had as would I. He may have been from Carroll

Montgomery, Wythe, Carroll Counties. I am trying to find out his father's name and confirm that
he is the father of Franklin Hurst. Below is what I have so far:

William HURST born Abt. ? in Wythe County, Virginia. He married Rachel. Children:
Franklin b. July 11, 1818, Wythe County, Virginia; d. November 15, 1881, Carroll County,
Virginia; and Lucinda HURSTb. Abt. 1822.
Franklin HURST married (1) Charity MONTGOMERY December 24, 1846, daughter of Levi
MONTGOMERY and Rachel DALTON. He married (2) Roxina ALDERMAN 1870.

I am looking for info on Mary Hendricks born Sept 1, 1869 died Jan. 5, 1964 and who
married Reuben Dalton in 1892 in Carroll Co., Va. Apparently Mary was 1/2 Cherokee
Indian. Would like to know any info about her at all and where the Indian ancestory came from.
Her parents may have been Benjamin Hendricks and Mary "Pollie" Hodge.
Any info on them also would be appreciated. I have reports that her mother died when she was 4
yrs old, and she lived with a family by the name of Milgrim. What happen to her father?
Were there any other children if so how many and names.
