Vital Records

FYI:  Some of this information may have been posted by me on the prior county site. I then gave the county up for adoption but it was only adopted for a short time and it resided on a Google Classic site. Those are no long accessible to update. Thus material is being transferred to this site for Palm Beach County, FLGenWeb.

About Florida Vital Records

Florida birth certificates are confidential and can only be issued to the registrant, if of legal age (18), parent, guardian, legal representative or upon court order. Birth certificates become public record after 100 years following the birth. If you are the registrant, or legal representative, birth certificates are available for persons born in the state of Florida for the years 1919 through the present. If you were born before 1930 you must apply through the State Office of Vital Statistics at:

Office of Vital Statistics
P.O. Box 210
Jacksonville, FL 32231

If they were born prior to 1930 then they may be found on the US Census for Palm Beach County. If you do not have access to the US Census, then request a lookup via this site if someone is listed for this. (See Lookup Page).

If the person died in Palm Beach County and their burial information can be found, the grave marker may provide a date of birth. Their death certificate would also provide birth date and state.

Florida death certificates: Death registration was not required by state law until 1917, however there are some records on file at the State Office of Vital Statistics dating back to 1877. Any person of legal age (18) may be issued a certified copy of a death record without the cause of death.

Probate Documents - a good source for information on family members.

Military Discharge/Separation: DD214 is the identification number for the United States Department of Defense Certificate of Discharge from Active Duty. Because this document is required for virtually all interaction with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, it is often considered by servicemen to be one of the most important personnel documents in the military. The DD214 form contains an official record of a servicemember's service dates, sorted by location, and in what capacity they served. It contains records of all authorized awards, ribbons, medals, ranks and promotions, any combat service or overseas service, and Military Occupational Specialty identifiers. DD214s are often filed and recorded with the county.

Marriage Records: Although you can not view the marriage license online, you can see the date it was issued, the bride and groom names, and get information to order it. Go to the Palm Beach County Clerk & Comptroller. Document type code is MAR.
