Jump, 89, of 308 Meadow Wood Terrace, died Monday, January 28, 2008 at the Cayuga Medical Center. She was born in Morrell, KS, daughter of the late Frank and Bessie Lawrence Bowman. Lorena was retired from Cornell University. She had also worked at Bowman's Department Store in Harrisburg, PA and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She was an artist, a seamstress and loved gardening and cooking. A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Lorena is survived by her husband of 68 years, Calvin Jump; her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Lu Jump, Roger and Lorene Jump and Richard and Carol Jump; her grandchildren, Kelly, Brian, Brett, Brad, Beth, Carter and Ian and great-grandchildren, Erin, Giovanna, Connor, Isabella and Dominic. She is also survived by her sister, Maxine Schallenberger; her brothers, Junior Bowman and Bob Bowman and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lorena was also predeceased by her siblings, Vernon, Sherman, Harold, Keith and Edna. Funeral services will be celebrated by Rev. Rebecca Dolch on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 10 am at the Bangs Funeral Home. Friends may call today (Wednesday) from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Bob was being visited and comforted by family members and the staff at the Brookdale Assisted Living Facility in Central, SC. He was 87 years young. Bob was born in the city of Ithaca in
Thompkins County, NY on July 27, 1928. He was the youngest of 9 children born
to Peter Frank Bowman and Catherine Elizabeth Bessie Bowman. Whether Bob was working on his 1956 John Deere, building blue bird houses, roasting apples over his woodstove, or just tinkering, he loved to be in his garage. The consummate practical jokester, Bob kept everyone he knew on his toes. Some of his other favorite pastimes included: hosting family and friends at his spring-fed pond, visiting around the campfire, teasing his wife, meeting the guys for coffee, giving grandchildren wild tractor and wagon rides, and showing slides and old movies of special times shared together. He was a loving, faithful man who lived a rich spirit-filled life. Bob was preceded in death by his
parents; his wife Doris Parks Bowman; his brothers Harold, Sherman, Vernon,
and Keith; and his sisters Edna and Lorena. There will be a memorial service at Brookdale Central on Thursday, Feb. 25th at 10am. An additional memorial and graveside service will be held in the Lansing area on a date to be determined. 2016 Burial: |

Roanoke Times, The (VA) - Wednesday, January 23, 2002 On the afternoon of Monday, January
21, 2002, Mrs. Nannie Emily Davis,
89, of Salem, said goodbye to her loved ones and joyfully embraced her Savior
with whom she walked away. Hand in hand, they now stroll upon
the streets of gold where never a kinder soul has ever trod. Soft spoken and
gentle, filled with wisdom and care, Nannie brought joy and laughter to all
who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. Her kindness and gentle spirit live
on in the memories of family and loved ones. A Godly mother, Nannie taught
Sunday School and sang in the choir at the church where she was a Charter
Member, Fellowship Baptist Church. For those in need, she was ever ready to share
her wisdom gleaned from years of walking with God. Nannie was preceded in passing by
her husband, James Davis and grandsons, James Prillaman and Kevin Davis. Nannie is survived by three
children, Mrs. Pauline Prillaman of Lynchburg, Mr. Garland Davis and his wife
Pat of Lakeland, Fla., Mr. David Davis and his wife Mary of Salem; along with
ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and twelve
great-great-grandchildren. Those of us who remain, sorrow not as others may,
for our sorrow is tempered with the knowledge that Nannie is neither gone nor
forgotten. Nannie moved on to her well deserved
rest and reward, leaving us with fond memories of the past and a joyful hope
of our future reunion. Funeral services will be conducted
2 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2002 at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev.
Mike Ward and the
Rev. Carter Sloan officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial
Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home. The family wishes to express special thanks to
the staff of 4 East at Richfield Nursing Center for their care. Arrangements
