She was a very talented musician and served the church for some time as its organist. Connie was also a member of the Carrie Lee Chapter of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her two sons, Swanson W. Angle and his wife, Karen of Plano, Texas and C. Eugene Angle of Nashville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Brian (Dallas, Texas) and Jill and her husband, Tom Bowman (Portland, Ore.) and Robert and his wife, Eleanor (Richmond) and Ren (Charlottesville); and two great-grandchildren, Ellie and Virginia; her sister, Mrs. Hinton A. Cannaday Whitenack, passed away at Lewis Gale Hospital on Wednesday, June 2,
2004. She was born September 5, 1916 at Check. She was preceded in death by
her first husband, Harry B. Cannaday and her second husband, Ray B.
Whitenack. She is also preceded in death by her father and mother, Stanley
and Flora Clower Angle of Check; two sisters, Bea Angle Anderson and Mae
Angle Conner; two brothers, Clarence Angle and Woodrow Angle (Woody); and a
nephew, Bobby Angle. Mrs. Whitenack was co-owner of two grocery stores-Shopwell on Brambleton Avenue and Brandon Road Market founded by Woody Angle and Harry Cannaday, known as "Angle and Cannaday." She was also in sales at Tower's Hallmark Gift Shop, Tanglewood Leggett's China Department and Village Gift Shop at Cave Spring. She was on the debate team and the basketball team at Check High School. She was member of Central Baptist Church. A dear friend, Dr. David Henderson, conducted the funeral at Oakey's South Chapel at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 5. Interment followed at Evergreen Burial Park. 2012, following a brief illness. L.C. was a native of Floyd County, the son
of the late Maude and Chester Angle, of Simpsons, Va. He attended Virginia
Polytechnic Institute and graduated with a degree in Agricultural
Engineering, Class of 1940. He was a retired Army Lt.
Colonel who served in Panama and the European and Pacific theaters during
World War II. He retired from Appalachian
Power in Abingdon with 43 years of service. L.C. enjoyed the study of
history, especially that pertaining to the Civil War, and worked with the
Historical Society of Washington County, serving as President for 12 years.
He was a member of Sinking Spring Presbyterian Church and served as its
Treasurer for 18 years. He chaired the Washington County Courthouse
Renovation Committee and served on the Board of Directors of the Virginia
Highlands Festival. L.C. was a devoted husband and
loving father. Second only to family and his many friends, the Hokies of
Virginia Tech were his true love and he actively served in the VPI Alumni
Association, Southwest Virginia Chapter. L.C. was preceded in death by
his wife, Mary Lou Angle; his parents; his brother, Clyne Angle; and his
sisters, Glenna Runion and Margaret Vest. He is
survived by his sons, Len Angle and wife, Patty, of Radford, Va., and David
Angle and wife, Mary, of Lebanon, Va.; stepsons, Mike Pleasant, of Mahomet,
Ill., and Dr. Scott Pleasant and wife, Kelly, of Blacksburg, Va.;
stepdaughter, Patty Rushing and husband, Keith, of Mahomet, Ill.; nine
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made in L.C.'s name to Virginia Tech Alumni Association,
Holtzman Alumni Center (0102), 901 Prices Fork Road, Blacksburg, VA 24061 or
