NEWS FROM STAFFORD STORE

The farmers will be late getting their spring plowing done.

Mr. J. O. Duffey, who has been quite ill at his home near David, is slowly improving.

Miss Lizzie Cox and Flossie Bridwell were guests of Miss Myrtle Bridwell recently.

Mr. Hosea Duffy, who has been working in Washington, has returned to his home here, owing to his father’s illness.

Mrs. A. D. Arrington has been visiting her mother, Mrs. Cora Shacklette.

Mr. Claude Cooper was very badly bruised, when his horse ran away with him Monday while on his way to Fredericksburg.

The following program was successfully rendered at Stafford Store graded school Wednesday night, April 21, 1920:

Opening song, Our School, by the school.

Recitation, Sow, Sow, Sow, by Emma Colvin.

Recitation, Be Careful What You Say, by Katie Shelton.

Song, Old Gray Bonnet, by Gracie Shelton.

Dialogue, Axin’ Her Father, by Ruth Tolson, Olive Tolson, Pearl Garrison, Blorrie [maybe Flossie] Bridwell and Earl Shacklette.

Song, Bill Bailey Come Home, by David and Olive Shelton.

Song, America, By the sixth grade glass.

Dialogue, Out All Around, by Olive Tolson, Lizzie Cox and Earl Shacklette.

Recitation, St. Peter at the Gate, by Florrie [maybe Flossie] Bridwell.

Pantomime: First scene, Soldiers Farewell, by Florrie Bridwell and Edgar Cox. Second scene, song, Tenting on the Old Camp Ground, by Olive Tolson, Ruth Tolson, Earl Shacklette and Edgar Cox.

Recitation, When the Minister’s to Tea, by Pearl Garrison.

Dialogue, Coon Creek Courtship, by Lizzie Cox and Florrie Bridwell.

Declamation, by Everette Keyes.

Recitation, A School Girls’ Parting Message, by Eva King.

Quite a large crowd attended, which was greatly appreciated by the teachers and scholars.

The amount of money taken in was $44.66, which goes for the benefit of the church cemetery and schoolhouse.
