Some of the confederate soldiers listed here are missing information. If you have information on Confederate solidiers not listed here or if you can provide any of the missing information, click on the email link at the bottom of the page. This list is for Confederates of the Shenandoah Valley, not just Shenandoah County.
Sources for this information are many and varied and include "Shenandoah Men in Gray" by Thomas M. Spratt, "Union Forge" by Mary Ann Williamson, books by John W. Wayland, T.K. Cartmell and Marvin Vann, as well as books from the "Virginia Regimental Histories" series and research contributed by individuals.
The following counties are represented on these lists: Augusta, Berkeley (WV), Clarke, Fauquier, Frederick, Hampshire (WV), Hardy (WV), Jefferson (WV), Morgan (WV), Page, Rockingham, Shenandoah and Warren. Some of these counties are not physically located in the Shenandoah Valley, but their families have strong ties to the Valley, therefore they are included here.
Many thanks to all who have contributed to this database of Confederate soldiers. If you have Valley (or members of Valley families) who fought on the other side, they can be included as well on the "yankees" list.
