We cannot do research for you. If you need help, please go to the Research Assistance link on this site, or join the Shenandoah County list VASHENAN created for discussion of the County of Shenandoah (not the entire Valley). There are many helpful people on this list who have also contributed information to this site

When using the search engine below, remember to try variants of the surname. The search engine will not show anything included on pages with graphics (courthouse records, Daniel Bly's book).

Shenandoah County, known previously as Dunmore, was formed in 1772. The name Shenandoah has thirty variant spellings. The Senedo Indians lived north of New Market and the name is derived from that tribe.

To the west of Shenandoah County is the Great North Mountain, to the east is Massanutten Mountain. Cedar Creek is the northern boundary and the southern boundary abuts Rockingham County.

The highest elevation is 3293 feet at the summit of Mill Mountain and the lowest elevation is 490 feet where Cedar Creek meets with the North Fork of the Shenandoah River. (Source: Shenandoah Co Gazetteer and Historical Geography, Irvin D. Magin, 1991)

Your Shenandoah County Coordinator is Jackie & Warren. Contributions to this site are gladly accepted!
