May 4, 1905 - Many will rejoice that Mt. Jackson will have a good cemetery ... the burial place in the town where stands the Union Church is full ... the Mt. Jackson Cemetery Association has purchased of Benjamin Smoot four acres of land a short distance south of Mt. Jackson opposite the Burkle property, on the Valley turnpike, overlooking the river. The price paid was $900. The grounds have been well laid out, and there are between 350 and 400 lots. Near the middle is a very large circle, around which there is a 60 foot drive way, with cross drive ways ... one hundred Norway maples have been planted. (click image to enlarge)
